It wasn't hard, of course, and most people had been more than polite with regards to him, and that was more than enough for him. He was learning how to be a friend to a new Inquisitor and was taking care of Cole - what more could he ask for?
He softens when hears his name, tilting his head. ]
Yes, I am. And you are...?

[ Her voice is shaky as she greets him. She no longer bats an eyelid whenever she sees elves on the fleet. When it comes to meeting new people however, she's a very timid child.
She attempts to keep up a small smile. An awkward, but friendly smile. If he's a friend of Cole and Jove's, she shouldn't be afraid. And it was her idea to board the ship after all. ]
Cole talks about you sometimes.
no subject
[ And he means it; he is kind and gentle with her, his speech low and soft. He isn't there to be cruel, after all.
He shifts, making a little bit of space for her to join him if he would like to. ]
Does he? I'm glad to hear it. Is there anything I should know?
no subject
He told me that you've been teaching him how to paint and that you're very good at it. And that you painted big murals at Skyhold.
[ That's almost exactly word for word what he told her. Cole tells her a lot of things and she soaks up the words like a sponge, even if she doesn't understand some of it. ]
no subject
That is quite true. They spanned the walls of my rotunda, decorated with stories of our Inquisitor.
[ Which is not really giving away just how much work it was, but he had enjoyed himself. ]
no subject
Do you mean Jove? [ She pauses a moment to quickly recall the other name Cole mentioned. ] Or Cadash?
no subject
[ Though he is a little surprised that Jove had been so free with her title - but with Arhen gone... ]
He is no longer here, but I believe I am getting to know Jove in his place.
no subject
...How many Inquisitors are there? [ She says the title slowly, trying not to stumble when saying it. ]
no subject
I am uncertain. There seems to be immeasurable numbers, spread over worlds that we cannot begin to imagine.
no subject
Umm... what are you working on now?
no subject
[ The figure is drawn dark, with charcoal and no paints, and Solas offers a small, sad smile. His friend is gone, in a way, and he still feels the burn of the anger that came with the loss. ]
no subject
Can you tell me more about your friend?
no subject
It was a Spirit of Wisdom, a friend that would greet me in my dreams and engage in discussion of the world with me.
[ He shakes his head; the spirit was turned, damaged, hurt, transformed into a demon, and he has still not forgiven the mages despite their deaths. ]
no subject
When she notices the expression on his face, she suddenly feels guilty for asking. She just assumes he's like others on the fleet with friends that far apart, back on their home worlds. Like Teepo. ]
I-I'm sorry... you must miss your friend very much.
no subject
I do. But I have made friends here that make me miss home a little less than I might otherwise.
no subject
I feel the same way!
no subject
Even if we might loathe being here, at least at first, we should account for the great friends and allies we have made here. That is a chance we would not have had otherwise.
no subject
[ She likes learning and making friends, even though breaking the shyness barrier is still a work in progress for her. Because of Milla's mission and her choice to accompany her, there wasn't much of a chance for her to settle down. Being treated like an outsider in one of her previous villages didn't do her any good either. ]
no subject
Most of this comes from a desire to learn more about the ships, the people on them, the passengers and everything that he hasn't yet had a chance to see. Solas has, after all, always appreciated people that ask questions and show an interest. ]
no subject
Uh... Cole tells me a lot about his- your world. I don't want to bore you.
[ Most likely a bunch of things he already knows about. Cullen and Jove tell her plenty of stories too. But, Cole most of all. She learns more about the worlds of those on the fleet than about the ships and space. ]
no subject
[ And, sometimes, he is quite rash and hard with them in return, dismissing their thoughts or, at other times, directing them when they are nothing short of wrong. He thinks, however, that he might be kinder with her - she is, after all, nothing more than a child and is hardly aware of the troubles in Thedas. ]
no subject
...I learned about spirits! They're different from the ones in my world.
[ Who are more like spirits of elements. Time for her to break out her amazing skill of parroting exactly what others tell her. She won't know the proper definition of some of the words, if asked. ]
Spirits are of emotions and virtues. Demons are spirits too, the same thing. But that's just what the ignorant call hostile spirits.
[ She speaks slowly, sounding rehearsed and almost exactly word for word. ]
no subject
I have learned that spirits in Thedas are different from many in other worlds.
[ But look how he practically beams. Her understanding of spirits and demons is more simplistic than he might be able to offer, but the fact that she knows of the ignorance... ]
Quite right. Spirits embody emotions and demons are not dissimilar from that. Negative emotion is often more obvious than their kinder cousins.
no subject
[ Admittedly, she's still learning about the spirits of her world, but that much she knows at least.
Her smile brightens up even more, pleased to know that she correctly repeated what she learned from Cole. But that's about all she knows when it comes to hostile spirits or demons. What she says next is more of an inference, nothing she heard from anyone.
If there's Compassion, Wisdom, and other virtues, then the negative emotions would be... ]
Then hostile spirits would be something like... spirits of sadness? Or anger?
[ Elize is careful not to use the word demon. She doesn't want to be one of those ignorant people! ]
