Okay, guys. Hear me out. This is going to sound like a weird suggestion, but... has anyone thought we've been almost too gloomy lately? Our mourning is all well and good. A lot of shit happened. But if you ask me, we're missing a pretty key component to the whole cycle. Where's the party? The wake. The remembrance that we're alive and we have our own lives to continue now enriched by the lives we touched while they were here.

You know. That kind of sappy stuff.

[ There's a pause, a quiet "um". ]

If anyone else agrees, I was thinking of setting something up in say—a week or so? Would anyone else be up for that?

[ No this clearly has nothing to do with the fact that her birthday is on the 11th. Mere coincidence! ]

Always. Why wouldn't you? Or—uh, I guess the actual question is what kind, isn't it. What would you want to do?

I would like to do whatever I am needed to do. Perhaps I might be able to do some cooking. Meal preparation was never a full duty of mine, but I oversaw much of Dr Fastolfe's estate, and later Lady Gladia's.

We've got another offer for that if you saw. If we get even two ships' worth of people, we'll probably need more than one cook. That can't be your only talent, though.

Many of my duties involved personal assistance, or overseeing the other robots of the estate. Perhaps some of that may be transferable.

What do you envision for this party?

Something nice, nothing wild, but music and getting together. Maybe some lowkey games. Food, obviously. [ She laughs, quietly. ] I've never really planned a party myself before.

Nor have I. Do we have access to some form of music?

Having the music isn't the problem. I mean, it kind of is, I just don't have something to project it anywhere. [ She pauses. ] Which means, yes, I have music. Access is another thing entirely.

Then you need some variety of playback device. What form is the music in now?

[interspace]

FLAC. Is that even a format you'd recognize? I mean, put simply, it's digital. Lossless compression.

It isn't a familiar format, though digital music is known to me. Is it not compatible with the computers we have here?

Not sure. When I got here, my device got a bit of a downgrade so his wireless transfer capabilities are pretty much out, and I don't have any cables that would do it.

I see. This does present some sort of trouble. We may have to look for another source, though I understand music is often considered necessary.

[He considers this for a moment.]

Is it possible that we may have, among us, some musicians who might be willing to perform?

Now that you mention it, I do actually know of someone who showed up with a guitar.

[ That person happens to share a face with Misha, but details. ]

If we could find a keyboard somewhere, I know how to play piano, too.
