So. While we all sit here, waiting for whatever fresh bullshit Atroma drops on us next, I thought we might have a little bit of fun, that we haven't done in a while. Lets have ourselves a little game of Never Have I Ever. It'll get you to know one another and let me in on your secrets, because I have to get my kicks somewhere. The idea is, you give a statement, if that statement is true for anyone, they don't take a drink, if it isn't, then they drink.

Basically, the less messed up your life is, the more wasted you're probably going to get.

You can do it over video, or you can come and drink at the bar. If you're underage and believe in rules, you can have slushies. You can have it in blue flavour or blue flavour. I'll even start. [AHEM] Never Have I Ever stolen a car.

[ Cheeky and smug. ] Anyway, it's not that big of a deal. It was a good plan, and I still think it would have worked if the bounty hadn't been a trap.

[ She shrugs a little. ] It's really not that big of a deal. I think you're just going to be disappointed now. It happened back home, when we were infiltrating the Fire Nation

I'm not gonna be disappointed, just tell the story so I can understand how someone like you ended up in jail.

[ OKAY, BEN, buckle in. But after a frown, because there's still something a little offensive about the wya he says 'someone like you.' ]

A friend of ours who was with us was taking a lot of risks, using bending to gamble and win. She wound up with a bounty on her head. [ It's okay, Katara, you can say Toph. ] We fought about it a lot... and in the end, she agreed to stop and I agreed... after one last job, but this time, it'd be my plan and I'd help her.

[ Shockingly, everyone was surprised at this then too. ] I told her we should pretend to turn her in for her bounty. She'd get 'caught,' I'd get paid, and then we'd break her out of jail and get away with more than enough money - and have some fun too. About... half of it worked. They didn't plan on giving up the bounty, and there was a [ hmm 'paid assassin' would probably just lead to a longer story, so... ] really tough bounty hunter trying to track us down, who'd given out my description to the town official. So he got the drop on me when I thought I was about to get paid and I wound up in jail with my friend.

[ See? Not that exciting. She just... admitted to joining and planning a con, sure, but it didn't work, so it's not that exciting. ]

[UH HELLO THAT SOUNDS EXCITING AS HELL TO HIM?? In fact, in the pause between her story and him speaking up you can see him trying to figure out how many charges that would translate to in his world's terms before he sits back and mutters something under his breath like he's having a revelation]

Oh yeah, I'm so disappointed to hear about you breakin' a whole shit ton of laws and ending up in jail, lemme tell ya.

[ She gives him a weird look. I mean... it's not like it worked, because that would be exciting. This is more... mildly embarrassing than anything. She genuinely doesn't get why he's that interested. ]

But honestly, you? I am at least passingly familiar with several criminals, and you hardly seem like the sort to associate with them.

Uh... [ How to say this... ] basically because there was a paid assassin after Aang and he got the drop on me. If I'd known he was in the area, we never would have tried to get the bounty money, but I didn't. We were bait. So we had to break out before Aang came for us.

[ Because if it wasn't for Combustion Man, her plan would have totally worked. ]

[She still feels like that explanation is missing some important information, but she's been here long enough she knows how to check through older messages on the network. It's only once she's pieced everything together that she responds again.]

And I assume you have since endeavored to not participate in efforts to swindle others for financial gain?

[Because look if you're gonna take something at least take it the right way. Spoils of war and all that. Or as a legitimate wager.]

[ Yeah... she'd felt a bit bad about that, especially since she'd been making such a big deal to Toph about why it was wrong. Except. Fire Nation. And proving to Toph that she could be fun.

...and also, Fire Nation Officials. She... doesn't really feel bad about that. She did feel bad about going against her better judgement. This sort of thing Wasn't Right, and she knew it. She'd just... she'd so wanted, just once, not to be the responsible one, not to be the mom.

But... that was who she was, and there was no escaping it. She knew her future.

Her smile is a little pained, a little ashamed, but mostly just wry. There was no escaping it. ]

That was really more of a one time thing.

[Looma can at least see it's not something she's terribly proud of, so she'll at least do her the kindness of giving her a warm smile in return. Maybe not a big one, but, well...Looma wasn't one known for any grand emotional showings anywhere off the anger spectrum. not yet, anyway]

Then I shall assume it was a lesson learned.
