Mistletoe? It's a huge thing on some of the countries on Earth. You're supposed to kiss whoever is under it.

It also kills you if you eat it.

Any idea how it got tied to the whole winter celebration thing?

[He's not stalling so much as he's realizing he's just never...asked anyone before.]

No clue.

You know, back home I know a bunch of smart people because of the science officer on the Tempest. Her name is Suvi. Now I kind of wish I had asked her once, but it's not like Andromeda has mistletoe.

Suvi's great though. If she ever shows up here maybe we can ask?

[Gil might be offering another way to stall, because if Felix asks for more details about Suvi, or Andromeda, or the Tempest, he'd be willing to share.]

[Maybe he should want to stall. Because at some point he's going to have to kiss Gil and he has no idea what it's going to...do. To them, to the question left unanswered between them. And it's easy to pretend that they're just willingly hanging out in the hallway.

....Until someone comes through and wants to get by. It would probably be even less fun to do this with someone spectating. And that's going to happen, sooner or later. Still...]

[He'll always have more questions. But maybe...not right now.]

So, uh...I guess the key to our freedom is...a kiss. I don't know what the specific requirements are, though...

Yeah, that's probably exactly what they expect...

[He turns to face Felix head-on rather than being angled slightly away.]

I'm willing to try anything. Not that I might being stuck this close to you.

I mind the stuck a little. [But he smiles faintly at Gil.] Not the company. But I kind of like my mobility.

[Okay. ...Okay. This is happening.]

Well, I don't think we're going to get off with a kiss on the cheek or anything. [Phrasing, Felix.] So, uh...

[He steps in to Gil's space. Takes a breath, and then leans in to softly brush his lips against Gil's. He knows that Gil is into him, so there's no danger of...overstepping boundaries there. But that doesn't make him less suddenly nervous about it all.

...But also...excited. Because it's been a long while since he's kissed anyone who wants to be kissing him back. For both reasons, his heart has started pounding in his chest.]

[One of Gil's arms wraps around Felix, enjoying the closeness of his body, perhaps a bit more than he should since he should be giving Felix time to sort out his own feelings. The kiss is nice, exactly like he thought it would be, hesitant but warm.

When they pull back he can't help but grin at Felix.]

[When he pulls away, he'll notice that Felix's eyes have closed and that they stay closed for a moment or two longer.

It was...definitely nice. Gods, was it nice. Even if it was relatively brief, it was...nice.

He opens his eyes and clears his throat.]

...Well, that should...do it. [He's looking Gil in the eyes, for the moment.] Unless they want us to....really make out.

[Okay maybe not NOW. Though he's smiling faintly and awkwardly at his own (kind of) joke.]

Yeah, if I'm gonna make out with you, it's gonna be on our terms. Not theirs.

[He moves to see if they can move away.]

[It looks like they can! Felix watches, and sure enough Gil is definitely able to walk away from him and the hatchway they'd been stuck in.]

...Hey. I, uh...I know I still owe you an answer.

[mongoosecrow]

[Gil stops then and raises his brow.]

Yeah... I mean, eventually. There's no rush.

It's been months now.

[Felix, in fact, raises a brow right back, although he's also smiling very faintly.]

You've been more than patient.

[Maybe it's the fault of the kiss, but...Felix takes s deep breath, gaze flitting somewhere off to the side.]

I...don't know if it's a good idea to jump right into dating....but...

Maybe going out on a date. To see how it works out, you know.

They say 'good things are worth waiting for' don't they? I feel like that might be a saying.

[But the offer for a date is encouraging, and Gil grins.]

Yeah? Yeah! I'm in! What did you have in mind?

...Honestly, I hadn't thought that far ahead yet.

[Kind of a sheepish smile. He's been psyching himself up to the idea in general.]

[Gil chuckles.] We are kind of limited in our options so long as there's no interesting world to visit.

What about... dinner and then find a place to watch a vid or something? Gotta say, haven't had quite enough time to figure out what kind of terrible movies we have access to here.

And who knows if any of the entertainment I know would match what you know. Like, for instance, bet you've never seen a Blasto vid! Maybe they got one of those around.

Dinner and a terrible movie actually sounds pretty good.

[That smile is a little less sheepish now. It does sound good. Uncomplicated, without too many frills.

He can get behind that.]

I doubt there's any overlap between the movies I know and the ones you know. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll each find one. We can make it a double feature.
