Who: James T. Kirk
Broadcast: Network - open to all
Action: all around the SS Red Fish + SS Heron
When: Right now, and throughout the following week
NETWORK BROADCAST ▹ VIDEO;
[ Jim's staring seriously at the camera as the broadcast begins, concern visible on his features. He might be easily recognizable to most everyone on the Fleet, but as soon as he starts talking, it will become obvious that he is not the same man, or at least not having the very same memories. Not of this place, that's for sure. ]
My name is James T. Kirk. I'm... not entirely sure how I got here, but for what it's worth, I'm one of the new arrivals.
[ He presses his lips, glancing around. ] This isn't the first time I've been brought to a universe other than my own, but I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience. Coming here from a place that's not your reality of origin.
[ A pause, ] Specifically, has anyone here heard of Riverview, or the Quarantine?
[ He can't help a hopeful look. A familiar face, any familiar face, will be welcome. He's looking for a specific one, admittedly, but he's not holding his breath on that one. ]
Thank you in advance.
ACTION ▹ SS RED FISH
[ Once he makes that broadcast, he'll be exploring his new location, so he knows what he's dealing with. He can be found roaming the ship, poking his head into all the nooks and corners, and possibly trying to sneak his way into off-limits locations, if there are any. Stop him getting into trouble, or help him? Or just come say hi to a not-quite-new face. ]

No. I mean– I know there's another James Kirk on the fleet, but I'm not him. I'm... another one.
[ And also sort of the same, almost. Look, it's all very weird and timeywimey. ]

[He clears his throat before putting on his classic charming Lance smile.]
Well, nice to meet you, other Kirk! The name's Lance. Er, I'm probably gonna have to figure out something else to call you so I don't mix you up with the Jim I know. Any preferences?

[ One never knows, with an infinite number of possible alternate universes out there. Maybe he does have a clone somewhere. ]
It's nice to meet you, Lance. [ He chuckles. ] Jim's fine, if you call the other one Kirk. Or the other way around. I'm not picky.

[Boy that was a thing.]
I call the other one Jim. He's basically a big brother to me. So Kirk for you it is!
no subject
[ So now he can lowkey worry about possibly being a clone?? Fantastic. ]
Kirk, then. [ He smiles a bit. ] Like a big brother, huh? That's... nice. I had someone like that, too.

[...Which is very, very plausible, considering said witch is on this fleet, but.]
Well, what I mean is, don't worry.
[He notes the 'had' and frowns internally.]
The best thing I find about this place is that it's really conducive to making friends--to making family. And I'm sure you'll find that soon enough.

Thank you. I feel infinitely more soothed now.
[ Evil space witch, not so much. But evil megalomaniac? Check. ]
Neither was Riverview, but I didn't let that stop me. Even if I do miss them now... they still matter to me. They'll still matter for as long as I can remember them, even if I might never get to see them again.
[ He shrugs. ] And conductive or not, I already have family here. My fiancé, who got here just a week ago.

Riverview? Was that where you came from before? And oh! Well, having a fiancé here will definitely help you in getting adjusted and all that. A familiar face in an unfamiliar place.

And yeah, that's pretty much how I feel. I had my best friend with me the last time and that helped a lot, too. Though... well, I guess having me around also helps. And Chekov. I'm definitely not alone.

[To say the least.]
I was lucky enough to have two of my teammates here when I first got here. Don't know what I would've done without them. But yeah, I'm definitely glad to hear that.

[ And then the other times... were maybe a little less good. But all in all, Jim was honestly glad that he'd gotten to be there, if nothing else then simply because of all the people he got to meet. ]
Yeah, it's... really, people seem pretty friendly and willing to help so far, but it's different, having people you know around. People you already know you can trust.
