driftfleet | Mistletoe Mingle!

[ It's well before Jim gets caught under one of the plants that he realizes what's up. It seems to have caught practically everyone else on the Fleet by surprise, but Jim just so happens to have seen something similar happening back in Riverview, so this? Definitely not his first time.

And if there's one thing he's learned is that there's no point in trying to avoid it. It's more tiring to be constantly looking over his shoulder (or over his head, as it happens), than it is to just indulge in a bit of harmless kissing whenever he ends up trapped under one of the plants.

However, he had not anticipated... this. Not that he minds necessarily, but he definitely looks surprised when he ends up stuck in one of the force fields with his-- twin? For lack of a better word. ]

'tis the season, huh? [ He looks up at the plant, eyebrow raised, smile playful on his lips. ]

_{[ The plants were more of an annoyance than anything. While he didn’t
do much to change his routine or his plans, one could only smack against an
invisible wall so many times before it became bothersome. At least the
release mechanism was not to very unpleasant. Or at least he had not ended
up with anyone displeasing. This though - this was a scenario he hadn’t
quite prepared for, even if he might admit that, yes, he had thought about
it. What? Don’t give him that look, anyone would do the same. The curl of
his lips matches his twin’s, huffing a soft laugh. ]}

Remy will be so disappointed he missed this.

[ His smile stretches even wider at Kirk's comment, and he laughs. That prompts some serious thought, though, and he offers with a purse of his lips. ]

Well, we could always film it for him. Or take a picture. Of course that might be more torture than anything else...

[ But naturally, that's exactly the kind of thing that they'd do. ]

_{[ It is exactly the sort of thing they’d do. Blue eyes light up,
glancing around their current doorway, brain already debating the best way
to rig up one of the comms to take said video because let’s be honest - a
photo is worth a thousand, but a video is worth a million. His smile is
positively mischevious. Always a dangerous sort of smile on Jim Kirk.
]}

Between that and the little outfit you helped me pick out, I think he’ll find it feels like rapture.

[ Jim follows his twin's gaze, looking around too. They have a fairly limited area to move in too, given the force field, so if they do set something up to film them, it'll have to either do it automatically, or they'll have to find some way to set it up inside the field.

He snorts at that particular word, then shrugs. ] Alright, then. Find a way to make it happen, I'm not opposed to it.

_{[ His smile blazes, a little rock of his heels betraying his
excitement. The ideal angle would naturally be from eye level at the wall,
but there was nothing to truly secure it too. His eyes wandered further and
landed on the dangling mistletoe. Maybe... ]}

Think we could gerry rig something with that?

_{[ He pointed at the secured plant and looked down at his shoes. Laces
could work. Just had to avoid the camera. ]}

[ Jim watched, a little smile playing across his lips. Not that he wasn't curious about this, but he did seem better at taming his own excitement. He glanced between the mistletoe and Kirk's shoes, following both his gaze and his train of thought. ]

It's worth a try.

[ He knelt down (mind out of the gutter, Kirk) so he could undo that shoelace, then offered it up for Kirk to take. ]

Want me to hold the device while you tie it up there?

_{[ His mind only stayed there for but a moment when the other knelt. It
probably wasn't necessarily healthy to imagine your twin doing those sorts
of things to you, but, well, call him scientifically curious. Yes, that was
it. Even so, his fingers might have reached out to brush his other's hair,
ever so lightly, in his curiosity. ]}

We really do make a great team, don't we?

_{[ He smiled and knelt down to undo his own laces, just in case, and
stepped up to figure out the best way to do this. Nominally, it would be to
create a cradle for the device using two of the laces. It was only meant to
be temporary, after all. He got the loops in place and worked them around
the device, slowly letting go. ]}

There, I think that should work.

[ It was definitely taking their narcissism to a whole new level, admittedly. And Jim liked himself, but always in very healthy amounts. This whole thing would take some adjusting, though. Until then he couldn't help the way his skin tingled at the touch, little goosebumps raising on his nape. Yeah, this was gonna be... interesting. ]

Not sure everyone would agree.

[ Probably some would think of them as a pair of devils unleashed on the Fleet. Jim didn't care, though. They sure as hell were going to have fun with it.

Holding the device in place, he made sure to keep it steady until Kirk had secured it with the laces. He let go just as carefully, and once he was sure it was steady enough, he pulled up the camera, then hit play. Kirk could just cut out the start of the film later on, so it skipped right to the interesting bits. ]

Okay, we're all set.

[ He bit at his lower lip, eyes landing on Kirk's mouth. His hands slid up his front, curling around his neck, but even though he stepped closer, he didn't close the distance between them, curious to see just how eager and impatient Kirk was about this. ]

_{[ Devils. Angels. Mischief makers. Pains in the ass. There were a lot of terms to describe them, depending on who you were, really. Kirk had heard them all and then some, in a variety of languages no less. He had memorized a few, for laughs and for later use.

He didn't bother to hide the shiver when Kirk touched him, his head rolling faintly at the pressure of those fingers at the back of his neck. The small hairs stood up, smiling when he saw the other bite his lip. Odd, seeing that little quirk like this, but he was right - it looked good on them. ]}

These kind of things start better slow, don't you think?

_{[ Fingers grasped Kirk's hips in response to the fingers at the back of his neck, leaning in and brushing his lips across his twin's. Another brush, slowly drawing his other self in, adding a playful nip. ]}

[ Not that it surprised him that Kirk responded to the light press of fingers against his nape, but still it was nice to get that reaction, see what it looked like. It was odd, undoubtedly. Jim found that if he let himself think too much about this, he'd see how incredibly weird it was that he was about to make out with another version of himself.

Good thing that his twin was quick in making the first move. He sucked in a soft breath as Kirk pulled him closer by the hips, his head canting immediately when lips brushed over his own. The curiosity was practically killing him at this point, so he pressed his lips more firmly into that kiss, swiping his tongue across to get a taste. ]

_{[ Was it a victory, getting his other self to press for more? He liked
to think so, even though the curiosity practically short circuited his
brain. But it didn’t feel like it quite mattered once Kirk’s tongue brushed
his lip, obligingly parting them. He couldn’t stop to think how odd this
was, the sheer narcissism of it. The fact that it felt good, that it was
easy to fit their lips together, to tug Kirk closer and kiss him deeper,
wondering if the taste on his tongue was somehow different from his own.
]}

[ Curiosity was no doubt the driving force behind all of this, for both of them. They were both similar in that aspect, and far too eager too. It felt pleasant, incredibly so, and when Kirk parted his lips, he canted his head and slotted their mouths together, letting out a low hum as he felt Kirk's tongue brush against his, the sensation sending a lovely shiver running down his spine. ]

_{[ Objectively, he knew there was something rather worrisome about enjoying kissing yourself this much. Enjoying the hot tingle that pooled at the base of his spine, the subtle spice and vanilla that flooded his senses. Instinctively he pulled Jim closer, hips bumping, an undercurrent of want lacing the curious strokes of his tongue.

Honestly, he had rather forgotten they were even taping this. ]}

[ Narcissus would probably disagree with that statement, though it was for the best that they thought about all this in a very different sense. They were both attractive, and they were both good kissers; Jim liked the way he looked very much, and he had to assume Kirk felt the same way, so they likely found each other pretty attractive, even if it was weird and a little messed up.

Not that that was on his mind right now. If kissing Kirk felt wrong in any way, it wasn't because of who he was, but because of who he wasn't. And even as he let out a pleased sound into the kiss, his body shifting closer when Kirk tugged on his hips, he still broke the kiss with a breathless groan, turning his head to the side, eyes still closed. ]

_{[ He didn’t fight when the other pulled away. Didn’t chase. There was
the urge, at the far edges of want, but a burst of oxygen was enough to
remind him that Jim Kirk was a taken man. So was he, for that matter,
though perhaps in a less concrete way than his other self. He turned his
head, resting his cheek on his other’s shoulder, nuzzling his neck in an
absent way as he caught his breath. ]}

Why is it the best ones are always taken?

[ Though he was still slowly recovering his breath, he couldn't help letting out a laugh, a faint shiver rolling down his spine when Kirk nuzzled against his neck. Totally unfair of him, even if he wasn't doing it on purpose. ]

I'm sure you're not lacking in interested parties, so don't say that. [ He pulled back a little, patting Kirk's cheek lightly. ] Besides, sleeping with yourself... that's a whole new level of weird, even for us.

Is it?

_{[ He raised a brow, because it was them they were talking about here.
Was it really so strange to go so far? If only for curiosity’s sake than
anything. He certainly made no effort to hide the fact he was turned on. He
rather thought the groan gave him away besides. ]}

At least we both know how to take someone’s breath away.

_{[ He grinned, still boyishly flushed, pecking his other’s nose with
that patented smirk. Tit for tat, dear twin. ]}

Well. [ He paused at the question, then let out a sigh, canting his head. ] Maybe not that weird, but I am a happily committed man. And happily monogamous.

[ So yeah, he might be curious, but he wasn't so curious that he'd ever do something to hurt Victor like that. And the thought of inviting Kirk into their sex life, even just once, was maybe a little too much to bear, even for him. He didn't like to even think of Victor falling for some other version of him.

He let out a soft laugh, cupping his cheek, thumb stroking it gently before he pulled away. ]

Think that'll be enough to make Remy a very happy man?

_{[ Kirk understood, and while he had dared to press the line, just a
little, he was not so disrespectful as to keep pressing when he was clearly
being warned back. His curiosity would have to be sated with this kiss,
this moment between them. His curiosity was not worth damaging the kinship
he was forming with his other self, and even if they did not have this odd
sort of existence together, he wasn't the sort to twist up relationships.
At least, not on purpose. ]}

Oh, very happy. I'll be sure to show you the results of just how happy.

_{[ He smirked, having leaned just a bit into the touch on his cheek,
but did not follow when it was pulled away. ]}

[ Jim laughed at that, shaking his head. That was such a him thing to say, he couldn't help himself. ]

Alright. I mean, please don't bring me a video or anything.

[ He knew that wasn't what Kirk meant, but he couldn't help tease him a little. ]

Oh goodness no. Just a little hint. I think your imagination will be able to do the rest.

_{[ For every tease, another tease. An endless little game he didn't
think he would ever become bored of. ]}
