Ah- hello to members of the Drift Fleet, old and new. I'm Simon, the medical officer on the Bloodsport. It seems that my sister River has been going around and making lots of friends since she arrived here- I would like to speak to and get to know all of you in turn if you wish. I will be here on the Bloodsport and making housecalls elsewhere as needed.

[Perhaps he's treating you on your ship. Maybe you visit him on the Bloodsport or run into him at the waystation the Fleet is currently docked in while he scrounges for food and medicine. No matter what, Simon wants to know the people his sister is bonding with. Why not say hello?]

I would not be surprised if it was borrowed, honestly- perhaps Atroma wanted to bring a piece of home along with some of its abductees.

I really hope they don't start borrowing parts of Gotham. That couldn't end well for anyone.

What can I say? I try to err on the side of politeness- my girlfriend gives me a lot of grief for it. [He then looks curious.] Oh?

Iiit's kind of a hellhole full of crime and supervillains. It's home, but not really a fun vacation spot or anything.

... no, that doesn't sound very pleasant. I doubt our benefactors want to put us in that much danger, thankfully... but then again, I am not sure I have been here long enough to judge.

[ She raises an eyebrow. ]

I don't know. Not sure I buy their story about those raiders that hit us...

[And that perked up Simon's interest.]

I did not hear the official story- what was it?

That some fans of the show just wanted to be on air so badly they got some ships, came out to find us, and attacked us. I don't know, it just doesn't... feel right. For a few reasons.

[Simon's jaw dropped at that, but he quickly shut it.]

Are people really so reckless?! ... Then again, you're right- who knows if that is even the whole truth? I do not think I would put it past our hosts to engineer an attack as a ratings stunt of some sort. Give the audience some extra drama, but not really put us in danger of death.

Yeah. That's kind of how I feel about it too. And maybe it wasn't that bad this time, but... what if next time they decide the cast is big enough that some of us are expendable?

It certainly does make a morbid sort of sense- they want ratings, want to make the audience happy so they become consumers, and people who are underperforming are a liability. [He smiled crookedly.] And here I was thinking living here wasn't very dangerous.

[ Her lips quirk into a tiny, crooked smile. ] Sorry. Maybe I'm wrong. Living in Gotham makes you paranoid, y'know?

No need to apologize- I think some paranoia is warranted when you're suddenly taken from your home, no matter what that home may have been like. Atroma has given me no reason to trust them so far.
