[the fleet's resident, soft-spoken teen goth shows up on screen... backed by several bookcases filled with books! and maybe a couch back there. she waves, awkwardly.]

Uh, hey guys. Good news, the Bishop's library actually made it through the whole space-fight thing pretty well. The electronic tracking system is still down, but that's why people invented pencils and stuff.

[she gives the camera a funny look.] --No, actually, I'm pretty sure it's... the other way around. ... So nevermind.

[she holds up a very... charred-looking book. it had a red cover, once.]

The bad news is that "The Romantic History of the Galactiplastic Sector 9" totally bit it. So, uh. If there was a waiting list, we're gonna have to put this one on hold for a while. Alternatively, if anyone would like to play a little funeral tune, now's the time.

[she just. drops it flat on the floor. it's dead to her.]

So, um, for everyone who doesn't know... Me and a bunch of other people around here have been putting together a little library in the spare room on the Bishop... The ship's still kind of a mess from the fight, but anyone's welcome to come in and read or check out books, or whatever. We take donations and basically whatever stuff people bring us.

And we've got beanbags. And little lights that go "wowowo..." [accompanied with a little finger-wiggle and a totally straight face.] So if you're into that. This might be your jam.

[alternatively, if anyone comes to visit the library--it's a personnel room that's been outfitted with lots of bookcases, a couch, a table covered in archival materials, and several beanbags that you can drag around and sit in...

the collection is still small, but there's a little something for everybody! fiction, nonfiction, history, magic, charts, maps, comic books, whatever. Krista's around, probably putting books back on a shelf.]

[Beverly is definitely curious about the library, so when she finds time, she wanders over to the Bishop. Besides, it's a good excuse to check in on Krista. Seeing that the teen is absorbed in her work at the moment, Beverly starts examining the spines of the books on the shelf nearest the door. Picking up one at random, she starts flipping through its pages, taking more interest in the physical book itself rather than its contents, since at home she does most of her reading on a PADD.

She puts the book back in its proper place and continues to look around. None of the titles are familiar to her. Even though it is completely reasonable that this is so, it is still somewhat disconcerting and yet another reminder of how far away from home she is.

Eventually, she decides to approach Krista.]

Hello, Krista! I hope you don't mind me dropping in on you like this.

[she was a little distracted. she had to boss Coil around a bit. now her arms are free and she finally notices that her doctor is here! she looks surprised, but not for long.]

Oh, hey! No, that's totally fine. I did send out an invite to like, the whole fleet.

Well, I must admit to having an ulterior motive than just wanting to look at the books. How's your head doing?

Whaaat? [she winces a little...] Secret doctor's visit...

[she touches the sore spot on her scalp, though. gingerly.]

But I think I'm doing okay. Hasn't been hurting as bad, or anything.

I know, I'm just terrible. [And she doesn't sound at all sorry about it.] But I'm glad you're doing better. You're already looking much more alert, so that's an excellent sign. You should be right back to normal in a day or so.

I did have a book question for you, though. Have you gotten hold of any star charts for this region of space?

Oh, yeah. The random panicking has subsided and everything. Who knew?

[...so her smile's a little embarrassed, but she's happy to help with something else.]

Um... You know what, I don't think so. We have some rudimentary ones from back on the planet we were just at, that might overlap...

[She nods.] That's better than nothing, I suppose. Where are they?

Right over here...

[she will lead her across the room... it's not big, so she probably could have found it herself, but still. there's a series of flat drawers in the corner that roll out to reveal some very well-labeled maps and star charts.]

You can thank Sokka for starting this one... He's kind of a map nut, I think.

Really? I had no idea! He's never mentioned it...

[Leaning over the drawers, Beverly leafs through the charts and picks out a few promising-looking star charts to lay out on one of the tables.]

Do you know where these were taken from?

You guys are on the same ship, right...?

[not that she stalks her friends or anything. or, um. anyway.]

That, I... Don't, off the top of my head, but I bet we could look up the logged coordinates of the planet. Maybe even the town.

Yes! He's my captain. [That still feels odd to say, and probably will for a long time.] The topic has of maps just hasn't come up yet. [Her jaw tightens momentarily as she thinks about their last planet.] Probably because I spent the better part of last month avoiding Mor.

But that's a good idea. We only recently received a pilot on the Blue Fish so I haven't had a chance to look at any navigational logs.

Oh, yeah... Wasn't your thing, huh?

[she probably should have phrased that a little more delicately, but she's busy looking over her hands at the charts that Beverly's pulled out...]

You can totally check those out if you want. We probably should have like, laminated them or something, but a couple of trips out should be fine.

[Dryly] You could say that.

[She feels no need to elaborate, so she continues to look at the charts.]

Are you sure? I don't mind coming over here to look at them.

[Also, she's not entirely sure what Krista means by "laminated" but she assumes it has something to do with preservation.]

[she... totally gets it. and sure isn't about to ask further.]

Oh, I don't mind either... Whatever you... [she was about to say "whatever you think is best", since she is an adult and all... but... Krista is the librarian here! and she knows about maps and things! so she tries again.] ...Actually, I've changed my mind. Leave them here, until I can at least make sure we've got copies of everything.

[nodding to herself, a little.] B-But you're welcome to stick around as long as you want. And come back whenever.

[An amused smile tugs at the corner of Beverly's mouth as she nods her assent to this plan. It's a good thing for Krista to assert herself.]

Thank you. Although, [staring down at the charts again with a slight frown] to be honest, I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for.

Yeah, that sounds like... Basically my whole life.

[she looks down at those star charts too, frowning...]

But hey, uh, gotta start somewhere. That's part of why I'm bothering with the library at all... Maybe we can find something about these worlds or Atroma or whatever, in all of these books... Or when we run into future space-wasps, someone will have already read about space-wasps. It's the little things.

Hmm... I can't say I've ever run into any space wasps but I have encountered other spacebourne lifeforms - even helped deliver one of them - so it's not impossible.
