It's Party Time [ Open ]
Who: Jim Kirk & You!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Yes, Planet-side @ Alloy Lake
When: Sometime in the evening
While it wasn't broadcasted, between how many people were told and the fact it wasn't exactly a private affair on a very public beach, anyone was welcome to come to this little shindig. Kirk's feelings were mostly that they all could use a break and a chance to relax together as friends, family, teammates, or any other word you chose to assign to the relationships you had on the Fleet. It was a nice break from working in projects too. It was nice to have something to occupy yourself in a creative and useful way, but it was always a good idea to take a break and refresh the brain now and then.
Which was how he came to the idea of a party on Alloy Lake.
He scouted a scrap of land near the water to set up on - beach towels, a cooler with drinks, a mocked up grill to cook some food. He went out later in the afternoon to start with more than enough light to enjoy some swimming, though it would be dark soon enough for certain members to join without being uncomfortable. At which point, a bonfire was built. What? A lack of sunlight is never a reason to stop partying! Especially not with such good company.
[ ooc: It's a party on the beach! Make your own starters and have some fun! There's drinks - alcoholic and non - food, a couple of games or make your own, a bonfire later in the night with of course means some kind of smore, swimming, and more. In terms of invite, you can assume you were directly told by Kirk, or told by someone else, or the grapevine. It's open to all, so don't worry to much about it. Have fun! ]

Take your pick - either of these views is pretty fantastic in my opinion.
[He lays back again, pushing his sunglasses back onto his face with a grin.]
no subject
Again, though: sure.]
I mean, I was looking at the water.
[Which isn't to say that the alternative view is bad. He's just being a little bit...difficult. Which comes across in his tone, the way it's a little wry and definitely knowing.]
Although considering that I've been standing here for all of a couple seconds, I haven't really gotten that much of a chance to look at either.
no subject
Look all you like then. The water's nice - although you might want to change if you're considering going in. And I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
no subject
Pretty sure I'm going to stay on the shore, but thanks for the advice.
[He's quiet for a few long moments, but...whatever. Taako did start this conversation, right? So he can't be annoyed if Felix continues it.]
You must be pretty new, I don't think I've seen you around.
[Because Taako is distinctive!]
no subject
Taako is almost dozing in the sunlight when he hears the conversation pick back up. His long ears twitch and a smile spreads on his face.]
Mmmhmmm, just arrived. Thought I'd come see the only nice place on this garbage world. Kind of a bummer for my first foray into space, but what can ya' do, right? You been here awhile?
no subject
You could say that. It's been around two years. I'm surprised the audience isn't bored of me yet.
[His mention of them has a slightly sarcastic tone, though. He doesn't really believe they exist, after all.]
I promise we don't usually visit literal trash planets, though. Hopefully your next system will make up for it.
no subject
They must like the tall, dark, and handsome types.
[Although Taako was more the tall, golden and beautiful.]
Buuuut I keep hearing this from people about how not every planet is a garbage heap. You're going to get my hopes up, my man, so this Fleet better deliver or I'm gonna be suuuuuper disappointed.
no subject
I'm sure that's what it is.
Really, though. Statistically, they're at least more interesting than this. I wouldn't say they're all prettier, but there's usually more going on. And less trash.
...Though they do get dangerous from time to time.
no subject
[If he had 200 gold, that is. Is it credits now? He's not really sure how credits translate to gold so he's been hoarding it like a prepper just in case.]
But I've also heard that - the dangerous thing. What kind of dangers? Because the worst you could probably get here is tetanus.
no subject
[Fun times! Felix sighs a little.]
There was also the planet where we found out that a meteor was headed straight for us all. We couldn't exactly leave the system so we helped with the evacuation effort. I guess we weren't necessarily in directly in danger on that one but there were some casualties anyway.
...Come to think of it, both of those were more than a year ago though.
[That should be a good thing but Felix has started to sound suspicious. Nothing good lasts.]
no subject
No shit?
[Taako groans a little.]
Please tell me that means you're not due for another bout of terrible horrors in space.
no subject
Last year around this time was very quiet, though. So if it happens it probably won't be soon.
[What was that about not jinxing it, Felix?]
no subject
Or freeze on an ice planet, one of the two.]
Noooot reassuring there, my guy. But at least I'll possibly maybe might have more time to prep, I guess. If nothing else being paranoid will eventually pay off.
no subject
[That's a healthy outlook on life....
He finally turns to look at Taako again.]
My name is Felix, by the way.
[Leaning forward off his hands so that he can extend one out towards Taako.]
no subject
Felix, huh? No relation to the cat, I take it?
I'm Taako - from TV. Especially true now that we're here.
no subject
[Not an Earth thing, right? Not with those ears.]
From TV?
no subject
[Taako grins. He figured there wouldn't be, but he had to get the little jab in there anyway. Too bad it went right over Felix's head.]
And yuuuuuuup. Traveling show, celebrity chef [formerly], you know, the whole deal.
no subject
Huh. Interesting. [I mean, it doesn't mean much to Felix, but it's...cool?] Have you met Eugene Woods? He's the cook on the... [Which ship now?] Starstruck. Pretty into the whole cooking thing too.
no subject
Which I had no idea was such a high commodity item here, but apparently? Yeah. I'm basically your bacon-wish-fulfillig god or something.
no subject
I take it by "make", you don't just mean cooking it.
[Because that seems like something Eugene should be able to handle. If he has the supplies. Which they often don't.]
no subject
Nope. Behold.
[He reaches over to a basket he has nearby, plucking an apple from it. Taako never goes anywhere without a snack, but this is a worthy sacrifice to make. He still has macaroons in there anyway.
With a little bit of power, he spins the apple and it changes in color and shape, plumping out to become an orange. With a flourish, he tosses the new fruit to Felix.]
Transmutation, my fella. And whatever I can't transmute, I conjure.
no subject
(He's almost, almost past the point where displays of super-human ability give him pause. Almost. But then, Taako isn't human anyway, is he?)
He catches the fruit when it's thrown to him, digging a finger into the peel curiously to see if there's actually orange beneath the surface too.]
...Huh. Useful.
no subject
Mmhmmm - now you know why I'm in such high demand here. Already have at least one other person trying to poach me to their ship off the First Breath.
no subject
[He continues to stare at the orange for a few more seconds before putting it aside.]
Just a food thing, or does it extend to other things?
no subject
[Taako reaches over to grab the fruit back if Felix isn't going to eat it.]
I can transmute just about anything. A couple need higher level spells, like changing my skin to stone, but most things crave change. It's just a matter of guiding them.
