broadcast 01
Who: Natasha Romanoff and various guests
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Post-broadcast, abandoned waystation? Action prompt in comments
When: During bugfest 20XX
[On screen, there's a very calm redhead looking thoughtfully at the camera, one brow slightly cocked.]
It's occurred to me that the fleet has about ten times as many firearms as it does medical professionals. It's also been pretty apparent that a lot of our cast members don't know the basics of gun safety and use. If anyone wants to learn, I'll be at the following coordinates.
[The message ends with a bit of text, the location of one of the abandoned waystations in near orbit.]

I really think you'd want to start by avoiding the shots. Trying to block a projectile is a good way to end up dead, or at least really bruised. You can do it, if you know what you're doing, but it's not exactly recommended procedure.

Energy weapons are standard where I'm from. Do yours have a stun setting? [as long as Natasha's bringing up caution, Vima might as well remember that one.]

Or your sense of caution. Seems a lot of people around here don't really have that.
There's no stun setting. The safety's got three settings: locked, standard power, and extra power. The latter is considerably stronger, but overheats your weapon and takes you out of the fight for a pretty long time.

Still, I bet I could learn how to dodge with the kind of blaster you've got here--it'd just be extra incentive to move quick.

I'd personally try and avoid training with live fire. These aren't what you're used to at home, regardless of similarities. Unless you're feeling a need to acquaint yourself with the fleet's state-of-the-art medical facilities, up close and personal, anyway.

You got anything less dramatic, then?

You could get someone to throw rocks at you until you get the hang of it. Not like there's a lack of ammunition around here.
[Dry sarcasm, breakfast of champions.]
You do that a lot at home, dodging weapons fire?

[Her eyebrows arch, but it's not a look of disbelief. Just that kind of cool, slightly disinterested look that is the hallmark of a Natasha fishing for more information.]

[Of course, her own hadn't been any nicer. Learning to dodge gunfire was important, and live rounds did provide a nice incentive to get out of the way.]

[never mind the time a Master dropped his students onto some world and said "solve this multigenerational ethnic conflict which I won't say is being fueled by a Sith ghost". and then got mad when they couldn't do it.]

I'm not going to fire live rounds at you, but if you want to learn to use the weapons Atroma's provided, feel free to stop by.
