Hey there, fleeter friends, let me pick your brain for a few minutes, get those creative juices flowing.

If you could have any kind of magical weapon, armor, or a fancy artifact- what would it be, and what could it do? The theoretical sky is the limit, here, this is just a fun thought experiment.

Lup can be found easily enough in person as needed, either in her room or in the kitchen on the Heron, or messing around in the smithy onboard the Iskaulit. It's project time.]

I always want to ask for a bag of holding but I don't think I could take that home with me so I don't think there'd be much point.

Have you ever heard of the story of the Monkey King and his staff?

Oh man, don't get me started on those bags. So useful.

I've never actually encountered one. This is all fiction in my world.

And Monkey's story is... rather long and but he had a legendary staff that could extend shrink and grow at the users will and also duplicate itself. I know it doesn't sound that useful really but my primary weapon is a staff so it always appealed to me.

That and he rode around on a flying cloud.

Oh! That's handy. And an object that can shrink or grow is no big deal, actually. Totally doable.

Can't help you with the flying cloud, though. Or- well, I could, sort of, but both would be a big ask.

I don't really know how these things are priced. Magic exists in my world but isn't common knowledge for most people and I've certainly never met anyone who can make magical items.

I've been making a staff in the forge with the metal we found on the last planet? Would that work? oh, what about throwing stars that could.. return?

Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself again. I guess I should work out what I can afford?

You can just say I'm one of a kind, I get it.

[Her tone is teasing- and it would be even if the statement wasn't provably untrue, considering she has an identical twin in this very fleet.]

Having the base material would help, and can cut down on the cost- it's easier to enchant a non-magical item that already exists than to start from scratch. And the metal on the last planet was charged with some serious arcane potential, so it takes to this sort of shit real nice.

[Cue the swift scrape and click of chalk on board as she takes notes.]

There's still spell component requirements, plus the labour cost of the enchantment... hmm. Well, it's only a 2nd level spell. It shouldn't be too expensive, but I can get back to you once I've worked out the details.

Oh! And you'll have to give me your staff while it's being enchanted. Probably for a week, maybe two.

You say you're one of the kind but well I'll be honest. You look like you could be one of a matching pair? No offence?

What spell components would you need? I could look for them when we're planetside?

I can probably get what I need from the smithy, but it's better to source out new materials on planets in case we need the stored stuff later. The spell requires iron, so if you can find a blacksmith or a mine or something, bring back as much as you can.

Well, you're identical so I'm not really sure how that works? And if you're talking the way you both dressed, I withhold any comment. Taako has already proved he has strong opinions on the way people dress. I think commenting on his fashion is just asking for trouble.

And I'm sure I can acquire some iron quickly enough.
