Captain Whizbang reporting

Who: Carol Danvers
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Marsiva
When: Friday afternoon (04/24)

[ Carol's muttering as she turns on the feed, clearly talking to herself rather than anyone listening. ] -can't even get one month back on Earth before I have to deal with this shit again. I swear to god if that insane little raccoon shows up...

[ She clears her throat and straightens her shoulders, taking on a military bearing. The uniform she's wearing is a little too colorful to be military, but never mind that. ] Hello... Fleet? Captain Marvel of the Avengers here, and I did not sign up for a trip to space today, but here we all are. Don't know if any of you will know what the Avengers are, but apparently we've got some name recognition out here since the Builders War, so who knows? You can call me Carol.

Does someone want to fill me in on how long this has been going on? What planets everyone's from? Do we know anything about who took us? Annnd while we're at it... If someone could describe the ship I'm on right now, that'd be great. Can't tell anything from the inside except that it's big, and I can't find the doors or teleports or whatever they're using to get around in here.

Action: Marsiva
Carol's pacing the deck like a caged animal, eyeing the walls with a thoughtful expression that would make anyone who knows her nervous. She could blow out the big viewing window in the main room, but not without asphyxiating all her fellow captives - not really a viable plan.

But the interior walls can't be as sturdy as the hull, and assuming the rest of the ship is pressurized and has the same breathable atmosphere...

Okay, that might be assuming a lot. She steps up to the wall opposite the window and raps her knuckles hard against it, listening to the noise it makes. That noise tells her exactly nothing, because she flies spaceships, she doesn't know anything about their construction.

Carol sighs, glancing mournfully toward the ceiling. "I miss Harrison..." Sure, sometimes he tried to speak Flerken cat at her, but at least she understood that ship. Her ship.

[Well, this one's all sorts of take-charge, isn't she? Full of questions and go. And with yet another ranking title, which makes her wonder a little about just what sort of cast this show is angling for. She's pretty sure, at least, that this one's talking about a different set of Avengers from her own. Have a faintly amused voice that might sound just a tiny bit familiar sounding from your comm.]

Well, you're just full of questions, aren't you? That thing in your head not giving you any answers you like?

[The tiniest bit of approval in that voice. Finally, someone acting at least a little rational with this.]

Seems smart enough. Anyone you meet is more likely to confirm it than to contradict it, but that's no reason to not mistrust the information you get.

You're probably right, though. Unless of course having a contestant sucked out into space while trying to make repairs is the kind of thing that brings in ratings.
tothefly: (well I suppose)

In my experience, preemptive paranoia is never a bad idea. Especially as far as the media is concerned. But no, as far as I know, it'd be a first. I haven't seen anything to suggest them killing off an asset for fun is a regular thing.

But hey, you could always be the trend-setter, Captain.

[A brief pause after that last bit, an audible pause in breathing, is followed by what almost sounds like a smile, if smiles had sounds.]

You can't really blame me, can you?

[This is the second one who's recognized her. Or thought they did, since they weren't people she knew in any life she's led thus far. It's a little unnerving to think she's led a similar life in any number of other worlds. But admitting ignorance at a time like this...she's not willing to admit to that sort of vulnerability. Not yet. So she'll play along.]

[She's not used to anyone sounding like that when they talk to her, not these days, anyway. She hasn't exactly been making many friends. Briefly, she wonders about that other Natasha, and just what she's done to earn a warm welcome like that.]

Sorry. Old habits, you know.

I've only been here a week or so. Couldn't let you keep having all the fun out here, leaving me at home with the boys.
tothefly: (yeah I know)

[personal profile] tothefly 2015-04-28 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Seems like the other versions of her have similar speaking voices and habits, if the not-Steve and this Captain are any indication. Probably at least a passing similarity in background. And there's the name Tony, so that's something, too.]

I think I'll pass. We could always send him out next. Think his ego might be crushed by finding out the world would, in fact, keep on turning without Tony Stark.

You find anything interesting out here?
tothefly: (too tall)

Very humanitarian of you. Or whatever the alien equivalent is. Guess humanitarian doesn't necessarily apply in this case. Anyone coming our way we have to worry about? Aside from your cat, I mean.

[Is that a joke? It could be.]

We'll throw a party in your honor. I'm sure the boys have been looking for an excuse for a while now.

I'm a little surprised there aren't more bodies out there gunning for us. We've been making big noises for a while now, it's about time someone starts knocking.
