[It's the pink glow that gets Stefan - although he's been punched around more times than a guy should be, he hasn't once shown any sign of injury. Sure, he had a large gash across his cheek, but in the span of time since Shirley's last seen him, it's... not really here.

He manages a small smile at her as he continues to administer treatment.] I could deal with a little less chaos, but yeah. I couldn't imagine not helping them either.

[She takes a long, deep breath and lets it out again.]

It's good, knowing that all of that wasn't for nothing. I hated not being able to do anything for the Nunnilis.

[He'd arrived on the Fleet in the middle of the madness and mayhem, so he wasn't able to offer them as much support as he would've wished. That, and vampire blood as a healing device was a bit gruesome.] You holding up okay so far?

Kind of. The last time I did something like this, everyone was human, so... [He'd hold out his hand, but his regeneration factor's been helping him out big-time. Instead, he gestures back towards their patients.]

Not as much punching or kicking when you helped them out. I can't blame the guys, but it still hurts.

Yes, it does.

[Not that Shirley's been on the receiving end of much of it, since she's been erring on the side of caution so she doesn't need to spend a Cure on herself, but when you battle alongside a fist-fighter...yeah, that stuff hurts.]

Stefan inwardly groans at himself.] Nevermind. [More seriously, he gives her a smile as he gestures towards his hands (and their conspicuous lack of injuries).]

See? Nothing I can't handle.

[The joke goes over Shirley's head, obviously, but the lack of injury is pretty hard to miss.]

I thought you said they hurt you?

They did. I just heal fast. [He shrugs, grimacing a little at his callousness. Shirley's not exactly normal - not if she can cast spells - but he hadn't meant to slip up so easily.]

On one hand, we can devote more medicine to them. On the other... I get punched more.

Does it still hurt, even after it's healed? I don't imagine it's fun either way, but...

[Probably not, but it would be really unpleasant for Stefan if so.]

Not really. It only hurts if it's something major. [No one's thought to ask him before, and it shows.

He shoots her a grateful smile.] Don't worry about wasting your... magic? I can live with this.

Please let me know if it ever becomes a problem. It wouldn't be a waste if we could save you pain like the Nunnilis are suffering now.

[Headtilt. So it wasn't actually magic? Stefan would ask about it now, but it doesn't seem like the proper time or place.]

Sure thing. It shouldn't get to that point, but I'll let you know. [He hopes.] But in return, you should let me know when you need a longer break.

[He turns his head at the sound of his name - it may be a little hard for Shirley to hear, but his super-hearing can't mistake it for anything else.] I think they're calling me back. [beat] You know what? Take a longer break now. It'll be on me.

[Shirley hasn't heard a thing, but her hearing isn't quite the same. She's not sure if he's really being called away or if he's being nice to her, but either way it would be rude to decline right now.]

[Even if they weren't calling him, Stefan would've insisted, all the same. Shirley's been out there for a while - and like Stefan said, he heals fast. He can hang in there a little longer.]
