New Dragon Experiences

Wonderduck

[Shin-Ah's first experience with confetti has him completely startled. So the first thing he does when there's strange noise and suddenly things flying at him is duck and cover. Which means someone might find him just crouched holding his head while he wonders what is attacking him. He doesn't have his sword so he's not entirely sure how to fight it.

Seriously. He's never seen this stuff before. Please send help. He needs it SO BADLY.]

Iskaulit

[After the scare on the Wonderduck, Shin-Ah can be found wandering the Iskaulit. Really he's familiar with the layout so he's not actually lost. (He can see through walls, guys. He knows where he's going.) However, it probably looks like he's lost. Because Shin-Ah will be walking one way then stop and look around before randomly picking another direction.

Should he go here? What about here?

In truth, he's on his way to the forge that he saw. He's just exploring on his way there so he can know the layout of this place well to know where everything is. It just seems like a good idea right now.]

[He reaches down to start helping pick things up. He doesn't appear to be reading any of them. Just stacking them without really seeing anything on the pages.]

The walls aren't illusions.

[Basically he saw right through them.]

Yeah thanks, Captain Cryptic, not all the walls are illusions.

[Where did this guy grow up? Under a rock?

He quickly snatches the papers away from him and frowns.]

Why are you spying on me?

[He watches the papers get snatched away and then settles for resting his hands on his knees instead since he's not supposed to help clean up apparently.]

I wasn't.

[Spying. That's what he means.]

[Yeah right okay.

This guy is really weird for a spy. But with his papers folded away into his pockets, Taako relaxes a little more, arms folded back across his chest.]

Then why were you looking through walls?

[He looks up at him now from where he's still crouched.]

To see the forge.

[And find it. Because he's still learning the ship and all that. He points in a direction beyond the person he's talking to.]

It's there.

[Which means he basically saw this room on the way and got distracted by the fact that the door was weird.]

[To see the? What?

Taako looks behind him in the direction the man is pointing, but all he sees is the wall. What the?]

....So wait.

[He breathes in, pinching the bridge of his nose.]

You can see through walls?

[Shin-Ah hasn't realized that isn't something they've established yet. Apparently not.

So he nods.

Yes. He can definitely see straight through walls.]

...Well that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Can you turn that particular ability of yours off, or is it just all seeing all the time?

I can always see.

[He knows if he ever stops being able to see far away and through walls that it means he's going to die. That's not something he's ready for honestly.]

Yep, lawsuit then.

You better keep your eyes averted when people are changing, just so you know

[He tilts his head to the side a bit. Why would anyone watch someone changing? Aren't people supposed to have privacy at that point?]

Yes?

[Seriously. He knows he was raised without much human interaction but he knows that much. Of course, he has none of these sassy thoughts in his head because he's the least sassy person around. He's far too innocent for that.]

[Oh good lord. It's like talking to a child - and he's not great with children. Agnes knows. He cares, sure, but he's absolutely not great with them. They're too easy of a mark to mess with.]

So, gonna guess you're new to this, and to the Fleet in general?

[He really is that easy to mess with, Taako. Your assessment is not wrong.]

[So he's very, very new.]

So quick recommendation then: don't look directly outside of the ship because you'll stare directly into the suns sometime or another and go completely blind, fyi.

[That's a real worry, but also he just wants to see how far this guy can see and if he can really mess with him or not.]

[That's not how solid objects work. At all? Hence why he's staring blankly at him for a second before he points at the walls.]

They protect from sunlight.

[Raised under a rock? Probably. Dumb? No.]

[Interesting, so he can see, but not absorb the light from it. That's...weird. Taako wonders if he can see color through walls or if it's just outlines and general shapes now.]

Hm. Well, then protip - if someone's got an illusory wall up? It general means "don't look here, go the fuck away." You're lucky I didn't Scorching Ray your ass.

[He doesn't know a lot about magic or illusions really.

Anyway, he picks up a paper that the other probably wasn't going to be able to see and hands it to him as he stands up again.]

If I were stuck? I would have blasted my way out.

[He takes that paper too, folding it up and sticking it into his pocket.]

And if you tell anyone you saw me behind an illusory wall, I'll blast you. [He sounds very cordial as he threatens the newbie's life.]

No offense, I just need these little...experiments to stay secret, capiche?

[He's not sure how he is supposed to have known someone could easily free themselves from being stuck like that. He did just meet this person.

But okay.

And he nods. Why would he tell anyone? It's not that big a deal really in his mind. Just someone doing things in private. People do that all the time.

Note that he doesn't look the least bit intimidated nor threatened.]

You really don't get the whole "threat to your life" thing, do you?

[That takes like...20% of the fun out of this.]

[He was listening. He's just not intimidated by you. Sorry, Taako.

Plus he won't tell so what reason would he have to even be scared? Okay and he doesn't ever really care so much about his safety in comparison to the safety of others.]

[Taako sighs and shrugs. Good enough. As long as the message is received. This guy is so blase about everything, Taako is tempted to blast him into space just to see a reaction.]

So what's your name, Magic Eye?

Shin-Ah.

[A pause.]

They are Dragon Eyes.

[Not a Magic Eye. This person really likes weird nicknames for some reason. He can't figure out why though.]

[Shin-Ah? How about Shiny.]

Never heard of a dragon's eye being able to sneak a peek at undies before, but sure, you do you, I guess. Does it get you in a lot of trouble? Because it seems like the thing that would get you in trouble.

[He lifts his hand up now to touch the mask that he's wearing. A closer look will reveal that there aren't actually eye holes despite the black.]

The mask was to protect from trouble.

[They're definitely talking about two different kinds of trouble at this point.]
