NETWORK BROADCAST ▹ VIDEO;

[ Jim's staring seriously at the camera as the broadcast begins, concern visible on his features. He might be easily recognizable to most everyone on the Fleet, but as soon as he starts talking, it will become obvious that he is not the same man, or at least not having the very same memories. Not of this place, that's for sure. ]

My name is James T. Kirk. I'm... not entirely sure how I got here, but for what it's worth, I'm one of the new arrivals.

[ He presses his lips, glancing around. ] This isn't the first time I've been brought to a universe other than my own, but I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience. Coming here from a place that's not your reality of origin.

[ A pause, ] Specifically, has anyone here heard of Riverview, or the Quarantine?

[ He can't help a hopeful look. A familiar face, any familiar face, will be welcome. He's looking for a specific one, admittedly, but he's not holding his breath on that one. ]

ACTION ▹ SS RED FISH

[ Once he makes that broadcast, he'll be exploring his new location, so he knows what he's dealing with. He can be found roaming the ship, poking his head into all the nooks and corners, and possibly trying to sneak his way into off-limits locations, if there are any. Stop him getting into trouble, or help him? Or just come say hi to a not-quite-new face. ]

That's good to hear. Though if you do end up fighting you should really sell tickets or something.

[She finds it interesting though that they'd be similar enough that only these places feel like the difference. She's not sure what to do with that, so she'll table it for later pondering.]

As long as you're similar I'll mention Pavel's here.

I don't think that's gonna happen. I mean, if people paid to see us kiss...

[ Not gonna happen either, but really, he's just teasing. Not that he'd be opposed to it on principle, but he is an almost married man. ]

I know, Kirk told me already. [ He smiles fondly. ] It'll be good to see him again. It's been a while, for me.

That is such a Kirk thing to say. [She shakes her head and yes, she was maybe already thinking they might just hook up, but she was trying not to think about it very hard.]

This is his third time in one of these places, so he's been away from the fleet for awhile. [Something of a warning. She wants him to be good to her friend when they talk.] Your fleet back home anyway. [Obviously in a fleet currently.]

Well, I am him, so... you know. [ He shrugs. The Fleet's now stuck with two, apparently, for better or worse. ]

Right. Kirk told me that, too. [ He can only imagine there are a few trust issues there. ] Honestly, I'm just happy I get to see him again. I haven't seen anyone from home in... a while, now.

Mmhmm.

[She tilts her head and nods.] No one at all from your world in Riverdale? [She totally nailed the name of the place.] Or any of the other Enterprises? [She's met a decent amount of a later crew.] Data? Deanna? Beverly? [There were others. They were just her favorites.]

Riverview, [ He just corrects on automatic, though the mistake doesn't bother him particularly. But he perks up at the names, and he nods, sitting more upright. ]

Yes! I met Beverly, she was there for a while. She spoke often of Deanna and Data, and others too. Her captain, other members of her crew.

[ There's a fond smile there, warm, a little bittersweet. It likely shows just how much he cared for Beverly, and how saddened he was when she left. ]

She was here for awhile too. Or a version of her anyway. I few of them were and some I met before here like Data. You have a popular world.

[ Jim's smile fades a little, hearing that Beverly was here but is gone now. ]

We're used to space travel, so maybe that's why. The ships are different, and we don't tend to fly in fleets like this, but the overall concept isn't too far off. We'd all adapt easily to living on board a ship, by virtue of having done it before, for very long periods of time.

[Just killing smiles everywhere she goes.]

That would explain it in the fleet, but less for the underwater prison I met most of them in. Though the long periods of time in a small space still tracks.

Yeah, that's... something else. [ Jim frowns. ] There seem to be a lot of places like that. Back in Riverview, I've met others who had been in other alternate realities or pocket universes before. They're surprisingly popular, it looks like. And some of us apparently just keep hopping around from one to the next.

Hop, hop, hop. I'm only on my second, but Pavel's on his third so as far as I know he's winning, but he might not be alone.

I'm on my second too. Though to be fair I only did just arrive, so it probably doesn't count as much. [ He smiles faintly. ] Pretty sure he doesn't feel like he's winning right now.

Oh, yeah, I'm definitely beating you. [She smiles but it fades a bit. No, Pavel has not seemed to be in a winning mood for awhile.] Fighting and surviving intractable enemies is a particular sort of skill set.

Hopefully not literally. [ His lips only twitch slightly. He really does need to meet with Chekov though, see how he's doing. He can only imagine he's having a tough time, and Jim can't help but worry. ]

We get a lot of practice, back in our world. Some things still throw us for a loop, but... we're tough. He's tough. Tougher than he thinks.

No promises. We'll just have to see how things go from here. [She smiles back at him.]

He's a lot tougher than he thinks he is. He never seems to believe me when I tell him. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Well, I'm very persistent, so there is that. I'll just keep rubbing that in until it sticks.

That quality seems to be a constant with Kirks, so it just might work. [She hopes it does. He deserves better.] I'll let you get caught up with everyone else checking in with you. See you around?
