[He blinked.]
...you...summoned a dragon spirit?
no subject
From the dragon we had just killed, in order to fell the second dragon, yes.
no subject
You...used a dragon spirit to fight...another dragon?

[He pauses, thoughtful.]
Honestly, they probably don't, either. People get scared when they don't understand, and it makes them do stupid things, and say even more stupid things.

[He chuckles.]
Well, I can dissect 'Maleficar' enough to figure out it means something bad, and from where I'm standing, the only crime you're guilty of is a lack of observation.

[ Maker, it's nice that he's not been spit at or cursed for his mere presence in the fleet. ]

[A lot of what Dorian was commenting on was lost on him, of course, but he could get the gist of it, and he'd ask for clarification in a moment.]
It sounds like you did, though, and that's admirable, and I understand something about racial prejudice, too, and the pitfalls of pride when people can't fall back on it.
no subject
At the very least, I'm not completely in the spotlight and seen as a second-class citizen.

[He smiles at his own joke. It's...a bit macabre, but when you come from a world that's basically ended, that's actually a cause for celebration.]
...sorry. [And he shakes his head.] I think I've interrupted your training long enough. I think I'll head back to the lodge, see if I can catch wind of any stories that don't involve ghosts, just to be on the safe side.
[A beat.] Un...less you want to join me? I haven't tried the local beer yet and...that's kind of a thing I do in a new place.

[ This man reminds him an awful lot of Bull and raises an eyebrow at the invitation. He's not one to turn down a drink by any means, but for some reason, it's hard for him to decipher if Aaron is flirting or being genuine. Dorian laughs, tucking his staff away. ]
It's probably for the best that I stop for now, lest someone else walk into my work.
no subject
[Bad jokes are how he adjusts to situations. Aaron's just making himself comfortable with the idea of magic, and necromancy in particular.]
Okay, so...I had an ulterior motive. I'm horrible at keeping secrets, so I should just be upfront about it.
no subject
[ Well, Aaron is reminding him more and more of his Inquisitor. His upfront honesty and the apparent inability to keep secrets are rather endearing. ]
Is that so?
no subject
[He nods, though.]
Yeah. Are you, uh...did you hear about the incident on one of the waystations a few months ago? Involving the undead?
