[ Jim's staring seriously at the camera as the broadcast begins, concern visible on his features. He might be easily recognizable to most everyone on the Fleet, but as soon as he starts talking, it will become obvious that he is not the same man, or at least not having the very same memories. Not of this place, that's for sure. ]

My name is James T. Kirk. I'm... not entirely sure how I got here, but for what it's worth, I'm one of the new arrivals.

[ He presses his lips, glancing around. ] This isn't the first time I've been brought to a universe other than my own, but I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience. Coming here from a place that's not your reality of origin.

[ A pause, ] Specifically, has anyone here heard of Riverview, or the Quarantine?

[ He can't help a hopeful look. A familiar face, any familiar face, will be welcome. He's looking for a specific one, admittedly, but he's not holding his breath on that one. ]

[ Once he makes that broadcast, he'll be exploring his new location, so he knows what he's dealing with. He can be found roaming the ship, poking his head into all the nooks and corners, and possibly trying to sneak his way into off-limits locations, if there are any. Stop him getting into trouble, or help him? Or just come say hi to a not-quite-new face. ]

[ Jim's glad to see Loki's face-- only for his hopes to be crushed when it becomes obvious that Loki has no memory of Riverview. ]

It was a city within a set of two walls on a moon, surrounded mostly by nature. It was built to be a Quarantine, but Riverview sounded nicer. There was a river going through the city.

[ He pauses. ] You weren't there, were you?

[ loki huffs. ]

Apparently my presence is prolific in all realities, despite my having no memory of them.

Sorry. [ He does manage a small apologetic smile. ]

It's just... we were friends. You had left Riverview just a few weeks before me. I guess I was just hoping you'd remember me, is all.

[ his nose scrunches up briefly at the idea of friends. but this is the first person to say that. ]

I'm afraid not. Though I imagine you are exaggerating events a little.

[ It's stronger than him: that comment earns a laugh from him, and he shakes his head. ]

Right, God forbid Loki of Asgard has friends. It would ruin your whole reputation.

[ his eyes narrow. ]

Having met me, surely you can see why I'm not convinced.

Oh yeah, this is nothing short than what I'd expect from you. But if you knew me at all, you'd know that's not a deterrent for me.

[ loki waves a flippant hand. ]

I cannot say I do, though there is another version of you loitering around.

[ Jim's eyebrows raise at that. ]

Really? [ That's a new one. ] And he looks exactly the same as me?

As far as I know.

[ they're not close. ]

[ Well, that tosses his Shatner theory out the window. ]

That's not so bad, I guess. All the better that you all are graced with two great-looking men.

[ Tone it down? No such thing. ]

[ loki scoffs lightly. ]

Plagued seems more accurate.

[ He almost pouts at that. ]

Aw, come on, Loki. I'm not that bad. You liked me in Riverview. Even saved my life, once.

[ that . . . doesn't sound like him. ]

How did I manage that?

You got stabbed in my stead, actually. I know you can handle more damage and you heal faster, but... still. I'd have died if you hadn't gotten in the way.

[ that . . . really doesn't sound like him, so loki continues to look perplexed. ]

I did that?

You did, yes. Purposefully, before you ask.

[ He looks a little more serious then, smile smaller. ]

I can't say I know you completely, but I know you well enough to know that this probably sounds like a bunch of crap to you right now. And I have no way to prove it to you either, but... I do like you. You were one of the few friends I had left in that place.

I guess I'd just like the opportunity to prove that to you.

[ loki is a little torn. on one hand, most of his "friends" in the fleet have left him behind and he does (though he'll never acknowledge it out loud) miss them. and it's hard being in a place like this. ]

I suppose I cannot stop you.

Well, you could.

[ They both know that. Jim's persistent but he's not pushy; and Loki would find ways to get rid of him, if he wanted to. ]

I'd like to meet sometime. Whenever you want.

. . . All right.

I'm the Captain of the First Breath, but I have an office on the Iskaulit as well.

Great. Just let me know when you have the time, and I'll come say hi. Maybe you can show me around some.

[ he nods slowly. ]

Very well.

Thank you. [ He grins, delighted. ] I'll be looking forward to it.

[ loki can't say the same yet, that's too mushy for him. but he does offer a polite nod. ]
