[Sora is an islander, and because of that he's not really equipped to deal with snow. He seems to have found a couple of jackets and a beanie that makes his hair stick out in odd ends and is tolerating it for now. Despite the cold, he seems pretty excited by being in this world, buzzing with a kind of pleasant energy.]

I found out we can go hunting here! Who wants to go with me to hunt a big animal? Oh, maybe a bear?! If they even have bears here.

Are bears a thing here?

I mean it, though! It would be a ton of fun, living off the land, seeking out a nice big haul for the people here, selling it and making everyone happy! I just....

Uh... I might need a bit of help making sure I don't freeze to death? So who wants to go??

That all sounds super neat! Why not healing though? Cure is super useful.

It's, uh, it's been a while since I cast any magic. Some stuff that happened back home took that ability away, but I can relearn it!

Where I'm from you gotta follow certain rules before you can use healing magic, and I don't like those rules, so I don't bother. There's other people better suited for that.

[She shrugs her shoulders. God-worship just isn't her thing.]

I can't help you when it comes to learning that stuff, sorry. But if you ever wanna talk shop for elemental spells, I'm a pro!

It's kind of weird to think how some things are the same and others totally different in others worlds, right?

Sure, yeah. It's not something I've had a lot of experience with, actually- I've visited a ton of different worlds over the years, but most of 'em had a very similar type of magic. Here? Not so much.

It's funny, because that's the same for me! I wonder if... the rules for that stuff changes when you cross through whatever it is that separates this universe from ours and ours from each others?

That's a good guess! And yeah, it might be something like that. Exploration between planes of existence can cause magic to get all wibbly-wobbly in funny ways, and if you start mixing rules together the universe has to shift to compensate for it. Sort of like, "nature finds a way!" but with arcane energy.

Man, all of that sounds super complicated...

[She laughs.] That's arcana for you! It's good though, right? If everyone could understand and cast magic super easily, the universe would be a lot more dangerous than it already is.

But also more people could heal themselves and others. Or defend themselves from monsters.

Moderation in all things, my dude. Magic isn't the only way that those things can get done, and not everybody would use that kind of power responsibly.

That's actually a really good point.

But, maybe they could learn that part?

What, healing? Sure, I guess they could if they're capable.

Mm, same answer. Magic can be pretty tough to learn. It'd be nice if everyone could use it, but that sort of thinking can be dangerous, too.

You think so? All I can think is if everyone could heal, they'd probably be a lot less angry when they stub their toes.

Magic isn't infinite, though. What if you wasted a spell slot on a stubbed toe and you needed that power to save someone's life later Sometimes you have to learn to live with a bit of pain instead.

Can't you just use ether then?

[She quirks a brow.]

Ether! It replaces your magic! Gives you back your energy.

Like how a potion helps you recover from wounds.

Huh... we just call that a potion back where I'm from. There's all different types, of course- for wounds, magic, poison, stuff like that. I didn't specialize in alchemy, but I learned the basic theories of artificing 'em at a school way back when.

Really?? I never learned anything about how to make them. I just bought them and used them.

Probably would have been a good idea, huh?

Prooooobably, yeah, but it's not so bad as long as you have a way to get them reliably. Alchemy isn't for everybody, and even I didn't know how to make that sort of stuff for most of my life.

Back where I come from, we mostly rely on moogles to make everything. Then they sell them to us.

Never heard of a moogle before. What's that?

Oh! They are these cute little guys who have round bodies and red balls floating on the top of their heads. They make and sell stuff, like potions, elixirs, armor, weapons, items. They're super useful and way friendly. When you talk to them they make this little noise like 'kupo.' They have shops throughout all of the worlds back home. It was super convenient when I was running low on what I needed.
