Have you been sleeping out here every night?
And I could eat I suppose? I don't think I've ever had to eat fish made over a campfire before.
[Tim hovers, not sure where he should put the fish he has. Not wanting to have them touch the dirt]
Have you been hunting for these beasts that the people here are obsessed with?
no subject
Bring your fish over here. [Manji spreads out a bit of cloth and indicates for Tim to set them on top.] I'll show you how to cook it. Ain't that hard. Just shove a stick through it and then jam the other end between some rocks and wait.
[Which Manji will show Tim as well. Going through the motion a bit slower as with strong hands he jams the stick through the fish without breaking it. He has a few he's been using next to the fire place and he offers one up to Tim.] Wanna give it a try?
[At the mention of the beasts Manji gives a dismissive wave of his hand.] Those things? Naw. I'm not looking for that kind of hunting. I just want what I need to survive and going after beasts? Sounds like more food than I need.
no subject
[Tim will lay out the fish as instructed and follow Manji's instruction as follow but he's honestly not sure if he should eat this. He has no idea if this fish is even safe to eat and he hardly thinks the stick was very hygienic, to begin with.]
I'm really not sure if I should be eating this...
[He tries nibbling on it a little bit, like a kid who doesn't want to eat his peas]
I thought you might enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Tracking something through the wilderness, seeing if you can do what the locals here can not.
no subject
[Manji bites right into his fish. Chewing carefully and picking out a bone or two as he does.] Of course you should. If you don't want to waste good, decent food you should. It's fine. I've had a few of these fish alright so they ain't poison or anything. Just chew and be careful with the bones like any fish.
[He gives a lazy swat at the air with his hand at Tim's other suggestion.] Bah. I get no thrill from hunting something that's mostly defenseless. I get the thrill of fighting something that can fight back and give me a challenge. Honestly? I'm not that great at tracking. [For once he's probably not giving himself credit. He's probably much better than an average modern day person, but he's only decent compared to most in his time.] I know enough to get by and fill my stomach and that's all I think I need to know. I don't see any point wasting my time chasing after something that might not even exist.
no subject
I thought it might be thrilling? There are the rewards for any evidence that we can find and well, it gives us something to do here? I'd be interested to see if any of the stories are true, although I doubt it.
Plus I've never gone Bigfoot hunting before, it could be something to cross of a bucket list I might make someday.
no subject
But I suppose it would give you something to do. Just don't get yourself killed. Someone might miss you. Probably. [Not Manji. No, no. Never him. That's why if he heard you got killed by a monster he would go on a rampage and kill them all. Not because of the missing thing, but because of other things. Reasons. Yeah. Reasons. So just shut up about it already.]
Although I got two questions. What's a Bigfoot? And what's a bucket list? Pretty sure a bucket is a stupid thing to write a list on. Unless I suppose it's a list of water sources or something, but I don't see how a large foot would get on there.
no subject
[Tim will eventually work his way through most of the fish before he puts it aside]
I wouldn't get myself killed but it's nice to know that you'd miss me
[Tim smirks]
A bucket list is a list of things you want to do before you 'kick the bucket' or you know die. It's not a thing everyone does but it's usually filled with things that are kinda once in a lifetime things. Skydiving, bungee jumping, visiting Rome or other far off places, and all that stuff.
And Bigfoot is a myth from my planet of a creature that walks through certain forests. It's a lot like the stories here.
no subject
[He thinks over what Tim says about the bucket list. It makes sense.] Why the hell is diving into the sky a bucket item? You can jump into the sky anytime.
no subject
Well because you're diving into the sky from 13,000 feet or more straight up. [He'll point straight up] That's taller than Mount Fuji by about a thousand feet. It's an incredible rush, free falling from that height.

no subject
For fun! It's an extreme adrenaline rush. The pull of the wind as you just free fall straight down.
I mean you don't do it without a parachute [Or some other exit strategy. Superboy totally counts as an exit strategy] which you pull at a certain height and it catches and slows your fall until you come to the ground.
We should do it sometime, or even just go swinging around any city we can find. I've been working on making a grapple gun again for just in case.

[Tim looks out back to the river and squints for a moment before standing up suddenly.]
So, you've been camping out here this whole time and haven't encountered anything strange at all?
no subject
[He notices the way Tim suddenly stands up, but doesn't think much of it. Assuming it was the boy being a weird idiot like normal.]
Strange? Naw, not really. I think there might be some sort of wolf or something 'round here. Sometimes I come back and somethin' has stolen my food.
no subject
[Tim will step around the fire, putting it and the food between himself and the large prehistoric size creature lumbers its way out of the water. Its head, neck and tail resemble that of a giant snake while the body could easily be mistaken for a prehistoric crocodile. His hands reach for Manji, trying to grab a sleeve to pull him up from his seat]
no subject
[Oh. That is a very large animal.] What the FUCK is that thing!? [No pulling needed. Manji is jumping to his feet and drawing his sword.] The FUCK. [It seemed worth saying again.]
no subject
I don't know? A loch ness monster? a bunyip? a killer croc?
[Tim sniggers to himself. Jokes may be his automatic reaction to these kinds of situations]
I might suggest running, maybe climbing a tree?
no subject
It better be a tall one. Go! Fly off, Robin! [He spreads his legs into a fighting stance and his muscles tensing up. Staring the strange creature down with a grin slowly spreading on his face. Guess who's getting the idea of fighting the monster?]
no subject
I didn't mean just me! You're supposed to be running too!
[Too late, maybe the creature senses the threating stance, maybe it just really wants to food but the creature starts to charge at Manji, it's giant flat head keeping low to the ground before snapping out at Manji]
no subject
no subject
You do realise it's just wanted your food! We could have run and let it trash your stuff and it would have left?!
[And Tim is without a weapon to properly use too. He grabs one of the longer pieces of wood from the fire, one side a burning ember.
The creature just rushes at Manji, teeth snapping at him but it seems more interested in just running him down. Perhaps to crush him or perhaps as an intimidation tactic]
no subject
Manji tries to run wide and get behind the creature. The creature tries to snap at him again and once more Manji easily jumps out of the way of it's teeth, but he ends up getting lashed by it's tail.
With a grunt Manji goes flying back and slams into a tree with a sickening thud. A large cut across his chest from the creature's sharp tail.] Thing hits pretty hard. [Manji grins wildly. Feeling a rush of real combat coming back to him.]
no subject
The creature doesn't seem to see Tim as a threat and turns again to continue lumbering towards Manji, which Tim is going to use to his advantage. He rushes up to the creature's side leaping to use its knee to get up to his back. Then he peels up one of the scales and jams the red hot stick into the sensitive skin underneath just it reaches Manji]
no subject
A thin cut appears where Manji cuts but it's mostly superficial. Not yet fully cutting through the scales as it starts to do a barrel roll in order to get Tim off his back.] Get out of there, Robin! [Manji shouts out a warning regardless if Tim needs it or not.]
no subject
I'm not leaving unless you're coming with me, you idiot!
[Unfortunately Tim is still close enough for that tail and the creature stops rolling and it's tail whips out towards him]
