Captain Whizbang reporting
Who: Carol Danvers
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Marsiva
When: Friday afternoon (04/24)
[ Carol's muttering as she turns on the feed, clearly talking to herself rather than anyone listening. ] -can't even get one month back on Earth before I have to deal with this shit again. I swear to god if that insane little raccoon shows up...
[ She clears her throat and straightens her shoulders, taking on a military bearing. The uniform she's wearing is a little too colorful to be military, but never mind that. ] Hello... Fleet? Captain Marvel of the Avengers here, and I did not sign up for a trip to space today, but here we all are. Don't know if any of you will know what the Avengers are, but apparently we've got some name recognition out here since the Builders War, so who knows? You can call me Carol.
Does someone want to fill me in on how long this has been going on? What planets everyone's from? Do we know anything about who took us? Annnd while we're at it... If someone could describe the ship I'm on right now, that'd be great. Can't tell anything from the inside except that it's big, and I can't find the doors or teleports or whatever they're using to get around in here.
Action: Marsiva
Carol's pacing the deck like a caged animal, eyeing the walls with a thoughtful expression that would make anyone who knows her nervous. She could blow out the big viewing window in the main room, but not without asphyxiating all her fellow captives - not really a viable plan.
But the interior walls can't be as sturdy as the hull, and assuming the rest of the ship is pressurized and has the same breathable atmosphere...
Okay, that might be assuming a lot. She steps up to the wall opposite the window and raps her knuckles hard against it, listening to the noise it makes. That noise tells her exactly nothing, because she flies spaceships, she doesn't know anything about their construction.
Carol sighs, glancing mournfully toward the ceiling. "I miss Harrison..." Sure, sometimes he tried to speakFlerken cat at her, but at least she understood that ship. Her ship.

action
The familiar voice comes from a doorway behind here, where a certain spider-themed
teenager20-year-old is standing, leaning against the doorjam and looking... Well, honestly, she's trying to look like she's totally unbothered by this turn of events, but she's freaked out. She's also not really expecting all that much from Carol, though, so she's trying to keep it on the downlow.
"You know, I said space was cool and all, and I was kind of jealous when you left? But this is so not how I wanted to see it."
no subject
Missed you, spiderbaby. More than Carol ever would have guessed when she left for space.
"Harrison's my ship. Tony built an AI, so I... kind of got used to the ship talking back to me." She sighs. "And trust me, I was looking forward to having solid ground and atmosphere for a while. I'm not happy either."
no subject
Anya's still hovering back in the doorway, trying to figure out what level of familiar she can really pull with Carol. She'd been nice and understanding and all (and more than a little patronizing, but still nice) when Anya came looking for help with her teacher during the terrigen crisis, even though she didn't remember Anya at all, but that had been just a few minutes, really. And Anya doesn't realize that her year being intentionally in space had done wonders for Carol's brain.
She really kind of wishes it were Jess or Natasha or even Tony here, instead. At least then she could probably steal a reassuring hug out of one of them.
"You named your ship Harrison? What, did it sound like a stuffy British dude or something?"
no subject
"Harrison Ford. If I was going to spend a year in space talking to an AI with a terrible sense of humor..." Then she is going to be a total fucking nerd about it. Obviously.
no subject
She would kill for a hug, but not a stranger-hug. She wants a mom-hug, and she doesn't think that she can get that from Carol anymore.
"Wow, you are such a nerd." Anya laughs a little, shaking her head. Nothing about how she's acting is "holding a grudge" or "angry with", and Carol's been privy to plenty of that. Maybe she'll put it together?
no subject
She eyes Anya for a moment, studying her face. Teasing is good. Anya doesn't tease when she's angry. She folds her arms over her chest and leans her shoulder against the wall next to the door Anya's been hovering in.
"I've been meaning to ask you to come to lunch with me or something, since I got back. I missed you out there. I missed everyone. Things just kept... coming up." She gives a sheepish little shrug. Like they do, when you're an Avenger. She still feels bad. "So... you being kidnapped with me might be the universe's way of telling me I waited a little too long on that. Unless you've been messing with aliens while I was gone?"
no subject
Anya tracks Carol's movement until they're leaning right by each other. She frowns a little as Carol speaks, and tilts her head a little. "What do you mean back? When did you get back?"
no subject
That's not true. If Anya really wanted on the team, Carol would immediately strong-arm Steve or Tony or whoever into making it happen. But it's a hell of a headache sometimes.
no subject
She doesn't want to be an Avenger, Mom, gosh. She's not a Team Person. Except for when she is and except for how she totally wants to.

Well, you're just full of questions, aren't you? That thing in your head not giving you any answers you like?
no subject
Nothing I can use. And I'm still not sure I should trust it if it does.
Unless I need to fix a ventilation system on one of the ships or something. That's probably reliable information.
no subject
Seems smart enough. Anyone you meet is more likely to confirm it than to contradict it, but that's no reason to not mistrust the information you get.
You're probably right, though. Unless of course having a contestant sucked out into space while trying to make repairs is the kind of thing that brings in ratings.
no subject
Have they pulled anything like that before, or are we just being preemptively paranoid?
no subject
But hey, you could always be the trend-setter, Captain.

[ And that last comment, the particular inflections, solidify just who that voice reminds her of. She tilts her head again, eyes narrowing. ]
Natasha? If you've just been waiting for me to figure out that it's you...
no subject
You can't really blame me, can you?
[This is the second one who's recognized her. Or thought they did, since they weren't people she knew in any life she's led thus far. It's a little unnerving to think she's led a similar life in any number of other worlds. But admitting ignorance at a time like this...she's not willing to admit to that sort of vulnerability. Not yet. So she'll play along.]
no subject
[ Her tone's friendly, though, almost fond. She's not close to Natasha, but she likes her, understands her to an extent... and she's apparently been looking after Carol's kid while she was away. That counts for a lot. ]
How long have you been here?

As for who, they're callin' themselves Atroma. And why, they're watchin' us and gettin' a kick outta it. Dunno how long they been doin' it, been close to two months for me. Ship you're on's called the Marsiva. You'll get placed on a smaller one soon.
[ She frowns slightly. ] Atroma... Usually people who kidnap me have some kind of grudge or something, but that's not a name I know.
It's a lot of trouble to go to for a reality show. They've got to have some serious tech if they can knock me out without me noticing. [ And put things in her head... Just the thought of that makes her skin crawl, considering the last time something like that happened, so she's just... trying not to think about it. Maybe her healing factor will take care of the augment before it gets to be a problem. ]

So far they ain't tipped their mitt. Dunno what their goals are, if this's just some sorta laugh for 'em, or if we got a different purpose. More likely t'think the latter. Like you said, s'a hell of an investment in a buncha saps figurin' out space ships. Don't sit right.
So where are you from? I'm getting the feeling most people here aren't from places I know...
