[ there's a silent snarl in alucard's lips as he doesn't even budge from trevor's push. ]

Then stay here and nurse your death wish, Belmont. Or choose a new name.

[ A sharp, humourless laugh, and he shoves again. They're going to fight. Trevor has decided it, even if Alucard's against it. He doesn't have his whip and this is stupid, and he doesn't care. ]

You'll take what you can fucking get, and if we fail because you're an idiot who pinned his hopes on something that doesn't exist then tough fucking shit. Wallachia doesn't deserve a Belmont. Wallachia barely deserves a drunk.

[ alucard doesn't yell because he's not a yeller, but every bit of his quiet tone carries his strength. he still doesn't move, though the fingers in his hand twitch slightly. ]

Discard the parts of you that aren't useful to me, Belmont, so you can make a better little sacrificial lamb.

[ Have you ever heard a stupid voice being done with such absolute contempt? Now you have. ]

[ his hand reaches out to grasp trevor's neck. ]

Or have you forgotten what sacrifice looks like? I am giving up my family.

[ And he swings an elbow into Alucard's face. ]

[ alucard loosens his grip, unsteady, baring his teeth. ]

You want a Belmont.

[ And he presses a short thumbnail against the inside of Alucard's wrist and presses it down hard to try to free himself. ]

You've got a Trevor. They aren't two separate fucking people.

[ananym]

[ for a brief moment, his grip slackens and his expression of anger dies down slightly. two people. in a way, alucard is two people as well. ]

Then choose one. I chose Alucard. And I chose you.

Trevor.

[ He takes the opportunity to push Alucard's hand away from his neck. It's going to bruise, but fuck if he cares. ]

Belmont doesn't work with vampires. Trevor's a little more pragmatic. Whatever gets the problem solved.

[ananym]

[ alucard lets his hand drop. he doesn't understand people and now, he feels the divide more keenly than ever. when his father leaves, forcibly, he'll be alone. there's no escaping that truth. there are no companions here. ]

[miraclewhip]

Oh, for fuck's sake.

[ He can see how Alucard practically wilts at that. One whole fucking emotion. He hates this.

And so he shoves Alucard backward, under another of those stupid fucking plants. ]

[ananym]

[ alucard stumbles back a little before straightening, confused. ]

Belmont?

[miraclewhip]

[ He can have Alucard sulking, and deal with that, or he can deal with whatever this leads to. Definitely-upset-vampire or probably-upset-vampire.

Fuck it.

He shoves Alucard again, back against the far side of the stupid fucking invisible barrier and slams his face right into his stupid fucking face, lips first, like a particularly mistletoe-approved headbutt. ]

[ananym]

[ so like a kiss right? because that's what alucard is assuming this is??? is this what all kissing is like??

either way, alucard's instincts kick in, as his fingers rest on trevor's shoulders and he kisses back, furious and confused. ]

[miraclewhip]

[ Fucking hopefully not all kissing is like this because his teeth are scraping against fangs and he's half considering pulling Alucard's stupid fucking hair and Trevor at least is going to be leaving this with bruised lips and several regrets.

One of which is going to be that during all the shoving he didn't quite account for the fact that the mistletoe will make the forcefield go away once it's done.

So hopefully Alucard is steady on his feet because otherwise he's going to be falling over backward with Trevor on top of him. ]

[ regrets is probably not what alucard would walk away with. it'd probably be confusion and maybe Feelings that he's never truly accounted for. the idea of accounting for any feelings he might get seemed pointless on the path he was taking. as such, he has no real idea what he's doing, though he's careful to hold back on any biting or nipping, not wanting to draw blood even if the closeness makes his body sing for more.

his back hits the ground with a loud thud that is sure to draw other people's attention, but alucard's more preoccupied in this strange fight, this physical closeness that he's never gotten to feel before and makes his head spin. ]

[miraclewhip]

[ His head slams into Alucard's, which is not the most pleasant experience in the world but at least makes this feel less like intimacy and more like the fight that it absolutely totally 100% is. The impact does finally break the kiss for just a moment before Trevor returns to it, softer this time. Because shit if the sight of Alucard lying below him looking confused with his hair fanned out around him like a stupid fucking halo doesn't inspire just a little softness.

He breaks this one after only a moment and pushes against Alucard's chest to sit up over him. This probably looks highly inappropriate, despite being fighting a vampire which is the more normal thing in the fucking world. But he's never really been in the habit of caring much what people think.

Vampire's first kiss pretty conclusively ruined. He can't remember if that was what he was trying to do, but he's going to frame it as his victory somehow. ]

There. Fucking happy now?

[ananym]

[ okay. okay, that happened. what happened, alucard still isn't sure of. he wasn't sure what he was asking anymore. he sits up slightly, hair falling over his shoulders. ]

Are you?

[miraclewhip]

I'll happy if you stop getting broody on me every time I decide to be more human than Belmont.

[ This is like a mirror of the end of their fight, isn't it? All he'd need to do to make it complete is to pull the vampire's hair and threaten to put his mouth on his neck.

Which doesn't sound like too bad of an idea, honestly. ]

I'm going to go along with your stupid quest. I'm going to go along with it as myself, useless asshole drunk and competent asshole Belmont both. Trevor Fucking Christopher Belmont. And you don't get to demand I throw away either of those things. Next time you try, I'll stop doing stupid shit like this. And you'll get bored.

[ a long pause. ]
