Tay crosses her arms over her chest and scowls a little. ]

Boston. I don't text a lot, though, I got better things to do.

[ She mostly doesn't text a lot because she can't really read very well. That's true for a lot of the kids like her - the unplanned ones, the ones born outside of the cycles the family has set up, the ones who don't get the benefit of the structured learning everyone else gets. Sure, most of them don't get a lot of book learning, either, but there are more people around to teach, there's more structure to make what they are taught more efficient.

Tay didn't get that, and sometimes? It shows. ]

[Woah now, where'd the chill go? Alex raises her eyebrows and her hands.]

Hey, hey - I totally didn't mean anything by it, okay? I've just known a lot of people from a lot of different worlds.

[She can tell that she's touched something sensitive, and even though she's not quite sure what it is, she does not want to go there.]

[Whew. Alex may spend most of her time actively trying to piss strangers off, but this is a different situation. This is close quarters, in space. She doesn't want enemies.]

A couple times. I actually lived in New York City, my whole life.

[ Tay seems to ponder that for a second, then shakes her head with a frown. ]

[ She doesn't say it judgmentally, for what it's worth, but to her, it sounds rih-rih ridiculous. ]

[ But she cracks a little half-grin, so she's clearly not taking it too seriously.

[Alex turns back to her jumpsuit, and makes another attempt. The words of the spell still aren't quite audible, and this time the fabric just turns mustard yellow for a couple of moments, before snapping back into the usual tan.]
