So it seems that not everything is as it was when we went into the calibrations. Of course we have added crew members to various ships and I would like to welcome them.

It is also regrettable that the Blameless has lost their previous captain as I have been promoted to the position. I hope though that he is well.

[For the first part after returning, Ulaz spends a great deal of time on the Blameless almost as if nothing has happened, taking over the captain's positions. But his crew will notice that at least initially, he is spending more time sitting in the dining room.

It is also likely that on the first evening, the crew and anyone who might be visiting will notice a random bottle of beer sitting in front of the door to the captain's room. It's full and unopened and just... there. If it gets removed, eventually another will appear in its place later in the evening.

The second day, the one that was there last is removed by Ulaz and another one doesn't replace it.

During this time, he can also be found on the Iskaulit as well, doing his usual training.

Action - Closed to Biffy
[The first evening, as soon as the sun has properly set and it has been given at least what he considers a decent amount of time, Ulaz heads to Biffy and Lyall's room. He pauses at the door for a moment and then knocks]

[His blue eyes widen in surprise. That really isn't at all what he was expecting this to be about. Though, he can understand why he would wish to come to him. They are close and Ulaz is aware of his leadership abilities. Really it's quite the practical way of handling things. Besides, it's better for a leader to have a second in command as it were.

And the rest of him? Is truly just touched that Ulaz would ask him.]

You would like me to apply for the position?

[Ulaz is very much aware of Biffy's leadership abilities. Maybe not as much first hand, but he has heard such things from Lyall and from the vampire on the other ship though Ulaz doubts either would ever say a negative word about Biffy, either because of bias or because there's nothing to say]

Yes, I would like for you to apply for the First Mate position.

I would be honored to.

[He reaches forward to touch the other man's arm. He knows this isn't going to be easy to lose someone you care about. But he can at least support the man.]

I will go fill out the paperwork then come find you when it's done. It likely won't go through right away but I can at least come help you look over the ship.

[As Biffy puts his hand on his arm, he moves his hand to touch Biffy's. He appreciates the gesture. He will miss Shiro and so soon, it's still a lot to take in]

Sounds good. I'm sure it will take a few days, but there's no reason you can't start.

[He has the position as far as Ulaz is concerned. Granted he doesn't officially make that call, but he can't see why Biffy wouldn't get it]

Of course. I will come find you when I am done.

[Since he has to fill out the paperwork and it will take at least a few minutes. But it won't be hard to find Ulaz after that. Not with a nose like his.]

If you see Lyall before I do, would you mind letting him know?

Of course. If I see Lyall, I will let him know that I have asked you.

[And he won’t keep Biffy from going off to fill out the paperwork, going off to do something else, waiting for Biffy to catch up with him]

[Once he's done, he comes to find Ulaz, making his footsteps audible so he won't startle him at his approach.]

What are we currently up to?

[Ulaz’s hearing is pretty good but he still appreciates the effort for the werewolves to not be silent. He’d seen a few times that even human, they could move around without a sound when it was night and most people were abed while they were still up. It was beyond eerie he thought]

Right now, I’m running through all the check that would normally be done. It has been over a month since we’ve been on the ship and I want to make sure everything is in working order.

From what I've been able to tell everything is exactly as we left it. Is that what the results are so far?

That is what I have been able to determine yes. From what I have seen, nothing is amiss and those who have reported about their stations have report nothing is out of place.

Which is good that we are not having to scramble to make repairs.

I'm grateful. It seems we have enough emotionally to deal with without having to contend with these factors as well.

[He sighs gently.]

I checked the door for the cargo hold and it still holds strong as well for the full moon periods.

I agree. Dealing with the lose of our captain at the same time as repairs would make it harder.

[Ulaz had it on his list to make sure that the werewolves’ full moon space was intact, but he wasn’t the one to judge its adequacy. So he was glad that Biffy had already taken the initiative to check the room]

Good. We don’t have to worry about that.

[That would have been a top priority if it was damaged. Considering he'd spared with Lyall and that had been hard enough when he was able to think and reason]

Do you have a list of the cargo contents? I could go see that everything is there.

[Ulaz flips through the pages of papers that he has been carrying around, quickly finding the list for the cargo contents. A mental note that he’ll have to take these around so everyone can double check to make sure their station has everything]

This is it here. We can do it together to save time if you'd like the help.

That would be wonderful. Having someone taller than myself will help for the places I can't reach.

[Never mind that he can easily jump and climb to those places. That is not what a gentleman does.]

Of course. Height does have an advantage. Lack of height does as well in the right situation.

[Considering a lot of things here were just not designed for someone of his height]

As in, I can get into areas you might not be able to manage? Well, as long as it doesn't ruin this suit, I think I can manage that.

As in many others can get into areas I cannot. Of course, as long as the suit will not become a causality.

[See? He's learning fashion is important]

[Especially so for two werewolves and one vampire. If nothing else, he's going to respect that]

Hopefully the calibrations were not too bothersome for you.

There were a couple of things that were mildly uncomfortable but it does seem that Lyall and I were able to avoid having to worry about the full moon during that time at least.

[He's grateful for that.]

That’s good at least. The situation would have made that so much harder if you had been affected by the moon as well. Not just for you, but for everyone.

[He'd already fought Lyall one on one. He didn't want to have to manage more than one and in full change]

You've fought with Lyall already. Now imagine a wolf far stronger than him on top of having to deal with him.

[He's not bragging either. It's just a fact that he is far stronger than his husband. It's the very nature of him being an Alpha while Lyall is a Beta.]

I have, but not in full wolf form. I would not want to deal with him in wolf form. I also wouldn't want to deal with more than one in wolf form.

[Forget the fact that Biffy is stronger. He still wouldn't want to do it even if he wasn't]

I wouldn't wish for you to either. Far better that we can be contained during the full moon.
