Okay, guys. Hear me out. This is going to sound like a weird suggestion, but... has anyone thought we've been almost too gloomy lately? Our mourning is all well and good. A lot of shit happened. But if you ask me, we're missing a pretty key component to the whole cycle. Where's the party? The wake. The remembrance that we're alive and we have our own lives to continue now enriched by the lives we touched while they were here.

You know. That kind of sappy stuff.

[ There's a pause, a quiet "um". ]

If anyone else agrees, I was thinking of setting something up in say—a week or so? Would anyone else be up for that?

[ No this clearly has nothing to do with the fact that her birthday is on the 11th. Mere coincidence! ]

[Oooh, a party. It's just the right thing to get their spirits back up, and besides, they'd still have a week until it happens anyway.]

Sign me up! I would say I could help provide music, but all my tunes are back on Earth. [Shame, too. He's got so much music on his laptop.]

Don't worry about the tunes. I've got some, even if we'll have to figure out some kind of audio converter. Conveniently left my usb cable in my home dimension.

Yeah, same here. If I'd known I was going to space so soon, I would've packed so many other things, you know?

[interspace]

I think that's part of the point. No time to prepare, more time to flail around and make a spectacle of yourself. Did you have anything brought with you at all?

[geonomy]

I was doing my job, so not much. My visor, my space suit, the clothes I had under it... and that's about it. Maybe if it got me while my regular outfit was on...

[interspace]

I mean, a space suit could be useful here... [ But she doesn't sound convinced. ] Tough break, Clay.

[geonomy]

Right? And unless someone can fix the suit, it's not that useful. There's, uh... kind of a hole in it.

[interspace]

A... hole? Um, like, while you were doing your job, there was... a hole in your space suit.

[geonomy]

I kind of... It happened during it. I don't remember how it happened, but... [He sounds uncomfortable as he says it; his chest aches as he says it, like his body remembers how it happened even though his own memory of it is too fuzzy.]

[interspace]

Oh. Uh. Do you wanna change the subject?

[ That doesn't sound good at all, and Misha is more than willing to let the guy have his space over that. ]

[geonomy]

Uh, sure? It's just kind of weird. [And he'd rather not think about it, what with the scar on his chest that wasn't there before. Buuut.] But yeah, if someone fixed it, I could probably go outside of the ship even if it's not in a waystation or anything. So that'd be pretty useful?

[interspace]

Something tells me it's not a standard patch-job if you're fixing a space suit. Don't all the ships come with them, though?

[geonomy]

Well, but... It's my baby. [Along with his jacket that's sadly at home. And his visor, which is thankfully here and on his head like always.]

[ That's... so cute... Clay, how are you cute? ]

Yeah, I guess I can understand that. ALFRED's kind of the same for me.

[geonomy]

Alfred? Who - or what - is that?

[interspace]

Um, it's complicated. ALFRED is... a friend who doesn't really exist. [ She gives a light, somewhat forced laugh. ] I'll show you next time we meet up.

[geonomy]

Oh... um, okay? [She sounds about as comfortable with that as he was talking about the hole in his suit.] I mean, you don't have to show me if it makes you uncomfortable, but...

[interspace]

No, it's not that. ALFRED is just hard to explain, really, without showing at the same time.

[geonomy]

[Huh. He can imagine, if said friend doesn't really exist, as she said. He's not even sure what that means, but - he's sure he'll figure it out next time he sees her.]

Then I can't wait to see him! Any friend of yours has got to be pretty awesome!

[ She laughs, brief but genuine this time. ]

ALFRED is completely awesome. Just not everyone's cup of tea.
