Why not?

So as soon as Loki's done with his drink they exit the bar, heading into the street and arguing about which bar looks like the next best option. Too gaudy, not gaudy enough, full of ornamental butterflies, a dress code that requires a tie... if nothing else, Kenn-Tellnic has plenty of variety. After a while they finally hit upon a spot they both agree on: aesthetically classy and not so densely populated, with a much better range of options. The view isn't so good here, but a few drinks in that ceases to be much of a problem.
Thor pokes Loki in the shoulder across the table, setting his glass down.]
How's your ship doing? Are you doing anything for it while we're here?
[Loki always seems to have some project on the go for the First Breath and it's of interest to Thor, both as a frequent visitor and a captain in his own right.]

Not much. I'll make sure our inventory is up to date, see that everyone has what they need.

[No need to hunt their own meat or collect from out in the wilds. There are stores for every conceivable thing here.]
And it is not so difficult to provision for five, compared to when it was double that many.

[ it fills the time and reminds him a little of his brief foray as king. he doesn't miss being the all-father though. ]

He makes an agreeing noise, fetching up his glass again.]
You've grown into it, I think.
no subject
Have I? I doubt I've changed all that much.
no subject
[Not exactly a noble intention.]
no subject
And yet, I'm still a better captain than the Fleet combined.
no subject
Except me. I'm a good captain.

takes a sip of his drink. ]

I mean it, though. I've seen what you've done for your ship.

They were mostly aesthetic changes.

[Just take the damn compliment, Loki.]

Thank you.

[Thor believes that, genuinely. It's been nice to see Loki commit himself to something like this, ephemeral though it might end up being. That's the same of everything in this place though - built on uncertain foundations. Swirling the liquid in his glass, Thor stares into it with the past on his mind.]
The Blue Fish has changed so much in the time I've been here. When I stop to think about it, it seems so stark.

It must be hard. To watch it change so.

[He pauses. Where he would normally stop, he decides to keep going, itching at the layers of silence that have fallen over him so often.]
And yet I still find myself wanting to speak with them sometimes - Sokka and Riona. Before I remember again that they aren't here anymore.

[ they never last, after all. ]
You could try the Iskaulit. I made a wall there to . . . relive one's memories of a person.
[ loki almost mentions that he goes there at times. to remember clark and castiel, but he stops himself. ]

[Because there's too much risk, if it does. If it shows people he thinks of inadvertently he could end up thinking of others he's seen die, who still live in the Fleet and have no idea. He could see Frigga or Odin, or Heimdall. When he considers it the list expands far and fast.]
no subject
Only the people you choose. It cannot pull anything from your head if you do not desire it.
no subject
[Maybe not this week, but the next time he's on the Iskaulit for certain.]

[It's similar to the wall Loki had created inside the First Breath, just different in concept. There was a pattern there. Allowing recreations of things lost.]

That's what illusions are good for.
