Okay, guys. Hear me out. This is going to sound like a weird suggestion, but... has anyone thought we've been almost too gloomy lately? Our mourning is all well and good. A lot of shit happened. But if you ask me, we're missing a pretty key component to the whole cycle. Where's the party? The wake. The remembrance that we're alive and we have our own lives to continue now enriched by the lives we touched while they were here.

You know. That kind of sappy stuff.

[ There's a pause, a quiet "um". ]

If anyone else agrees, I was thinking of setting something up in say—a week or so? Would anyone else be up for that?

[ No this clearly has nothing to do with the fact that her birthday is on the 11th. Mere coincidence! ]

I really didn't want to be the first one to say it.

[Eugene's fully aware of how new he is here, and even beyond that, he's not going to go around telling people how to handle things. But after the last several years, whatever in him might have taken more than a moment in all of this to mourn is well and truly buried. Every road he's walked since the outbreak has been scattered with the vast and awful tragedies of strangers. If they stopped to mourn, even to feel, for most of them-? Well. They'd never have made it very far themselves.]

I think . . . I think when you're uprooted, that's the step that's hardest. Without the life that you're used to going back to, it's easy to lose sight of the point where you need to close that chapter up and get back to your life. Whatever that life looks like now.

Someone has to be the one to rip the band-aid off. [ There's an almost verbal shrug with that. ]

After a while, you kind of can't do without, either. If you don't get a chance to unwind after all the tension, even if you get back on track, it just never goes away.

Fair enough. I unfortunately haven't gotten around to figuring out a homebrew setup just yet, so I'm not going to be much help with drinks. But I can probably figure out . . . something vaguely snack-like?

Um... If we're doing a party... I could help a bit? My job back home was singing and that kind of thing, so I can handle the music, if nothing else has been arranged.

[ That's okay. Misha is using voice because she has some heavy and uncomfortable scarring on her face; she doesn't blame anyone who would want to contact her the same way. ]

That would be fantastic. I've got some music on my, well, phone thing... but if you got to keep some of your own, maybe we could put something together.

If I were going to be cheeky and sarcastic with you, I'd say a party is appropriate to every situation. But, no, it's a fair question. Personally, I'd say it's part of the human condition to need levity in our lives even in the dark situations, you know?

As disrespectful as it might be, we can't stay bogged down by everything all the time forever.

Hell yeah. [He has been super bummed out. Respectfully so, of course, but bummed out is bummed out. He could use a good party, get himself out of the ship.]

[ It's funny, because Misha doesn't outright feel guilty about killing them. If they were so eroded and gone, it's like fighting puppets. Was there really any chance of saving most of them? Were they even the same things anymore? Who knows. They were something once upon a time, and that's what she thinks about. ]

Oh! Fenris! Shit, I've been meaning to contact you. Yeah, fine, no party for you. But, you wanted to compare and contrast, right?

[She said the P-word, and lo, he was summoned. He's not really got himself involved in the bug mess, he arrived too late to understand most of it, and he's not exactly the sort of get his hooves dirty when it comes to heroics anyway. But a celebration. That, he can do.]

[ There's... a pause and a long breath while Misha takes this in. She won't waste time with the obvious, and she knows this kind of thing must have existed somewhere to be brought here. She just needs a moment to adjust. Okay. ]

Right. You know what, that's great. What kind of parties do you do?

[Oooh, a party. It's just the right thing to get their spirits back up, and besides, they'd still have a week until it happens anyway.]

Sign me up! I would say I could help provide music, but all my tunes are back on Earth. [Shame, too. He's got so much music on his laptop.]

Don't worry about the tunes. I've got some, even if we'll have to figure out some kind of audio converter. Conveniently left my usb cable in my home dimension.

Nothing specific. I figured we'd have some... I don't know, community thought and figure out the best way from there. We're all from somewhere different, right?
