Thanks. You know, you may be the single most cheerful person I've met since I got here?

'Tis an unfortunate situation we have been placed in, so I certainly cannot fault most for being less than pleased about it. [ she, however, won't let it weigh her down too much. ] But I do not see why I would be displeased making the acquaintance of a new crewmate.
[ with that said, the elf then bows her head, wisps of long white hair falling over her shoulder with the motion. ] I am Lioriley, and you are...?

Jason Todd. Pleased to meet you.
...So, what do you do around here?

Me, personally? I have taken on the role as the resident healer upon this ship - both by my natural abilities, and the augment that was given to me upon arrival.

Apparently I'm supposed to be the cook, but if you ever need someone else to play field medic in an emergency, I'm pretty good at keeping people from bleeding out. No magic, which I'm guessing is your thing, but I've got plenty of experience in cleaning, bandaging, and stitching wounds.

It is good you have extensive knowledge outside of your assigned augment, though. And come to think of it, I do not know if any one else here has bothered trying to cook much of anything...

Right, here's a tip: if you want to get along with us primitives from places where 99% of us couldn't do magic if we tried? Maybe try using words like "less efficient" or "more invasive", or, I don't know, anything but what you used. ...Barbaric's out, too, in case that was on the list. [ His tone's deceptively mild: he's trying to be helpful, and not just come across as profoundly irritated... though his irritation is, indeed, profound. ]
Unless your magic is really just sufficiently advanced technology, odds are you won the genetic lottery when it comes to the ability to manipulate unseen forces. We didn't. So the end result comes across as a little like a sparrow calling a dog's mode of transportation primitive because dogs don't fly. Gets you a whole lot of growling and nothing constructive.

Forgive me, I misspoke. I would never assume you, nor anyone - human or otherwise - to be primitive or barbaric. I will be sure to use a less offensive word the next time. [ if there's a next time. all she manages to do is annoy everyone on this ship - it's really a terrible habit she's forming! ] All I meant was that I am not as practiced in the art. Though that is hardly an excuse for being so rude.

[ Because someone like him should've been groveling on his knees in gratitude that someone like Bruce Wayne would take him in, so he didn't end up in an inevitable life of crime and/or addiction. You know how those poor people are. Bruce is so generous, letting an unfortunate like that into his home... And while he never got that kind of attitude from Bruce of Alfred, he encountered it plenty at Bruce's society functions, when the rich and powerful thought he couldn't hear them. Years later, it still rankles. ]
Don't worry too much about it, just don't repeat the mistake, and we're cool.
Besides, I kind of envy you the ability to fix things. If we had that ability back home... well, I probably wouldn't have half as many scars, for one.
no subject
his next comment, however, has her looking back up to him again; expression softening. ]
I was told once before that a warrior should embrace his scars, for they are signs of survival and fortitude in times of hardship - that they are the gifts given to the strong to remind them of their victories - and sacrifices.

[ For all that his tone's wry, there's a hint of gratitude in his expression when he looks over at Lioriley. She's at least trying to make him feel better, and that's pretty rare in his life. ]
