[sleeping Pearl kinda looks dead. If anything, it's probably because she's not moving at all. Or breathing, for that matter. And when she regains consciousness, it's all at once. No gradual waking up for her.

In fact, as soon as her eyes pop open, she's scrambling out of the bed, getting tangled in the bedsheets, and falling onto the floor right onto her face with a loud thud.

A hissing intake of breath, and then Pearl is turning around and staring in surprise at...the bed.]

Sleeping? But that's not...I've never -

[and then she finally sees the giant windows and more importantly, the fact that she's in space. Oh and also that she's probably been kidnapped or something like that.

..............]

GARNET! AMETHYST!!!

[and she's tearing off the bedsheets and scrambling to her feet. Don't hyperventilate. Stay calm. Don't freak out. This doesn't look like Gem based technology. Then again, she barely knows what modern Gem technology looks like. But, but it could also be some completely unknown alien species who had somehow kidnapped her and taken her hostage and of which she knows absolutely nothing about!!

[Of course, the one jump he wakes up late is the one his friends come. Of course it is. By the time he wakes up that Saturday, there are dozens of messages pinging him, telling him to look on the network-- and god, he doesn't think his joy could be any greater. His heart leaps in his chest, and he fumbles with the buttons, so excited he can barely take it.]

PEARL!

[God, but he's missed her.]

You're here! Did people tell you about this place? Are you okay? I've missed you! I can't come see you til next week but it's okay, this isn't Jasper's ship or anything--

[But oh, explanations are so tedious, and soon he very simply shouts:]

Pearl's here!

Steven!! [and you are treated to a close up of Pearl's face, as if she thinks that shoving her face right up to the camera would get her marginally closer to where you are]

Are you alright? You haven't been hurt, have you? And what's this I hear about a casino??

I'm okay! I've been fine, everyone's really nice here!

[He edges closer as well. He's desperate to go see her, to throw himself into her arms-- but it's impossible, and so he settles for just staring fondly at her.]

And the casino . . . it's like Funland! I even won a stuffed animal that looks like Lion!

I suppose that matches up with what I heard about it... [including the thing about the stuffed animals, even if she can't shake off the feeling that a casino something inherently Bad.

There is another thing that's been nagging her.] Steven, how long have you been here?

About . . . three months now.

[Has it truly been that long since he's seen her? It seems both too short and too long a time-- but yes, that's about right. Three months. Steven's eyes well up, because three months, and he can't even go over to hug her yet.]

...But that's impossible! You weren't gone for three months! Even if we were to take into account the primitive concept of traveling at relativistic speeds, we would have definitely known!!

[and then] Have you been alone for all that time? Are you alright? Where are you?

I'm okay! I'm okay, everyone here is really nice-- a bunch of people kinda take care of me. I'm on the First Breath. You should meet some of them-- Fenris and Jim and the Commander and Dr Crusher and a ton of people.

[But that other part . . . Steven tips his head uncertainly.]

Some people say that time kinda freezes at home? Nobody notices you're gone while you're gone, I think.

[whaaaat. That makes no sense! Not even with the multiverse theory she sussed out with Fenris! Unless they're actually from different universes and this isn't her Steven, per se.

Steven, what's the last thing you remember from home?

Malachite.

[He rubs at his face, grimacing as he remembers.]

Lapis dragging them both into the ocean. And then we went back to the house, and you told me to go to sleep, and-- and then I woke up here.

[who knew this could get even more complicated?]

That wasn't too long ago, but.

[it looks like she really wants to give you a hug, despite the possibility of weird multiverse things. Malachite was pretty bad.] Oh, Steven.

[realhumanbeing]

I'm okay now! How . . . how long has it been back home? Did you notice me missing?

[stickupherforehead]

It's been a while. We've cleaned up the beach, found Peridot's pod, and last I remember, we were going after the monster in Amethyst's room. [not that it means much to you.]

We didn't notice you were missing at all!!

[.......wait. That's a faint flush on her cheeks.] I meant, you were right there with us when we were doing all those things.

[realhumanbeing]

There was a monster in Amethyst's room? I-- but if I was there, then--

[He frowns.]

Maybe . . . maybe I got returned and don't remember. And then you got taken? Or . . . something.

[stickupherforehead]

[she has a couple of theories, but...]

Either way, we're here now and we'll do our best to get home. [it's a little easier to channel Garnet when there's nobody else more responsible around.]
