Wonderduck

[Shin-Ah's first experience with confetti has him completely startled. So the first thing he does when there's strange noise and suddenly things flying at him is duck and cover. Which means someone might find him just crouched holding his head while he wonders what is attacking him. He doesn't have his sword so he's not entirely sure how to fight it.

Seriously. He's never seen this stuff before. Please send help. He needs it SO BADLY.]

Iskaulit

[After the scare on the Wonderduck, Shin-Ah can be found wandering the Iskaulit. Really he's familiar with the layout so he's not actually lost. (He can see through walls, guys. He knows where he's going.) However, it probably looks like he's lost. Because Shin-Ah will be walking one way then stop and look around before randomly picking another direction.

Should he go here? What about here?

In truth, he's on his way to the forge that he saw. He's just exploring on his way there so he can know the layout of this place well to know where everything is. It just seems like a good idea right now.]

[Forge, you say!! Surprise, there's already someone here, examining the equipment and whatever materials are still lying around from whoever was here last. She's pretty lost in thought when he arrives.]

[After his encounter with Taako earlier, you can bet that when he arrives and moves around to see the front of her he...has to take a moment to stop. And then turn back to where he last saw Taako. And then back to her.

Because.

Didn't he just...?

But this looks just like...?

Please don't mind him staring. He's very confused.]

[His staring goes on just long enough for her to catch sight of him out of the corner of her eye, and she glances in his direction, momentarily on edge until she sees his distinctly non-aggressive posture. Still, she's not the sort to leave her back facing a stranger, so she fully turns, head tilted to one side curiously. Definitely a dead-ringer for Taako, though she's not wearing the same outfit, and her hair is styled differently than his, peppered with pink highlights.]

Need something, bud?

[Now that he can see her full on he can see better that she's different. The same face but not the same person. He's not sure how that works since he's never really been exposed to twins before so he just decides that somehow this is just a thing now.

Okay. He can live with this.]

Mm...

[He looks down now, like he's figuring out what to say. Then he lifts his head and shakes it. No. He doesn't need anything.

Walking closer, he goes to look and see what the forge has to offer. Because apparently he doesn't have a sword anymore. He knows that the weapons here are supposed to help but he just feels like he can't protect anyone without a sword.]

...sorry...

[He means for staring. It's so easy to forget that makes people uncomfortable.]

What?

[Her response is an amused smile, arms crossing in front of her chest. She keeps a careful, subtle distance from him, but he doesn't seem all that threatening, so it's just simple precaution.]

Aren't you usually supposed to do something wrong before you apologize for it? Or are you planning something nefarious? Because that don't jive with me, we only just met.

[Oh.

Maybe he should have...said why he was sorry. Social interactions are surprisingly hard.]

[He looks back at her but otherwise stays where he is. Nope. He might seem intimidating to some but really he's as fluffy as the fur draped over his head.]

Aww, that's sweet. You don't have to apologize for that one, you wouldn't be the first.

[Look at her. Who wouldn't be caught staring? She's hot stuff.

Weirdly enough she doesn't seem the least bit intimidated by him. The mask might be a bit eerie, but she's seen worse. Hell, she's dated worse. Barry in lich mode is infinitely freakier than this kid.]

[Nope. He hasn't even noticed that she's attractive. He doesn't tend to notice that about people in general because he's too busy paying attention people as they are instead of what they look like.

All the same she's not mad. That's good enough for him.

So he gives a nod as if to say thank you. And...maybe since she's not mad...]

You have his face...

[She blinks. That explains it.]

Oh, you met Taako? Yeah, but it's more like he has my face.

[An argument they will probably have until they die. ...Well. Die for real, anyway.]

[He has her face. That still doesn't make much sense since he doesn't know about twins so, even with the mask hiding half his face, he looks baffled.

How do they have the same face?]

[He's not asking, and she's not telling him, as she hasn't told anyone here- nevermind a stranger. The one who matters, who she wants to know, can't hear the words, anyway.

Instead she crouches down and lifts a chunk of metal off the floor, giving it an experimental push on either side to see if it bends.]

You interested in making weapons, or were you looking for a smith?

I...don't have a sword.

[He is so used to having one that now that he doesn't he's almost not sure what to do with the fact. Looking back to the forge, he touches a piece of metal there.]

I wanted to see if there was one.

[Because he's never made one before so he'd have no idea how to begin.]

Sorry, no dice, as far as I can tell. You might want to try and find out who runs this place, see if they take commissions.

[She can teeeechnically make equipment herself, but unless the user wants magical enhancements, she can't vouch for its quality. Plus she only just arrived herself. Best to not start making promises to randos in somebody else's forge.]

[So there's not one. Well that's alright. He'll have to find one elsewhere or find the owner of this place.]

What were you looking for?

Some materials, maybe, but mostly the equipment. It's been a while since I've done anything like this so I wanted to see if it's up to snuff.

[It's not, at all- nothing like the Arcaneum, kind of scrappy and rudimentary. But it does seem plenty functional, so it's not a worthless visit either.]

Materials?

[Already now he's crouching so he can start looking. Maybe he can be helpful with that since he can often find things others might miss. At least that's his hope.

He just wants to be useful to people here because he doesn't know what else to do when the others aren't here.]

Yep. I don't have a list or anything- haven't decided what to make yet, I'm just putting out feelers to get something better than what I have now.

[Which, as he might notice while she's crouched next to the supply pile, is just a plain wooden spoon tucked into her belt.]

[Which probably means he'll go find things randomly and then just bring them to her. She may end up needing to tell him often that what he finds doesn't work. But he'll do his best!]

Have you been down to the planet yet? There's a ton of junk just lying around, begging to be scrapped. Chances are I'll find a lot of stuff that can be smelted into usable mats. You might find whatever you're looking for, too.

[Maybe not a sword, though stranger things have happened. There's bound to be shops with tools and weapons, right?]

There's...so much. Down there.

[Including a machine that had spit steam at him. What a terrifying thing.]

Someone said that there are machines to help people.

[Of course he's only just learned what machines are so he's not even sure what all they're used for or if Lup wants any of them.]

Mm, that would make the most sense, wouldn't it- there's way too much trash down there for there not to be some extra help.

[Robots aren't a new concept to her or anything, but they still come up rarely enough for them to be kind of novel. The only ones she's seen around the planet were too big to consider taking, though.]

[Lup is definitely going to end up just receiving so much random stuff now. All in the effort to help her.]

[It's easy for even a blind person to see he has no idea what he's agreeing with here. He's honestly just agreeing because she clearly seems to know what she's talking about? Maybe?]

[Depending on quality she may or may not complain. He sounds a bit confused, though? Hmm.]

Is this sort of thing new to you? You don't seem too down with it.

I saw my first machine...yesterday.

[So basically...he has no idea what the hell to do with them or what they are in all honesty. Aside from confusing. So confusing. And one blew steam at him.]

Maybe you should stick to what you know until you've learned a bit more about this sort of stuff, bud.

[Her tone is gentle, but mildly teasing; he seems real eager to please, which is great and all, but it also means he might just step in something he ought not just yet.]
