[Kolivan has been getting more familiar with locations here but one thing is clear...he needs to keep up with his own personal training. This may be a peaceful time here but he knows there are dangerous people already in this place. People he needs to prepare himself for should they decide to be anything less than peaceful.

So he's either in the gym or the obstacle course when he's not attending to his duties on the ship he was assigned. It means he's not asleep much but then again it's not like he is one to spend much time at rest. Not when he feels that there is a very real danger he needs to be prepared for. Just in case. Because he doesn't ever want to be caught off guard again and overwhelmed. He wants to be able to face his foes head on and not lose.

This also means it's easy enough to come across him and even if he doesn't look your way instantly it seems rather clear that he already knows you're there. Like he sensed your arrival. But it's only when he's finished a series of complex movements (with his sword and legs in the gym or through the more complicated area of the obstacle course) that he actually acknowledges you.]

Do you need something?

[It's gruff but...he's always like this. Don't mind him.]

[Keith looked confused for a moment as he considered it. Then, he took a deep breath, letting it out in a small huff before closing his eyes.]

Who is in the room with us?

[That got a confused look on Keith's face, his brow furrowing a little.]

Just you and me.

Are you certain?

[The crease in Keith's brow turned annoyed as he frowned.]

Yes. You were alone when I came in, and no one came in after me.

[What was this all about anyway?]

Then where is your enemy?

[And he very suddenly moves to kick Keith from behind.]

[For a moment, it was like Keith had no idea what Kolivan was doing, which he didn't, but then it felt to him like that moment when they had been trying to stop Lotor's generals from stealing the teledav piece again. There was a strange feeling in the back of his mind as everything felt like it slowed down, and Keith had the sudden urge to move... so he did, dodging to the side, turning towards Kolivan, and bringing his arms up in front of himself, just in case.]

But we're not enemies!

Do you know why I had you close your eyes? Why I had you picture who was with you?

[Keith visibly tensed.]

No.

Because you are blinding yourself with your emotions. To fight someone you trust in a situation like this will teach you to fight when you have no choice. To not give it your all is an insult to them. So if you are going to blind yourself then you may as well do so completely until you can fight without hesitation.

[And just like that, he goes to kick at him again.]

[That kick caught him, as Keith was starting to get too far into his own head, and he grunted from the impact, stumbling away as he tried to stay on his feet. There was a moment of panic as he kept his arms in front of him, backing up, but his breathing started to slow down.

Okay, so this was starting to make sense. He needed to get out of his head and focus on the fight.

Patience yields focus.]

[He can already see that Keith is steadying himself. It's a start but it's not something he will fully believe in until he can see the entirety of the results. So he rushes at him, this time to throw a punch.

For now, he will keep his sword sheathed. For now.]

[The Blades were trained to be as quiet as possible, so Keith wasn't sure if he could rely on his ears. Honestly, more than anything, he hated not being able to see. He tended to absorb information best when it was visual, and being forced not to use his sight was harrowing at best, terrifying at its worst. It was slight, but Keith was pretty sure he could hear movement indicating Kolivan's charge. He wasn't honed enough to call on whatever it was that happened earlier whenever he wanted... he didn't even know what it was, so he had to rely on the senses he knew for sure he had and how to use.

He couldn't see through the eyes of his Lion when his Lion wasn't there...

Keith clenched his teeth as he waited. He needed to be sure. But there it was... the rush movement, almost silent, and Keith shifted, barely taking a glancing brush of Kolivan's hand.]

[The first punch is followed by a second. It's a cruel thing to force Keith to defend himself blind or even to fight blind. But the life of a Blade is a cruel one to begin with and this is a harsh lesson that he feels he needs to learn.

What better way to show him the dangers of doing into a fight blinded by something than to actually have him go in actually blind?

And after that second swing, he continues to move so he can get behind Keith. He's not going to make himself an easy thing to defend against. Not at all.]

[The second landed pretty solidly, and Keith fell back to the ground. He scrambled quickly to get back on his feet, knowing Kolivan wasn't going to let up on him so he could take a break and recover. He squeezed his eyes tighter, resisting the urge to look.

The hair on the back of his neck tingled. Behind him...

He launched a kick backwards...]

[And his hand comes to catch that foot so Keith can't fully land the kick. But he's pleased to see him fighting now. Stopping the attacks, he releases the foot he's holding.]

From now on when we train, I want you to train blind. When you can see beyond your heart then can use your eyes again.

[He's honestly just trying to help Keith here.]

[Kolivan would feel Keith's leg tense in response, pulling back and away before he'd even released it, but he stumbled a few steps before catching his balance again once he was free. He finally did just give in and look at Kolivan now as he gave those instructions.]

...

[That was... well... For a second, he looked worried. Keith did not like not being able to see. But there was a visible change in his features from worried to determined.]

Fine.

[He wasn't going to turn down a challenge, even if he freaked him the heck out.]

You can leave for now. You will need rest to prepare for the next time we train together.

[Keith almost argued to keep going, but figuring out his limits was something he knew he had trouble with at times. His fist tightened at his side, and he took a moment before he responded.]

Next time, then.

[He took a breath to settle his nerves, determined not to go stalking across the Iskaulit in a fit of rage. He really didn't want to draw attention to himself right now...

He turned and left without another word.]
