[Kolivan has been getting more familiar with locations here but one thing is clear...he needs to keep up with his own personal training. This may be a peaceful time here but he knows there are dangerous people already in this place. People he needs to prepare himself for should they decide to be anything less than peaceful.

So he's either in the gym or the obstacle course when he's not attending to his duties on the ship he was assigned. It means he's not asleep much but then again it's not like he is one to spend much time at rest. Not when he feels that there is a very real danger he needs to be prepared for. Just in case. Because he doesn't ever want to be caught off guard again and overwhelmed. He wants to be able to face his foes head on and not lose.

This also means it's easy enough to come across him and even if he doesn't look your way instantly it seems rather clear that he already knows you're there. Like he sensed your arrival. But it's only when he's finished a series of complex movements (with his sword and legs in the gym or through the more complicated area of the obstacle course) that he actually acknowledges you.]

Do you need something?

[It's gruff but...he's always like this. Don't mind him.]

[Lance gives a little hum to himself. He has an idea, but he'll save it for a last emergency tactic. Which might end up coming at some point. But honestly, Kolivan does have some point about emotions. Lance had gotten better with training with Ulaz, and he should be used to facing a large Galra opponent, but his anger at seeing the bruises on Keith's body from his training with Kolivan was getting the best of him.

Stupid everything.

Another deep breath, and he twists his sword to slide off of Kolivan's, immediately bringing up to try slashing across his chest.]

[Though Kolivan dodges the attack, he at least sees that Lance is putting his advice to use. That is a start he can approve of and he nods. A little. Honestly one could almost miss it if they didn't know what to look for.

Stepping to the side, he waits.]

Why are you angry that he was bruised from sparring with me? Do you feel he cannot defend himself?

That...

[He tries to find a way to explain. Though even so, he doesn't know if Kolivan would fully understand.]

Of course I think he can defend himself. He's a hell of a lot stronger than me, than a lot of people I know. It's just... Seeing the person you love hurt kinda lights a fire in you, makes you want to do something, anything about it. I know we're paladins, I know we're always in danger and this isn't the first or last time I'll see him bruised. But love and all those feelings with it don't always follow clinical logic. For better or for worse.

Yet you are aware that he is safe. Bruises will heal and he will be fine. It isn't like a loss of life where you cannot recover what is lost.

[He knows that personally. Because he's been there for that one.]

Yeah. I know that. But just because it isn't the worst case scenario, doesn't mean that something lesser still can't hurt.

Then be upset with him for allowing himself to be struck. For putting himself into that position. That was his own doing.

Are you serious? [He frowns.] You're really telling me to pull the blaming the victim card? It's not like he pulled a me and routinely throws himself in the way of bombs and stuff, it was just training!

[Lance just...sighs, raising his sword again.]

Okay, look, we're obviously from two complete opposite schools of thought. I don't think you're gonna get my perspective, and I'm probably not gonna get yours.

[His eyes narrow dangerously suddenly at the mention of "victim card".]

Get out. I will not train with anyone who would call one of my Blades a victim.

[And he turns away, refusing to continue with this training session.]
