Taako smirks, and Kravitz can't help but smile right back -- he even blushes, just a little bit. To be fair, he also didn't think he'd be 100% up for this, but here we are~ He watches as Taako magics himself into a total stranger, looks him over, and nods. ]

If I didn't know it was you, I'd completely overlook you. [ Which is a good thing! Which is weird to say. This whole situation is crazy.

He snaps his fingers too, dulling down everything about himself and also wearing the museum staff's general uniform. It really has been a while since he's used the spell to this extent - he reaches up to push a hand through his now much shorter-looking hair. He's so glad that's not a permanent change, thanks. ]

Aw, that's sweet of you.

[He pats Kravitz's cheek through his disguise, which is also so weird to see. But also good because neither of them look like they're supposed to right now. That's the point of Disguise Self. The only thing he has to be careful of is his voice.

Taako smirks.]

Yup that works. You gonna do an accent if we get caught?

[ Kravitz smirks too, clears his throat... ]

Of course, [ he says in that cockney "work" accent of his~ ] can't let 'em catch on, right?

[ But he drops it before he continues. ] Though, let's do our best to, you know, not get caught. I have to admit, I do think I like our odds.

[ They're off to a good start, at least, hey? ]

[Okay, nope. Taako bites his lower lip trying not to laugh. He knows it's how Kravitz is supposed to sound at work, but he's never been able to take it seriously.]

Mmhm!

[He can't say "yes" or he might actually laugh right in Kravitz's face. Even disguised as it is, Taako knows exactly how annoyed his face would be if he laughed at him right now. His beautiful, handsome face with such nice lips and eyes that he could just stare into forever if he felt like it.

......fuck.

Taako blinks and then quickly scoots over to the edge of the alcove, checking to make sure no other museum staff are nearby. Time to focus on something other than Kravitz's dumb disguised face.]

Oh hell yeah, my dude. We're going to "clean" the case and just walk on out. How's that sound?

[ Well, at least it apparently works for the rest of the planar system??

Kravitz moves to the edge as well, checking the other direction for any sign of security -- and seeing none, he nods. ]

Sounds like a plan. [ A risky plan, but... simple. Doable. Seems like something they could actually pull off! ] And no one that looks particularly important is coming this way, so um... after you, babe.

[ He's actually... having fun with this already ]

Mkay. When I nod at you, I need you to cough. Like, as loud as you can, or do something else that causes noise, got it? Just brush it off like "oops, sorry" and try to act natural.

[His spine tingles a little when Kravitz calls him "babe," but he brushes it off as he focuses on the crowd. Wait for fewer people to be passing by and....?

He strolls out easy as pie, making a show of checking his watch as a few museum goers wander further onward. He doesn't check to see if Kravitz is following, trusting him to do his part in this even if they hadn't really discussed what that would be. He can burn Disguise Self continuously with how this planet seems to supercharge his magic, and it's a quick trip to the case displaying the jewels.

He moves to the side and tries to look as droll as possible - routine cleaning, folks, nothing to see here. At the sight of the lock, he sighs. If he had Hole Thrower this would be infinitely easier, but as it is, he has just one option.

Taako catches Kravitz's eye and nods, then casts Knock. As he does, the lock pops open and a loud knock sounds in the hall.]

[ Sounds strange, but-- he nods. ] Okay. Got it.

[ And Kravitz follows! He even slouches a little, makes sure he looks as ordinary and lackluster as possible... He wishes (not for the first time since being here) that he had his damn scythe, that he could cut open a Dimension Door and make this a lot easier. Oh well.

He stands nearby, looking every bit like a bored worker, intentionally in the way of anyone who might glance in Taako's direction. He quirks an eyebrow when Taako sighs, but says nothing - and when Taako nods at him, he does just that -- he coughs, loudly, just long enough to cover up the sound of that knock. A few people glance over out of concern, but he's already clearing his throat and straightening, feigning embarrassment. ]

Uh... excuse me.

[ And that's apparently good enough for the passers-by, they keep right on walking. Awesome. ]

[Perfect. The museum-goers do just that - go about their museum without paying a lick of attention to Taako which is exactly how he likes it when he's breaking the law. The lock, magically disabled, swings open and Taako reaches into the case, using a random pocket handkerchief to "polish" the gems a little.

He carefully picks up each piece, wipes it down with the handkerchief, inspects them for any marks like any good employee would do, and puts them back in their allotted places. Never mind that each gem he puts back is an illusion as he slips the real jewelry into his pockets. Thank the stars that he'd sewn pockets into his jackets and cloaks as places to hide spell components because his leather pants definitely don't have any space for anything other than his ass.

Taako clears out more than half of the case, pocketing rings, bracelets, necklaces and a tiara before his storage runs out. Any more tan this and he'll clink as he moves, so he makes a show of checking the display one last time and then slides the door closed. With a quick rap on the edge, he catches Kravitz's attention and starts for the employee's exit.

So far so good.

Taako prays that the rolls stay in his favor as they start passing a tour group, keeping his head down. He really hopes Kravitz knows to get the hell out of Dodge now that the loot is in his pocket because they only have a minute and once he gets more than 30 feet from that case, his illusion is going to fall and panic will ensue.]

[ Kravitz keeps right on feigning boredom, though he does watch Taako work out of the corner of his eye - and color him impressed, honestly. If he didn't already have a pretty good idea of what was going on, he probably wouldn't have been able to tell how he was pulling this off. It's really hard not to crack a smile, but he manages.

Honestly, he doesn't even have any idea what they're even going to do with the jewels. Taako really, seriously did this just because he could, huh? ... He really should not find that so amusing. And yet.

With the display closed, and everything perfect so far, he nods and follows Taako right out the door. He knows things are going to get a little crazy once they're out of Taako's spellcasting range, but hopefully they'll be outside before anyone actually does anything about it? Fingers crossed??

Either way, the employee exit is at least blessedly not far, and that passing tour group has momentarily been distracted by a completely different case. Looks like their luck is holding out for the time being... Time to leave~ ]

[This is supposed to be the easy part: just walk away and go pawn the jewels off or decorate his shelf with them. Maybe give them to Kravitz so he can be fancy. The guy might have a goth aesthetic, but Taako can tell he likes to preen just as much as Taako himself. He's feeling pretty good about this up until he hears it.

Behind them someone gasps the second he steps past that 30 foot barrier, then someone else yells about the jewels.

And then chaos.

A small group of people near the case start screaming and the museum-goers freeze in place, looking around in confusion. A few guards are woken up out of their carefree stupor and start heading for the source of the commotion. They crowd in and there's a buzz of horror and anger that starts up.

Taako shoots Kravitz a look and then does what any logical, normal person would do in this situation.

He grabs Kravitz's hand and bolts for the employee's exit as fast as he can, yanking the door open to shove him through.]

Time to go!

[ So much for the easy part... ]

Well, fuck.

[ Kravitz shoots Taako a look pretty much at the exact same time, and yep, time to scram!! They sprint for the door, hand-in-hand (which would probably be kinda cute for a second date probably if not for the chaos -- okay it's still sort of cute, whatever, they can laugh about it later hopefully) and at least it isn't locked, or sounding some sort of alarm. Small miracles. Though, honestly, they really have very precious little time before someone puts two and two together, hopefully no one will see them all but barreling through the door--

Wait a second... ]

Taako! [ He hisses as he's being shoved out the door. ] Blink!

[ Kravitz is like 99.9% sure Taako has that spell. Please, please let him be right. ]

Oh shit, right!

[He hadn't known if Kravitz could do that, but he should have guessed. The dude was, like, a millennia old or whatever. Why wouldn't he know a 3rd level spell like Blink?

He gives Kravitz another shove, just to push him forward and give them a little more space, and then he snaps the spell around him. It's instantaneous and he's immediately pulled out of the hallway and into a shaded gray version of it as the Ethereal Plane welcomes him back. The sound of the alarm is muted and he can see people rushing down the hall, right past them, barreling out into the museum, weapons drawn.

Taako slumps with his back against the wall, chest puffing from the sudden sprint and then looks for Kravitz.]

That was fucking close.

[ Yeah, turns out Blinking around and taking advantage of well-timed Dimension Doors are pretty great strategies for Reaper work. Who knew!

Taako shoves him forward, and he rolls with the momentum and steps right into the Ethereal Plane. The chaos around them continues, but at least it's silent, monochrome and - most importantly - no longer an immediate concern for them. He's out of breath too, and all but collapses back against the wall beside him. ]

Yeah. Too close. [ A pause... and then he laughs - just a little. ] But we made it.

[Kravitz might just be laughing a little, but as Taako sees the guards run by none the wiser, he bursts out into a full belly laugh. He just heisted royal jewels with the godsdamn Grim Reaper on their second date. A date that was supposed to just be boring old dinner and maybe some walking around.

Now?]

This is the best thing ever. I can't believe you let me do this.

[ Okay, when Taako starts laughing, Kravitz can't help but laugh all the more. ]

Believe me, this is not how I thought this date would go, and yet. [ He grins. ] This-- this whole thing has been absolutely crazy, but that actually just happened. [ He shakes his head. ]

Welcome to my unpredictable life.

[He almost says "Get comfortable," but stops himself in time. That might be a little too fast, even for him. Taako grins and reaches into his pocket, taking out a silver brooch with a red gem in the middle.]

Stick with me and you'll never have a boring time.

[Taako leans over and slips the piece into Kravitz's jacket pocket with a smirk.]

[ He watches as Taako palms the piece, slips it into his pocket - and he answers that smirk with one of his own.

"I wouldn't ever want it any other way," is the first thing that comes to mind -- but that's too much, too soon, no matter how true it might be. It's only the "second" date, after all... but it's okay. He's still glad there had been a "second" date period - he can't say he would have blamed Taako if he chose to stay away after Kravitz told him the truth about coming from later in the timeline. But they're here. And it's gone well, and obviously Taako's happy, and that's what matters most to him. ]

I think I like the sound of that. [ He nods, then inclines his head toward the door. ] Shall we keep this date going? I mean, we obviously won't top that, but still.

Yeah, I think my original plans for the evening are going to have to be shelved for.... [He hums as he thinks.] -ever.

[But that doesn't mean he thinks the date night is over. This was just act one of act...however many it ends up being. He's gonna have to think fast and try to come up with something that could top messing around in the museum and making fun of fancy people.]

So....

[He runs over a list of things he's heard about on this planet. Not fishing, not shopping, not hitting up the random parties....]

Hot springs?

[ He's glad that date night isn't over. They could've done anything perfectly mundane after this and he would have just been happy spending time with Taako - but hot springs? He's definitely here for that. ]

Sounds perfect. Good way to wind down after a successful job, even.

[ Ha. Yep, this is definitely a date he's not going to forget ever. ]

Let's Blink our way out of here, drop the disguises, and go, shall we?

[Taako snickers at how easily Kravitz agrees and then follows it up with that phrase, "successful job." Like he's some kind of professional thief and not an envoy or bounty hunter or whatever of the Goddess of Life and Death. He might be all up on the breaking and entering part of being a criminal for his work, but straight up lifting loot from a museum? Taako would have thought this would be a first.

He snaps a finger and his disguise falls away in an instant. He's more than happy to get rid of the ugly plain nerd he'd been masquerading as and to return to his fabulous self.]

Gonna just go ahead and drop the disguise first. I'm super done with that. My shuttle's pretty close by, so let's take that and get the hell outta Dodge.

[As for getting out? It's easy. All the guards are swarming the main hall now, trying to stop people from leaving as guests and fancy folk get all up in arms. It's a simple thing to Blink out to the service exit and wander outside, then to put on airs of being confused when people start saying the museum is closed for a bit.

"What a tragedy! I had reservations. Oh well."

Then it's just a hop skip and a jump to his shuttle and before anyone is the wiser, they're squirreled away in the cockpit with Taako patting the passenger's seat for Kravitz to sit. With his other hand he's got the start-up sequence going and starts plugging in the coordinates to the springs into the navigation.]

So is this- the stealing thing, is this a one-time thing or are you finally joining me on the Chaotic side of life, hm?
