[Biffy comes on screen with a smile as he nods his head politely. Behind him one can see his lovely looking hair salon...the Maison de la Lune.]

Good evening. Given the fact that we are now in the season of Autumn, I felt that it was time to offer a special at my salon for all who wish to partake.

[He steps aside to wave at the interior behind him. It really is very lovely. Elegant even in the simplicity of it. Biffy had really gone out of his way to make sure that the interior design is very classy indeed.]

For this month, I wish to offer a special on makeovers. This will include a hair styling, as well as a scalp massage and a facial. For those interested in cosmetics, I am pleased to say that I can provide makeup for this as well.

[He turns back to the screen.]

I look forward to your patronage at the Maison de la Lune. Thank you.

Maison de la Lune

[Sure enough Biffy is at his shop a lot more this month. (Please don't mind the evenings he isn't. He's probably down on the planet running with his mate.) And whenever he smells someone approach, he is there to greet them with a smell and an impeccable bow. Here in his shop he isn't a Communications Officer, he isn't an Alpha, he isn't a Lord. Here he is just the humble keeper of this salon who is ready to take care of his customer.

So it is with that bow that he will look up, that twinkle in his pretty blue eyes.]

Good evening. May I offer you some tea and you can tell me how I may serve you this evening?

[He smiles down at him then starts to wash his hair, letting the warm water move over his scalp before massaging the skin with expert hands. Of course he washes the hair too but since there isn't much of it he settles for putting his attention elsewhere.]

[Not much hair, but its worth the effort all the same. It's... strange. He hasn't let himself do something like this in more years than he can remember so someone taking care of him is not something that he is used to. He close his eyes after a moment, letting Biffy do this]

[Skilled fingers find pressure points to help Ulaz to relax more before he rinses the shampoo away and conditions the hair. He even adds and oil to help keep the skin around the hair nice and soft to the touch.

When he's done and everything is rinsed away, he gently towels his head before helping him to sit up. With a wave of his hand, he smiles again.]

Please rejoin me over here and we'll get to work.

[Well... one can't claim Biffy doesn't know what he's doing. It feels good and while he wonders inwardly if all of that is necessary, he did agree to let Biffy do what he thought best so he's not going to saying about it, just let him do it.

At the prompting, he gets up again, following Biffy over to the other chair]

Was this something you did back home?

Not professionally. However, I did always enjoy doing it with my former master and with the wife of my former Alpha. No, back home I actually sell hats.

[And he loves that very much.]

Hats?

[He's oddly surprised by that for some reason. He has no frame of reference, but it seems odd]

You are a werewolf that sells hats? Is that common?

Not at all. Werewolves commonly prefer occupations that are more...masculine in nature.

I see. I gather you like your job. Do you make them as well or just sell?

I far prefer to sell them. Now that I am a werewolf, a great deal of my artistic creativity is gone.

Hmm... a shame that it seems to do. Were you very creative before?

I was. It's what is often the hint that someone would be suited to becoming immortal. Someone with a lot of creativity in the arts or even in the sciences implies an excess of soul which is what is needed to become a vampire or werewolf.

Hmm... makes me wonder what faculties are specifically controlled by "soul" as well as what controls it. Obviously it manifests as creativity, but it makes me curious why some people and not others.

It's not an exact science really so no one is quiet sure what exactly is the true indicator. However, those with high amounts of creativity have been known to have the highest rate of successfully changing.

Interesting. I'm sure trying to figure out what is needed for a successful change is something many are curious about in your world.

[He lets himself stop being distracted from conversation to actually dry the little bit of hair there is as well as the scalp around it. Just a towel dry. There's no need for more.]

There are certainly scientists attempting to study it. As far as I am aware, they have not yet come across anything beyond it requiring an excess of soul. What fully determines that? Well that's not quite so clear.

[There really was no answer to be had as to what effected the change so his own wandering thoughts on it were just that: thoughts]

Still, must be good to have something to do back home.

It was a task my former Lady suggested I have as I recall hearing. I was struggling a great deal at the time and she felt that would be a good place for me so I could do something for my pack. For myself as well I suppose.

[He fetches his scissors so he can trim. The hair really doesn't need to be cut but he can at least clean up what is there a little.]

I quite enjoy it actually. Selling hats to the ladies of the city.

It is a very sociable position.

[Biffy seems to do well with people that Ulaz can see. Always talking to people. So it seemed like it would be good for him]

It's good you were able to get something to do in order to help and something you liked.

Yes. With that and with Lyall I was able to settle into the pack and into the role of Beta for a time.

[A time being twenty years but still.]

So you were the beta? I know you were not the alpha immediately, but I hadn't been aware you were a beta.

Lyall had to...depart from the pack to join another for a period of time. I took over duties as Beta in his place.

I see. At least you have him back now. That is something.

Yes. And honestly Lyall is better suited to the role than I am. At times I have questioned my suitability as an Alpha but having Lyall there always reminds me that I am capable of being where I am.

Then that is good as well, helping to remind you of what you are able to do. It does not sound like an easy position, but it is obviously important, and someone who can make it easier for the leader to lead is invaluable.

[For a brief time, he had done that with Kolivan. Afterwards, Antok started to shift into that role as Ulaz became the one who pushed back more, questioning their decisions. He had helped them move forward, Antok helped Kolivan]

Indeed. A pack does not function well without an Alpha and a Beta who work together to keep everything running smoothly. It's a true necessity to any healthy pack if I am to be honest.
