Who: James T. Kirk
Broadcast: Network - open to all
Action: all around the SS Red Fish + SS Heron
When: Right now, and throughout the following week
NETWORK BROADCAST ▹ VIDEO;
[ Jim's staring seriously at the camera as the broadcast begins, concern visible on his features. He might be easily recognizable to most everyone on the Fleet, but as soon as he starts talking, it will become obvious that he is not the same man, or at least not having the very same memories. Not of this place, that's for sure. ]
My name is James T. Kirk. I'm... not entirely sure how I got here, but for what it's worth, I'm one of the new arrivals.
[ He presses his lips, glancing around. ] This isn't the first time I've been brought to a universe other than my own, but I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience. Coming here from a place that's not your reality of origin.
[ A pause, ] Specifically, has anyone here heard of Riverview, or the Quarantine?
[ He can't help a hopeful look. A familiar face, any familiar face, will be welcome. He's looking for a specific one, admittedly, but he's not holding his breath on that one. ]
Thank you in advance.
ACTION ▹ SS RED FISH
[ Once he makes that broadcast, he'll be exploring his new location, so he knows what he's dealing with. He can be found roaming the ship, poking his head into all the nooks and corners, and possibly trying to sneak his way into off-limits locations, if there are any. Stop him getting into trouble, or help him? Or just come say hi to a not-quite-new face. ]

[ and he's heard way worse. at that offer though, he raises an eyebrow. ]
You're rather quick to offer that.

[ He can only imagine the kinds of questions and comments he's gotten. At the last comment, he shrugs a little. ]
Isn't it easier for you to have someone willing, should you not find an alternative?
no subject
[ he's never fought to be fed. though now, everything is sort of . . . up in the air. ]
But my situation is wholly new.

[ And seen as he's only been here a week, he might not have had to worry about this yet. Which isn't to say it won't become a necessity soon. Not that Jim knows how long Alucard can go without drinking blood. ]
So, isn't it better to know who among the crew might be willing to help?
no subject
[ beyond that . . . alucard isn't sure himself. ]
I hear there are blood drives and I am not the only one present in the Fleet.

[ Jim's admittedly curious, not really concerned. There must be some kind of system in place for them, he figures. That's good to know. ]
no subject
So I hear, though I haven't met them. I rarely associate with other vampires, being only half myself.
no subject
[ Please don't tell him you just spend all your time alone, that'd be so sad. ]
no subject
Rarely. I tend to put them off.
no subject
That's too bad. You seem perfectly pleasant to me, so far.

[ kirk isn't wrong. alucard generally keeps his interactions polite. there are only a few exceptions to that rule. ]
But I'm afraid my people have a reputation.
no subject
[ His wasn't always the best. Still isn't, really. Depends on who you talk to. ]
For what it's worth, I don't care. About whatever reputation your people have. We don't have vampires where I'm from anyway, so I wouldn't know.
no subject
Being a vampire has not been a problem here, oddly enough. No one seems to care or mind.
But I would not fault anyone for wariness. It is safer for them that way.

no subject
That would be presumptuous of me. After all, my mother was human.

[ alucard protects them because it's the right thing to do. but love? his mother loved humanity. his father despises humanity. and here he was, caught in the middle. ]

[ It's what Starfleet's come to represent for him, over the years. Something that has never truly left him, and never will, no matter how long he spends away from home. ]
no subject
And I have no faith in them.

[ alucard's past is not a secret, nor does he keep it as one. he'll not hide it or pretend it never happened. the more people who know the truth of it, the chances of it ever happening again grow higher. ]
They burned my mother at the stake. She was a doctor.

[ Jim says it after a pause, a second of awkward silence. Knowing the point in time Alucard is from, it doesn't take much for him to connect the dots and know why that happened, so he'll spare Alucard the ache of reliving that in any way.
But he does offer an understanding, solemn look. ]
I'm sorry. She must've been a brilliant woman.

[ changing dracula, a man who was known for his blood thirstiness was phenomenal. unfortunate then, that her demise would lead him into worse avenues. ]
I cannot speak of any love that I have. But I'm glad others hold to it strongly.

[ And he doesn't think he ever will, not entirely. There are always people worth believing in, and fighting for. ]
