[ loki is no stranger to space ships. though the kind of ships asgard uses are quite different in nature, he's read enough to be familiar with the make and feel of this one. he quietly turns on the recording device, squinting at it. very primitive but it'll have to do. he straightens himself, as befitting a prince, quiet and somber despite the nervousness. ]

Greetings. I am Prince Loki of Asgard. I wish to know about my whereabouts and swift return to Asgard. My father will not be pleased.

[ a pause as loki thinks of what else to add before pulling out a large knife he stole from the kitchens. ]

[ loki looks down at his plate. he doesn't doubt that his father feels that way . . . but he doubts all the same. that was in his nature long before he fell apart. ]

Maybe. It's not easy.

Oh? And why would you say that?

[There's such sadness in him - both earlier about the magic and now when mentioning his father. Taako has to bite his cheek to tamp down on the echidna's instincts to mother and then eat.]

Aren't you eager to become like the others?

Of course I am! I want to be just like Father. Strong. A warrior.

[ but loki is already feeling it. that he's different. he doesn't have the same enthusiasm thor has. ]

Not everyone's cut out for the stab and slash lifestyle, kiddo. That's not a bad thing.

Because if everyone is of the stab-and-slash variety, the world will be very bloody and very boring.

[He says it matter-of-factly and shrugs, giving a wave of his hand.]

And just because it is the way it is now, doesn't mean it'll always be that way - or that it should be that way.

[Taako shrugs and then shifts back out of his echidna form, his body shrinking and regaining its original elfin shape.]

I'm a transmutation wizard though, so yeah - I think everything in the world can change.

[ loki takes a moment to absorb this before nodding solemnly. ]

Mmhm. If you're hungry for more than cake, I was going to be starting dinner service in about an hour.

[It sounds weird to say it like that, but well, that's his job on this ship. He's not the wizard Reclaimer for the Bureau of Balance anymore, not even an adventurer. He's just a simple chef with some kick ass skills.]

Yeah I get it. Wake up in a strange place, no one around you know, you gotta keep yourself safe.

[He's lived that life enough times to know how the paranoia seeps in forever. Taako has his room covered in beaded curtains for a reason.]

Other than the terrible pantry and a severe lack of fashion sense?

Not that I've seen. And I'm taking care of the pantry improvement. I can only so so much with everyone's fashion disasters though.

They gave us jumpsuits.

[That should tell Loki so he needs to know. Taako, of course, burned his ASAP and is now sporting his own fashion forward ensemble, but dang the wardrobes here are awful.]

And the closets are barely able to fit a decent selection of clothes procured elsewhere.
