002. ☾ First contact { Action }

[ After sifting through the changes made to the ship with the disappearance of some of the crew, as well as making sure their newest addition settled in all right, Cecil is a little late making it out to explore the planet they've landed on. That said, she's not sure how it is that she managed to attract such a crowd of natives, much less how they managed to keep her busy with being led around their quaint, dusty home all day. One thing just led to another and she's been sight-seeing and answering an awful lot of questions about herself.

It's now nighttime, she's unwittingly tried enough lighter fluid-flavored liquor to render her a little drunk, and it seems her small following is leading her inside the brothel next. It's unclear whether or not she realizes where they're going, but she's also got a handful of those red stones and she's in a pretty good mood, so she's content to be led along.

Honestly, it's been a trying past couple weeks and she needed this chance to unwind, really. Maybe not quite this much, but beggars can't be choosers. ]

[ She has no idea what he's talking about.

Okay, no, she actually does, but she wants him to clarify aloud for her in hopes of him realizing just how inappropriate a question that was. ]

[wilder]

[Yeah, luckily, he does]

Ha...uh, nevermind.

[proteusmoon]

[ That's a good boy. She laughs a little, low and shortly, showing there's no hard feelings about that from her. ]

How about you? How have you been? I feel like I haven't really seen you in a bit.

[wilder]

[He meanwhile pulls away to make himself a cup of tea]

Me? I've been alright. Can't say I've been getting into anything as interesting as you though. [There's a slight smirk, very much indicating a "if you know what I mean" left unsaid]

[proteusmoon]

[ It's a good thing he's turned away, because she flushes a little at that. ]

I find that a little hard to believe. Unless you simply dislike the natives to this world.

[wilder]

[A shrug]

I got nothing against 'em. No more than I got against anyone anyways. [Because you know, he dislikes people as a default] Crappy food and weird customs aside, they've been real nice.

Still, haven't done a whole lot of partying. Just looking for work, supplies and shaking off some guy from another ship who wouldn't leave me alone.

[proteusmoon]

[ Whoa, back up there. One part of that really caught her interest. ]

Someone from another ship won't leave you alone?

[ If he hadn't said "guy", her first thought would have been Hange, though as to why she'd be so interested in Kaneis, Cecil has few ideas. ]

[wilder]

[oh. he's already had the pleasure of meeting Hange. And learning more about titans than his psyche ever wanted to know. BUT- he finds her alright, weirdly enough]

Yeah. Some blond guy that's always smiling? Kinda creepy?

[proteusmoon]

I don't think I've met him yet. Or heard anything from him either. He doesn't exactly sound like a person I'd forget...

[ She's equal parts curious and concerned, truth he told, and her brow furrows lightly. ]

Does he seem... non-hostile, at least?

[wilder]

[He shrugs] He didn't try anything at least. Just followed me around creepily and told me about how he was raised by a wolf.

Eventually he wandered off when he realized I meant it when I told him I was just looking for work.

[proteusmoon]

Raised by a wolf?

[ She just can't stop sounding bewildered by everything apparently. ]

[wilder]

Yeah. Said his parents didn't like him, so he got raised by a wolf outside of town.

Pretty awkward topic for a first time conversation, I gotta say.

[proteusmoon]

Yes... I can imagine...

[ Raised by a wolf because his parents didn't like him. Interesting. She's wondering how much of that is truth and how much is just what he tells himself. ]

I'm glad he left you alone eventually.

[wilder]

Yeah, me too. Here's hoping he finds someone else next time he wants some company.

[Since seriously, he's the worst choice for that]

[proteusmoon]

[ But he made her breakfast... which she's very appreciative of and is almost completely done eating. ]

I do too.

[ She chuckles a little to herself. ]

If that's not too selfish of me to say.

[wilder]

Who knows. I'm a terrible judge of selfishness.

[a half shrug]

Anyway, that's the most interesting thing that happened with me. Did some menial jobs to get cash for more supplies- not that they have a lot of good stuff on this dust-ball.

[proteusmoon]

Ah, I did a few as well... after helping our new crew-mate adjust, that is.

[wilder]

You mean Makoto?

[He tilts his head a little curiously]

What do you make of her?

[proteusmoon]

I used to know a different version of her. This one...

[ She sighs and shakes her head a little. ]

...knows some other me.

[wilder]

[!]

Wait, seriously?

You mean, like you're from different timelines?

[proteusmoon]

Almost, but not quite.

[ Because that would be way too easy. ]

Before I being brought here to the fleet, I'd been to a similar place where the multiverses converged. It was called Court. Our minds were tampered with, our memories even altered, our freedom compromised... and while I was there, I met a girl named Makoto Matou. We were not from the same universe. I think our crew-mate is a different version of her. At least in name and appearance, they are exactly the same.

And this one apparently comes from a world where I exist as someone with the title of "Saber".

[wilder]

Court, huh? [A slight frown crosses his face as he listens] ...Hadn't heard about that one, but I've heard of other places like it to get the idea. [Paradisa, Siren's Pull- it was worrying how many places seem to pull these sorts of things.]

But Saber huh? Sounds like a warrior of some kind.

[proteusmoon]

I haven't spoken with her at length about this Saber, but she seems entirely convinced I am she. The warrior aspect would not be surprising if Saber and I are in fact somehow alternate duplicates of the same soul.

[ She rubs her temples with one hand, feeling agitated just considering the possibility of another version of herself being a native to Makoto's world. She thinks she understands now how so many other people she's known felt about their counterparts— Kaneis included. ]

Given my background, I'd be more shocked if Saber was an average teenaged girl like Makoto.

[wilder]

Wait- she still thinks you're the other one? [He wrinkles his nose] Ergh, that's gotta be annoying.

[He knows he hates it. When people keep being convinced his memory is just acting funny instead of the idea he could be a different person.]

Ha...yeah, you don't seem the type. [a beat] No offense, of course.

[proteusmoon]

[ Cecil ducks her head a little bit in embarrassment, sheepish suddenly. ]

Ah... well, I haven't yet corrected her on the matter...

[ That sounds crazy, doesn't it. Probably. She feels crazy saying it aloud. ]
