[ WELL, this is Escha's second time being caught under some mistletoe...

She's texting as she walks, so she's paying just enough attention to her surroundings that she very politely offers an "Excuse me," as she passes by Lance hanging out in the doorway. Buuut she's not paying enough attention to notice she's just walked right under it too. Whoops. She hits the invisible wall, and stumbles backwards a couple steps. ]

Whaa--! Oww... [ She rubs at her forehead, looks up... and frowns. ] Oh no, not again... [ And then she looks over at Lance, smiling sheepishly. ] I'm really sorry!

[Until now, Lance has never had any issue accidentally bumping into people. But, well, that's all changed due to the Atroma.

He looks down at the girl standing next to him, looks up, looks back down, and gives a similar smile.]

Don't worry, don't worry! It's not your fault. This stuff keeps popping up when you least expect it.

[ She visibly relaxes, relieved that he understands the situation too. That definitely helps. ]

It does... Atroma must have gotten really desperate for ratings or something! [ A small attempt at humor~ ] Of course, that just means we all have to deal with it.

Pretty much the story of our lives here. So, um... The name's Lance. I don't think I've run into you here before.

[Look, he's a gentleman. There needs to be at least introductions before kissing.]

[ To his credit, it's definitely reassuring right now that he's being such a gentleman! ]

I'm Escha. I'm still a little new here, and I guess I should probably not stay in my atelier-- I mean lab so much. [ She smiles a little. ] It's nice to meet you! Even if the mistletoe makes it a little, um, odd.

[ She takes a deep breath. She's going to be a good sport about this! ] Okay! How should we... do this?

It's nice to meet you too, Escha. Welcome to the fleet. This stuff, er, doesn't always happen, but you should always expect the unexpected.

[He gives her an apologetic smile.]

It alright if I give you a kiss on the cheek? That should do it.

I'm beginning to see that, yeah!

[ She laughs a little - good-naturedly, if a little nervous. ]

That's fine with me! Um, thanks for being so understanding. --Oh! I know! Do you like cake? I could totally make you a cake for being so cool about this.

Hey, hey, don't worry about it. I'm as stuck as you are. I love cake, but I don't need to be rewarded for being a good person.

[If it was a year and a half ago, he'd definitely go "Kissing a cute girl like you is its own reward", but that ship has since sailed.

Either or, he leans down to place a chaste little kiss on her cheek.]

She does turn a little bit pink in the cheeks, just because the whole situation is kind of awkward - by virtue of it being what it is... But in the end, it's really not so bad! Lance seems like a nice guy, and the kiss is over with pretty quick. Wonderful!

Once that's done, she tries to step out from under the mistletoe, waves her arms around just in case she's about to bonk face-first into a forcefield again... but it's gone! She beams. ]

Ah! We did it! Great!
