002 In Which Vampires are Silly
Who: Akeldama and you!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Planet side and Iskaulit
When: throughout December
Iskaulit library - actually more in late Novembershh
[What was Lord Akeldama to do with himself when he didn't have the life he normally lived at home? No drones, no going out to the see the latest show at the theater. None of it. So he had headed to the library. True, he typically only read what appeared in the gossip rags now-a-days, but that didn't mean he was incapable of a good book.
Well... that's if he could find a good book...
Curiosity had compelled him to look at one of the books on Earth history, but he clearly hadn't gotten very far, sitting there, drumming his nails against the table as he stared at one section]
Planet side - shopping!
[At the first possible opportunity, Lord Akeldama was shopping! He was sadly lacking in clothes and he wanted so much to be able to burn those horrid jumpsuits that had been given to him. They were a travesty against all things fashion after all.
So he could easily be found in the formal section of a clothing store browsing different options that fit his taste... in as many colors as he could possibly afford. He didn't like not having funds to just do whatever he wanted.
He had also found a fabric store while he was there, browsing quietly. Not like he could do anything with it after all. An unfortunate side effect of metamorphosis, no more creativity.
That was until he had happened to find a blue paisley fabric. It was exactly his style!]
This would make the most perfect waistcoat! A shame though...
Open Broadcast
[Of course here is Lord Akeldama and he has to make this a post. Why? Because he's showing off in a way. So he'd seen all of this about "ugly Christmas sweaters" which why would someone do that to themselves. But he had found something else and he was playing this off as if it is completely normal.
So Lord Akeldama is dressed in dark brown trousers, a sage green jacket, a rose gold cravat, and this vest as if it were a waistcoat. Nothing odd to see here, just a vampire in an ugly Christmas vest...]
This truly is a remarkable place. It has been so long since I've had the chance to visit a city such as this.
So what have been your favorite things to do here? I would like to know what all I have missed thus far.

Eventually, she settles on very lightly placing the tips of two of her fingers into the crook of his elbow. A delicate touch.]
If such destruction should satisfy you, I should warn you that they do return.
[There's a faint amusement in her tone. She doesn't care enough to bother destroying them repeatedly, herself, but she supposed he had a statement to make about it. Which was entirely fair, given how important fashion seemed to be to him.]
Either way, you should be able to earn enough here to ... build your funds to provide for your new wardrobe. Depending on how much time we have within the system, of course, but there is... work that can be found.
no subject
Do they? [A faint dramatic sigh] It can't be helped I suppose. Though it does mean I can burn them multiple times if the desire strikes.
I think I have found something that will provide me with some funding, which will be marvelous given I am in need of a new wardrobe and one of my friends from home is getting married so there are standards to maintain.
no subject
[For being on the fleet in time for his friend's wedding, and for them happening upon a system so... generously made for the occasion.]
no subject
So clothing for the wedding is top priority and then working on my wardrobe after that.
no subject
[Although this is the craft store and not the clothing store specifically, which ... brings another question.]
Were you searching for a gift here?
no subject
In a way. I was looking to see if there was any delightful fabric that could be used for new clothes. Also any trinkets that might be of interest to someone.
no subject
[With all that she had just purchased with Taako's guidance, honestly the thought of more than that is boggling.]
You must have a discerning eye for such things.
no subject
I do believe that I do. I am considered someone to look to for fashion trends and advice. Vampires positively set the trends.
no subject
I see. I should not dare doubt a claim such as that.
[Humor, in her own dry way. After all, she couldn't really talk; she'd just let an elf convinced of his own fashionista status influence her wardrobe, to rid her life of the dreary colors she had been drawn to.]
Perhaps many will be drawn to seek your advice.
no subject
In a way, he and Taako are similar. Just one's an elf and one's a vampire]
I do so hope. There are some in desperate need of fashion advice.
no subject
[Perhaps that was a concept that ran far deeper than the light-hearted topic of fashion. Her eyes flick toward the shelves around them, laden with accessories and trinkets.]
no subject
What sort of trinkets are you looking for, my dear starling? Perhaps I can help you find it.
no subject
[Which, she can't exactly judge someone she hasn't met, so she can only offer a half-shrug for his story, as he changes the subject.]
I had been considering ideas for new... table decorations. [It's something of a joke, because that's just what she did now. Dress the table on nothing but whims.] And... some gifts, perhaps.
no subject
Table decorations are an important matter and something to seriously. As well as gifts. We can assist each other in our shopping endeavors!
no subject
Perhaps. I... will admit that I am not certain how much assistance I could be to you in the venture you are on, but I will... honor your request.
[Shopping was hard enough when one didn't have an explicit goal in mind beyond finding something "suitable".]
no subject
Browsing is perfectly acceptable as well. Sometimes one needs to think on options before committing to a purchase.
no subject
[And if one is relatively new to gifting in a manner of speaking.]
This store does seem to have a variety of items, though there will be others with more. There is certainly a process...
no subject
[The amount of time to "sleep" for a vampire didn't matter. It was the fact the sun was up. As long as the sun was well and truly set, he'd be awake without ill-effects]
no subject
[If one put care into it. Or made the attempt to. Perhaps it would be the thought that counted.]
Is that your preferred condition of a planet? It is good that it benefits you in some way.
no subject
no subject
[Luckily, she was hanging around with Katie for a while, so she at least understands the terminology for seasons relating to earth.]
Being in space must have a different effect on your rest schedule. How do you account for it then?
no subject
It does, darling. I did turn to my darling friend who has been here longer for advice. I was attempting to follow what would be a normal day-night schedule as set by the ship's clock, but it was difficult. I think having been on a planet with periods of day light will help.
[Problem vampires literally becoming dead to the world when the sun was up: if there was no sun to start the cycle, the body wasn't quite sure what it was doing]
no subject
You are lucky to have those from whom you can seek advice on such things already here. One would hope whatever schedule you are able to establish here will last, once the ships resume their travels.
no subject
So, starling, can you tell me who you are buying for?
no subject
I seem to have found myself with a list, for a holiday I have never celebrated. But if I must hear about Candlenights, I will not leave our ship wanting for... some token.
[And very certain other individuals.]
... Although, perhaps you might make this easier for me and simply tell me what you would like.
[That might be a joke. Or it might be serious. However he takes that.]
