It's Party Time [ Open ]
Who: Jim Kirk & You!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Yes, Planet-side @ Alloy Lake
When: Sometime in the evening
While it wasn't broadcasted, between how many people were told and the fact it wasn't exactly a private affair on a very public beach, anyone was welcome to come to this little shindig. Kirk's feelings were mostly that they all could use a break and a chance to relax together as friends, family, teammates, or any other word you chose to assign to the relationships you had on the Fleet. It was a nice break from working in projects too. It was nice to have something to occupy yourself in a creative and useful way, but it was always a good idea to take a break and refresh the brain now and then.
Which was how he came to the idea of a party on Alloy Lake.
He scouted a scrap of land near the water to set up on - beach towels, a cooler with drinks, a mocked up grill to cook some food. He went out later in the afternoon to start with more than enough light to enjoy some swimming, though it would be dark soon enough for certain members to join without being uncomfortable. At which point, a bonfire was built. What? A lack of sunlight is never a reason to stop partying! Especially not with such good company.
[ ooc: It's a party on the beach! Make your own starters and have some fun! There's drinks - alcoholic and non - food, a couple of games or make your own, a bonfire later in the night with of course means some kind of smore, swimming, and more. In terms of invite, you can assume you were directly told by Kirk, or told by someone else, or the grapevine. It's open to all, so don't worry to much about it. Have fun! ]

[Not what he wanted, but it's something. It just renews his desire to punch through the fabric of this reality somehow. He just needs to find the right combination of spells, maybe get someone else to help with dimensional magic, and maybe, just maybe, he can break out. Taako's smile wavers for a half second before it comes back bright as ever.]
And I can always go for some food. I'd love to see what you're capable of whipping up.
no subject
Like I said, it's nothing fancy, but I did manage to keep myself fed and alive with said food up until now. At least it's nothing to start war over.
[ He rolled his eyes at that, remembering one mission in particular. Honestly, races though that humans were foolish, but these two planets - they really took the cake. ]
Ever had a hamburger?
no subject
But a hamburger, huh?]
I'll try anything once. Hit me with your best hamburger shot, my man.
no subject
I think that means something different to you than it does to me.
[ He laughed as he dressed up the hamburger - classic style, or as close as he could get it with available ingredients, added some ships on the side and setting it down for Taako. ]
A 'shot' can be a measure of alcohol where I'm from. Down in one, and get you drunk pretty damn fast for - I won't say cheap, but don't have to buy a whole bottle either.
no subject
Hey, my man, I might be from a fantasy world, but I know what a shot is. Lup and me got absolutely wasted trading them back and forth outta two bottles of vodka awhile back.
[And it was a good night. A good weird night, sure, but anytime he's with Lup it usually turns out that way. He grabs the plate of food and checks it over. Ground beef turned into a patty, some vegetables on top, sandwiched between round bread. So a hot sandwich of some sort? Cool.]
You do shots often here?
no subject
[ That kind of answered the question, right? He flipped off a new patty and made up his own burger. ]
So, no, not to often, but I can convinced here and there to toss back a few.
no subject
[Which is a great way to jinx it, but oh well. He hasn't seen anything he couldn't handle so far and he's minus a protection fighter and a cleric. He hasn't died yet, so it's honestly so much easier than the rest of his life.]
Especially down here on this planet. The worst trouble you could probably get into is a papercut off the amount of junk they have here.
no subject
This one isn't that dangerous. But we've been attacked in drift before, and we've landed on planets that are not as kind as this one. We'll leave in a month and then it's on to the next, and god knows what we'll find there - monstrosity. Horror. Beauty. Relief. Any of these. None of these. I literally could not tell you what to expect.
no subject
I could do with some beauty after this place. The danger? Yeah, hard pass. Unless they're some crazy reward attached to it, Taako's good out here.
What sort of attacks though? Might change what kind of spells I keep primed for whenever we head out into the cold unforgiving void of space.
no subject
Sometimes the danger is unavoidable. None of us asked for our ships to be dragged planet side and put out of commission on a planet where cannibals lived, but that's what happened.
[ He gave a shrug. ]
The last attack some ships were boarded, and others merely attacked from the outside by what I believe to be a pirate fleet. I don't think we ever really got answers from that attack - it just happened.
no subject
Well, that's just not right.
[And he's glad he wasn't here for that because getting eaten was not on his bucket list. No thanks.]
So space pirates and cannibals - nasty. Is there any pattern to the bad stuff coming though? Like arcs in a play or a show? You know what I mean - you get one nice thing so something bad has to come along and balance it out?
no subject
[ He cocked his head as he thought about that a bit. ]
I'm not sure I could say they come at regular intervals, per say. But I personally start getting twitching after we've spent a few months of being quiet as one might say. It's nice, but I feel the longer we spend in the quiet, the bigger the storm when it comes around. Sometimes it's being attacked or finding ourselves in extremely dangerous situations. Other times it's just... disturbing. Or sad. Or both.
no subject
Sooooo...how long has it been since the quiet broke would you say?
no subject
[ Kirk looked at Taako. ]
Long enough you should start feeling twitchy.
no subject
[There's no real vitriol to his tone, and the exasperation in it isn't aimed at Kirk. The next world they go to might not be so exciting after all. The heads-up is nice to have, even if he'd prefer to just coast along without having to fear for his life again.]
no subject
It's a skill that comes and goes, unfortunately. You caught me on a bad day.
[ But he wasn't going to really apologize for it. He preferred giving it to someone straight rather than sugar coating, and seeing them end up temporarily dead because of it. Or worse. ]
no subject
[He gestures at himself and the lake - ignoring the faraway mountains of trash.]
no subject
Well, you haven't been here all day, which has been the real travesty all along.
[ Wink wink. ]
no subject
[There's the Jim he knows back in force. Taako grins and winks back at him, then decides to finally start in on the burger Jim made. It's actually not bad! He could get behind this full-time actually. His first burger and his first taco at the hands of a spaceship captain. This planet hasn't been a total loss.]
no subject
You aren't spitting it out or turning green, so I'm going to assume my burger passes?
no subject
But it could use a few other spices up in that seasoning before Taako served it.]
Mmhm~ My first time having one and I'm not gonna bite the hand that feeds me for free, so yep. I'll give it a pass. We eat with our eyes as much as our mouths and there's no better sight than what's right here.
[Might as well be shameless while he's at it.]
no subject
[ That earned Taako another laugh, waving his spatula at the other. ]
Shameless, but I'll take it. For a bachelor, that's about the highest praise I can naturally receive.
no subject
[Shame, that is. He's always shameless.]
I'm surprised though - no one's snatched you up yet? Or is it more of a "free bird" situation where you don't wanna be tied down?

I do have a lover here - Remy LeBeau. You’ve probably seen him around, he’s the red-head with really, really dark eyes and a Cajun accent, likes to throw in French here and there?
Anyways, we’ve been together a little over two years now, but it’s a kind of open situation. Not that I’m sleeping around, mind. But I had another here before - Fenris. He went home though. I was with both at the same time.
[ The mention of Fenris makes him sound wistful and a touch sad. He had cared for the elf very much, and hoped every day that wherever he was, he was happy. ]

There we go. I figured a guy like you wouldn't have a problem finding people to Fantasy Netflix and Chill with.
[Yes, that's a thing. Shh.....]
Haven't met your guy though. Must be too new still.
