driftfleet | Mistletoe Mingle!

[ Jim sees Victor coming down the hallway, and spots the bit of mistletoe hanging just above the door he's approaching. He smiles wide, and picks up his pace, steps surer. No reason to stop Victor from walking straight into that field after all, is there?

He catches up just in time for them both to get trapped underneath the plant, hands resting on both sides of the door frame. His smile is wide, eyes shining as his gaze flickers up only briefly. ]

Fancy seeing you around here.

[Like Victor really needs to be trapped in an invisible force field to encourage him to kiss James. He beams at the other]

Yeah. So weird. How're you enjoying this planet so far?

[ True, they hardly need this kind of motivator to kiss, but still, it’s entertaining. Plus, if it’ll boost their views, it’ll earn them more money, which they’ll need for the wedding. ]

Quite a lot, actually. The hot springs are lovely, you should come with me sometime.

Of course I'll go with you.

[And he moves to do just that when he comes up against the invisible barrier. He tries again with similar results, then pushes against it with his hand]

Well, that's interesting.

[Leave it to a scientist to find something fascinating rather than worrying when he's trapped in a force field]

[ Jim smiles, an eyebrow raising in blatant amusement. He lets Victor study the force field for a little while before speaking up. ]

You didn’t notice? [ He then looks up, pointing at the plant above their heads. ] They’re all over the ships.

Sure, I've noticed those, but it's Christmas. It's traditional to hang those around. But why-- [He presses his hand against the field again, pushing hard to no avail]-- why would their presence trigger this? And does it only work if there's someone else close by to kiss and free you from it? Does it only work on doorways?

[Science babbling engaged]

Actually... from my experience so far, I can tell you that the force field is triggered even with just one person, and it does work in spots other than doorways. You don’t always have to kiss on the lips to break free, though. [ Jim’s run into a few twigs himself, and a few people already trapped by themselves, so he can offer some answers to hopefully satisfy Victor’s curiosity. ]

That's interesting. It's like magic where a kiss breaks the spell, except it doesn't necessarily have to be True Love's Kiss.

But I prefer the true love variety, personally. [He loops an arm around James to pull him closer. He could just get a kiss, but why not let the audience enjoy the build-up?]

Yeah, something like that.

[ Jim smiles a little wider when Victor pulls him in, his arms looping around Victor's neck all too easily. He doesn't immediately lean in for that kiss, though, more than happy to let the moment drag for a while longer.

He brushes his fingers through Victor's hair distractedly, letting out a soft little hum. ]

I'm a little partial to those too, admittedly.

[He loves the attention to his hair. He lets his eyes fall half-closed in contentment]

I went shopping with Jim recently. Gave him advice on buying gifts for a werewolf wedding.

Yeah? [ He keeps running his fingers through Victor's hair. He's in no particular rush to get out from under the mistletoe, and he loves the reactions he's getting out of Victor. ]

I went shopping with him, too. He helped me pick a few clothes for myself... and I helped him with some things for him and his boyfriend.

Oh, really? [He laughed, imagining the kinds of things James would pick out] His boyfriend's going to be thrilled.

It was a little strange a first, having two of you around, but now it's nice. He's... kind of like your family, you know?

Yeah, that's not the only thing he's gonna be thrilled about. We... got caught under the mistletoe together, earlier. Me and-- me. So that was something.

[ He's not getting into the details, because frankly he doesn't know how Victor would feel about them just yet. Weird though their lives have been, this is somehow still uncharted territory for them. ]

Right. Kind of like the long lost twin I never got to have. [ He chuckles. ] It's still a little weird for me, sometimes. But it's been fun. I like hanging out with him, so far.

Bet the audience loved that. And, ah... I sort of kissed him too. A little. But so what? There's mistletoe everywhere. We'll probably kiss a lot of people before it's gone.

[He nods] I like him, too. Is that okay?

Right. [ Victor is right, of course. Jim has gotten caught with a few people too so far, so he gets that. It's just harmless kissing, after all. But... a weird weight settles in his chest when Victor mentions kissing Kirk, a pesky little thing pressing into his heart, making him uncomfortable.

He curls his fingers into the fabric of Victor's shirt, pressing his lips thinly at the question. He's frowning while he puts some serious thought into the words he wants to say to that. ]

I guess... that depends on how much you like him.

[ He feels like an idiot. Maybe, a little. Seems so stupid to be jealous of himself, but here he is. ]

[Shit. He thought the encounter was relatively harmless, an indulgence toward his scientific curiosity, but that look is telling him otherwise]

James, he may look like you and be similar, but he's not you. And you're my rue love. It's that simple.

[ His eyes flicker up to meet Victor's, and he smiles, small but easily enough. No matter what's going through his mind, Victor never fails to make it at least a little better when he says Jim's his true love. ]

That simple, huh? [ He tugs on Victor's clothes, pulling him in and kissing the corner of his lips, lingering there as he sighs. ] Sorry. I know... that was stupid. I'm sorry.

No. I think if there was another me around, I'd feel a little jealous of you kissing him.

[He kisses James, brushing through his hair] You know, I could feel the difference. Kissing him wasn't the same.

And I'd probably be a little too curious to kiss him, so... I get that, really.

[ His smile eases, and he slides his hands down to Victor's waist, curling his arms around him and pulling him closer. ]

Good. Because you're mine. [ There's playfulness to his tone, but possessiveness too, the kind he doesn't often show, neither by need nor by want. He leans in and finally takes Victor's mouth in a proper kiss, as though sealing his words as a promise. ]

[James acting possessive is a rare thing, and he can't help being a little thrilled when it happens. He wraps his arms around James to kiss back. And though their mouths are the same shape, this kiss somehow fits more perfectly than the one he had with Jim. He sighs contently, nibbling at the mouth]

And you are mine, geliebte. I can give you any number of bites and bruises if you need something physical to show that off.

[The ring's an obvious clue, but the marks are a more primal sign]

[ Jim doesn't often feel the need to be possessive, but he can get pretty intense when it happens. Right now, it's just a taste of how he can get, as Victor is well aware by now. ]

Mm... [ He studies Victor's face, tracing his fingers down Victor's neck and throat. ] I do like the way you think.

[ Without further ado, he dips his head in and latches his lips onto the skin of Victor's neck, sucking hard and thoroughly so he works a bruise onto the skin. ]

[He lets out a gasp as James latches on, shivering feeling him sucking on the skin]

Mm. And I love when you read my mind.

[ He keeps working at the flesh, his hand on Victor's nape keeping him close. He's slow and thorough, careful too so he doesn't hurt Victor needlessly, then he pulls back to admire his own handiwork. ]

Mm... looks good. [ He drags his tongue across the bruise, sinks his teeth in a light bite around it, then pulls away to kiss Victor on the lips again. ]

[He keeps their next kiss short, as he wants to return the favor and gently bite into James's neck. He sucks on the skin, rolling his tongue over the flesh. When he's done, they have similar bruises]

There. That's better.

[ Jim lets out a soft gasp of his own, his head tilting to offer up more skin for Victor to work with. He bites at his own lower lip, getting warm all over from the feeling of Victor working his skin, and his face is a little flushed by the time Victor pulls away. ]

We match now. [ He smiles, eyes bright, as he brushes a thumb over the mark on Victor's neck. ]
