Beam me up

[The weekly Shuffle doesn't happen quite as it should. No new passengers appear on the ships, and no message is sent in from the hosts. The usual day comes and goes without a stir.

And then, on the second day, another one of those surges of static comes in over the speakers, breaking apart for a voice in the background. It's Diamond, and she sounds too far away from the receiver. She also doesn't sound quite like herself-- her tone flat and cold. Disappointed.]

--I know. I can't. [A pause of empty air, before a short, decisive sigh.] ...Yes. Bring them in.

[A blip of lost time passes right after those words, before every passenger mysteriously wakes alone in their own unfamiliar room. They have never seen this room before, but those familiar with the Hospitality Deck of the Marsiva might recognize the style of decor. It sounds and smells the same as the host ship as well--clean and chrome--but this set of rooms have never been ventured into before.

Welcome back to the Marsiva, dear passengers.]

ooc info:
Happy belated birthday, Drift Fleet! This is the first official mingle for the Season Finale event. As always, this is very backtag friendly-- including the Hosts section below. Take a look at the event information, then jump in and enjoy!

Anything, huh?

[Stefan might be grumbling here, in-between pages of the Qur'an translation Allen had so kindly found for him. Honestly, he's so used to Atroma never listening to him that he's talking to what he thinks is empty air...]

Like, maybe, some of the books here? I'd sure like to keep this one whenever "calibrations" are all done.

[WELL. That's a first. He sits up a little straighter, staring back at Diamond as if she'll disappear at any moment.]

Really?

[Time to get a little bolder, Salvatore:] Then... I'd like to keep some of the religious scriptures you have here. The Qur'an, the Bible, the Tanakh, Guru Granth Sahib, the Vedas, the Kalpa Sutras, and this book of hadith.

I'm willing to negotiate.

[He lets out a laugh, an actual genuine one as he sets his book aside. Sure, he has a lot of Words and a whole lot of frustration at his situation - but it wouldn't do him any good to show it. Not when he's a sitting duck in the palm of Atroma's hands.]

The Qur'an and the Catholic Bible, then? At the very least. [There's a small, hesitant pause--] And tea leaves, with a future kitchen upgrade. If we can have coffee grounds, it wouldn't hurt to have black and green tea too.

[Not even remotely the right religion, and he's holding back a white people grimace (nevermind that he's white too)--]

Hard to check a library that I didn't know about.

[Still, a gift's a gift (albeit one he had to ask for), so even if he's groaning on the inside, he manages to say, with as much sincerity as he can afford,] Thank you.
