Okay, guys. Hear me out. This is going to sound like a weird suggestion, but... has anyone thought we've been almost too gloomy lately? Our mourning is all well and good. A lot of shit happened. But if you ask me, we're missing a pretty key component to the whole cycle. Where's the party? The wake. The remembrance that we're alive and we have our own lives to continue now enriched by the lives we touched while they were here.

You know. That kind of sappy stuff.

[ There's a pause, a quiet "um". ]

If anyone else agrees, I was thinking of setting something up in say—a week or so? Would anyone else be up for that?

[ No this clearly has nothing to do with the fact that her birthday is on the 11th. Mere coincidence! ]

I really didn't want to be the first one to say it.

[Eugene's fully aware of how new he is here, and even beyond that, he's not going to go around telling people how to handle things. But after the last several years, whatever in him might have taken more than a moment in all of this to mourn is well and truly buried. Every road he's walked since the outbreak has been scattered with the vast and awful tragedies of strangers. If they stopped to mourn, even to feel, for most of them-? Well. They'd never have made it very far themselves.]

I think . . . I think when you're uprooted, that's the step that's hardest. Without the life that you're used to going back to, it's easy to lose sight of the point where you need to close that chapter up and get back to your life. Whatever that life looks like now.

Um... If we're doing a party... I could help a bit? My job back home was singing and that kind of thing, so I can handle the music, if nothing else has been arranged.

Someone has to be the one to rip the band-aid off. [ There's an almost verbal shrug with that. ]

After a while, you kind of can't do without, either. If you don't get a chance to unwind after all the tension, even if you get back on track, it just never goes away.

[ That's okay. Misha is using voice because she has some heavy and uncomfortable scarring on her face; she doesn't blame anyone who would want to contact her the same way. ]

That would be fantastic. I've got some music on my, well, phone thing... but if you got to keep some of your own, maybe we could put something together.

If I were going to be cheeky and sarcastic with you, I'd say a party is appropriate to every situation. But, no, it's a fair question. Personally, I'd say it's part of the human condition to need levity in our lives even in the dark situations, you know?

As disrespectful as it might be, we can't stay bogged down by everything all the time forever.

Fair enough. I unfortunately haven't gotten around to figuring out a homebrew setup just yet, so I'm not going to be much help with drinks. But I can probably figure out . . . something vaguely snack-like?

Your point is fair. In the wake of death, it is important to stress how many are alive.

Just knowing the situation, I'm sure there's booze aplenty floating around if you care to look. Snacks, on the other hand, are a fine art. If you can manage anything close to that, welcome aboard the party boat. Er. Ship.

Exactly. And I'm new-ish here, so I figure I might as well take the hit to my non-existent rep to suggest it because everyone else is too—quiet, sad, settled, scared, whatever—to think of it.

Yeah... I mean, it's just—we didn't even know that much. But who else is there to pay respects? I don't know, this whole thing is really weird, but we still gotta be human about it.

[He should feel more guilty for killing as many of them as he has, but he really doesn't. ]
