[ alucard smiles faintly. ]

I am familiar. People use it to ward off . . . unearthly elements such as myself and demons.

[winscenario]

Well, it's used for something else here. [ He presses his lips to suppress his own smile. ]

It takes an old tradition we have back on Earth and makes it a little more... literal. That plant creates a force field around you, and you have to kiss someone in order to free yourself.

[ananym]

[ okay, alucard stares dumbly because that's beyond the pale, even for him. ]

The . . . plant creates a field that we cannot escape unless we . . . kiss.

[winscenario]

Yes. [ He pauses, gesturing vaguely between them. ] Well, not we necessarily. I don't think I'm close enough to be trapped by it, so I could just call someone else you know, if you'd rather.

[ananym]

[ who could alucard possibly call on? for a brief moment, he just looks . . . lonely before he steels himself. ]

No. If I could ask for your assistance, I would be glad to have it. I have never . . . been with anyone at all.

[winscenario]

Really? [ Jim raises his eyebrows, visibly surprised by that piece of information. Finally he steps closer, so he's surely inside the force field. Just to check (could be a fake plant, one never knows), he tries to stretch a hand out, and feels his palm press to the invisible wall that's raised around them. ]

I find that hard to believe. You're very... beautiful. [ 'Handsome' doesn't quite do Alucard justice, Jim doesn't think. ]

[ananym]

[ his smile is almost invisible. ]

I never had much in the way of companionship. And looks aren't everything.

[winscenario]

No. They're not. [ He smiles a little, and lightly rests his hands on Alucard's arms. ]

Do you want to try for a cheek kiss, first? Usually it doesn't work, but you never know.

[ananym]

[ he probably feels cool, as always. ]

You are the expert. I defer to your knowledge.

[winscenario]

[ That hardly bothers him. Jim steps closer, if anything. ]

Alright. Then let's give it a shot.

[ He has to get just a little on his tiptoes to reach Alucard's cheek, where he presses a soft kiss, lingering for a couple of seconds before pulling away again. ]

[ananym]

[ it feels soft, despite the angular nature of his cheek and alucard smiles, touched. ]

[winscenario]

[ Jim smiles back, taking half a step back. ] Don't mention it. Now, let's see if that worked...

[ He stretches an arm out, and finds that there's no force field restricting his movements. He moves around some more just to be absolutely sure. ] See? All gone now. But I would advise you to put that plant back from where you took it, just in case.

[ananym]

Perhaps I should simply dispose of it.

[ the less mistletoe around, the better. ]

[winscenario]

Or that, yes. Just don't keep it around.

[ Lest that force field reactivates. Better safe than sorry. ]

[ananym]

[ alucard crushes it in his palms. ]

This might be the first thing that has caught me off-guard.

[winscenario]

Keep an eye out, then. There are a few more hanging around the ships, so you might find yourself trapped yet again.

[ananym]

[ alucard nods. ]

Will you be all right?

[winscenario]

Me? [ He chuckles softly. It's sweet of Alucard to ask. ] Yeah, I'll be just fine. I don't mind a bit of kissing, no matter who I end up stuck with.

[ Even himself, as it happens. ]

[ananym]

[ it's hard for him to fathom. mostly because his life is a #mess ]

I would prefer to avoid it as much as possible. I can't imagine the fangs help either.

[winscenario]

Oh, I don't know. I've kissed a few people with fangs and sharp teeth before, and I find it very... [ A soft, thoughtful hum. ] Exciting. I can't be the only one who likes it.

[ananym]

[ alucard gives a flat look at that. ]

That sounds concerning.

[winscenario]

Why? People are into all sorts of things, you know. You really shouldn't judge.

[ He raises his eyebrows, tone playful as he tosses a glance at Alucard. ]

[ananym]

[ there's faint humour in his voice. ]

It feels like playing with one's food. Or at least that's how most vampires see it as. There are very few exceptions to that rule.

[winscenario]

Is that so? [ He narrows his eyes playfully, smiling. ] Does that mean you see me as food, then?

[ananym]

[ wry. ]

That would be cannibalistic of me.
