[This is going to be one hell of a wedding dinner, that's for sure.
She tucks the skirt aside for now as a "maybe" and looks over the outfit Taako found, reaching out to brush a hand over the fabric. Oooh, it's soft.]
Hey, I can't help that I look baller as hell in red. Plus it fits my colour scheme when I'm setting shit on fire, which is - let's be real - all the time.
no subject
Yeah - but don't set shit on fire in my kitchen unless it's supposed to be. It does go with your whole [He motions absently at her everything as he inspects the skirt. The lace is pretty.] theme. That's true. Maybe we can get you to do entertainment and fire-dance or somethin'.
no subject
[Probably at least half of the wacky tricks they got up to both in and out of battle was inspired by some weird performer in the caravans they used to travel with. Carnies are wild, they know this very well.]
no subject
Why the fuck not? Might give them an awesome scare and a fun show. As long as the sword isn't silvered.
no subject
[Could a Flame Blade be made out of sizzling food?]
...Ooh, performance flambé!
no subject
[Just not silver. The werewolves would flip their collective shit.]
Give a little fire-breath to sear the tops of the sushi, huh?
no subject
[She holds the newfound outfit up against her body, checking the way the fabric moves, and- yeah, hmm.]
I'm gonna try this one on. You want the skirt, or should we keep looking?
no subject
[Never mind that it isn't his party and it's technically someone else's wedding. It's almost close to what he used to do out on the road, entertaining and cooking and--
Taako bites his lip suddenly, pushing that familiar rush of excitement at being on a stage again to the back of his mind. It's still too raw. There's too much attached to that in order to really enjoy it.
He blinks when she talks to him again and he nods absently, waving her off toward the dressing room.]
Huh? Oh, uh yeah, yeah, go for it. I'll take the skirt, natch. Even if I don't wear it to the wedding, it's a great skirt.
no subject
[She vanishes into the room as she talks, her voice taking on a slight echo from behind the door. His tone was... telling, but it's probably not the time or place to pry about it. She does make a mental note to check on how he's doing before they get things really moving with the wedding prep, though.]
What kind of colours do you want for the wedding? Or are you just gonna see what sparkles?
no subject
[Or so he says. He doesn't actually care because he probably "borrows" and forgets to return something to her at least once a week. But he's also kind of glad she's moving away because once the door is closed, he shuts his eyes, trying to tamp down the immediate panic that the thought of the old traveling show still brings. He's been cooking here long enough that he knows no one has died because of it. He knows it wasn't even his fault.
But it still haunts him in small ways and he has to remember: it isn't his fault. He has someone else to blame now.
With a breath, he starts idly going through the racks again.]
And I dunno - I'm waiting on them to give me their color scheme, and then I'll plan the table settings around that. It's all very... [He hums] Chill, I guess? Something like that.
no subject
There's very little she can do about it now, though, as frustrating as that is, so she huffs quietly to herself and vows to make this as perfect a cooking job as she possibly can. Nothing is allowed to go wrong at this godsdamned wedding. Absolutely nothing. And for the moment, she'll do her best to cheer him up.]
If I'm in red and you've got more cool colours, we'll have a nice contrast... good aesthetics.
no subject
[Maybe blue then. Although a lot of his wardrobe had been tending toward blue lately. He isn't sure if it's because of the planet being a giant ball of ice, or if it's some weird nostalgia for the Bureau's color scheme though.
He thumbs through the dresses and blouses, finds a nice vest, but passes on it after seeing the price tag. Are they sewing with real gold or something? Godsdamn this place is nice but expensive.
He glances toward the dressing room to make sure she hasn't come out yet and then takes a breath. He needs to get off this stupid train of thought before she shows up and teases him, or worse - asks about it. On a whim, he grabs a lilac blouse and holds it up to himself over the skirt. This could work - and he could pair it with gold and layer a deeper purple top over it. ]
Mm maybe blue after all. Or purple. Nicest contrast with red.

[She finishes changing, examines herself in the mirror, and... fuck yeah. This looks amazing.
With a slamming noise she bursts out of the changing room, striking a fashionista pose. She earns a disapproving look from the clerk, but yolo, they already gave them the coupons.]
Okay! Double wedding! I'm gonna marry this dress.
no subject
[He calls back over his shoulder, but she's right - he's gotta find the right thing to wear with the skirt. Can't clash with the wedding colors either, which shouldn't be too hard if he picks colors that go well with everything. Nothing too bright then...
He's checking out some blouses when the door slams open, causing him to jump a little. The clerk is grimacing at them, but Taako grins, turning to check out Lup in her new get-up.]
Fuck yes. Match made in fashion heaven, if you ask me.
no subject
Nice find, yeah. I guess I can't avoid the red this time.
[Not that she wants to. As she already said, it's a great colour on her. She poses in front of the mirror a few more times, reluctant to change out of it so quickly.]
Got anything for yourself yet?
no subject
Not yet, but I'll take the dress and skirt - not gonna let these babies slip away.
Besides, you sure you got enough cash for all this?
no subject
[She makes a wibbly-wobbly gesture with her hand, shrugging and disappearing into the change room again to put her clothes back on. The sooner she buys it, the sooner she can think about accessorizing.]
I've done some hunting around town. It doesn't pay big bucks like the arena did, but it's a nice enough buffer that a few more jobs will put me back in the black, no worries.
[She suspects his concern is more due to affording his share than the state of her wallet, but it's all means to the same end, anyway. Not like she cares that much about saving money.]
no subject
Not worried, just don't want to have to pay a lot.
[Not that he's going to be paying a lot either since he won the bet.]
Buuut I think I'm done here. I haven't really seen anything that super pops out at me more than this dress did, yanno?
no subject
[She exists the room a moment later with both dresses draped over her arm, and her free hand fiddling with her communicator. He should get a blip on his while they approach the register, notifying him of a transfer of credits to his account- enough to cover the cost of his clothes, with whatever discount the coupon offers.]
I think I might stick with this hairstyle. It paired real nice with the dress.
no subject
Yeah and now I know what outfit I gotta beat when we get to the party.
[He smirks and heads toward the counter, spinning his communicator in his hand. The choices are plentiful, and the number of stores here with actual taste are enough that he shouldn't have a hard time finding something good at least.]
You gonna wear the boots with that or save 'em for the big dress?
no subject
[Good luck, nerd!! She still has some tricks she can play.]
I haven't decided on the boots, yet. We'll see how I feel when it all comes together.
[She gives the cashier a peppy wave as she eyes them over, cheerfully brandishing the coupon.]
no subject
[He grins and drapes his things on the counter, leaning against the countertop as Lup shows off the coupon. The shopkeeper sighs and nods, then starts ringing up Lup's items first. She asks if Lup wants the items wrapped or if they are for personal use as Taako continues on, looking at the two dresses' hems.]
Mm, with the wedding one, maybe straight heels or flats might be better. We'll be moving around a lot, both in and out of the kitchen.
no subject
[And then some, considering the lost century gap in Taako's memories. Lots of fun extra-planer fashions explored in that time. She waves off the wrapping offer - all for her, baby! - and pays, slinging her bag over her shoulder once she's all done.]
You're probably right, but I've been known to suffer more than just heels for the sake of looking good.
no subject
[With her transaction completed, Taako slides his things over and starts his transaction. He also refuses the gift-wrapping and then bundles everything together after transferring the credits to the shop. It feels weird not to be making some sort of deal or running some kind of scam on this lady, but it's not his money so he supposes he shouldn't care.
Everything all finished, he gives the shopkeeper a salute and starts for the door.]
But I feel you - the fashion show must go on and all. Just be sure to have a spell whipped up in case you need traction or warmth. I think the whole thing's outside.
no subject
[It's an easy tease as they walk through the door, and as she holds it for him she gives his shoulder a playful pat. There's a slight arcane tingle; true to her word, she's cast Fly again. There's no way in hell she's slipping and sliding all over the ice again, especially with her new outfits and those awesome shoes in hand.]
