Okay, guys. Hear me out. This is going to sound like a weird suggestion, but... has anyone thought we've been almost too gloomy lately? Our mourning is all well and good. A lot of shit happened. But if you ask me, we're missing a pretty key component to the whole cycle. Where's the party? The wake. The remembrance that we're alive and we have our own lives to continue now enriched by the lives we touched while they were here.

You know. That kind of sappy stuff.

[ There's a pause, a quiet "um". ]

If anyone else agrees, I was thinking of setting something up in say—a week or so? Would anyone else be up for that?

[ No this clearly has nothing to do with the fact that her birthday is on the 11th. Mere coincidence! ]

[ She's resilient like that. Or maybe too jaded to be affected so much anymore. Or maybe she's just hiding it all. Who knows? ]

Starstruck, huh? Well, if nothing else we can bring our two ships' supplies together and see what happens.

[Wanda's grin turns a little mischievous as she responds.]

I think my ship mates would notice if their pillows suddenly disappeared.

Well, we don't have to keep them for too long. Nor do they need to know where the pillows went, really.

Do we have enough space though? I do not know about your ship, but the Starstruck is not exactly spacious.

[interspace]

Hell no, not in the bedroom. But we do have a cargo bay that can fit shuttles. Surely it can fit some pillows.

[While it was certainly tempting to indulge in the childish activity of pillow-fort making once again, Wanda was feeling a little more aware of the escapist nature of the activity. It was something to take their minds off of the serious nature of the events that had unfolded upon that alien ship. Perhaps a little too jarringly, Wanda changes the subject. The grin fading noticeably from her face, as it dissolves into a more forlorn expression.]

What did you have in mind for this wake?

[interspace]

[ Perhaps Misha is expecting a bit too much elasticity. She's always been an escapist at heart, but it means she knows when to come back, too, or at least how to juggle. ]

I'm not sure. Something where we can all come together... make sure we're all still in one peace. Realize we're not alone? Insert more existential stuff here? Just, not be entirely downer about it. They had lives, too, and I bet they were pretty great. We should value it.

[Wanda nods her head, a little too solemnly. Though the grin has returned a little to her face. It was nice to hear that Misha seemed to share her desire to do something to honor the aliens. Though it was likely not out of the same sense of guilt that Wanda felt. She knew the creatures had become rabid, incurable. Yet, that did little to take away the sting of knowing that she had killed creatures that once been peaceful, intelligent beings.]

I think that sounds like a good idea. Have many others offered to attend?

Not exactly, but it isn't exactly an RSVP here. Just feelers. There's time, and I don't think it would be a waste even if just the people who responded here showed up.

There was a... boy. A fleet member, who visited the ship. He built a shrine to the fallen aliens. Said a pray for them as well.

[Wanda's not sure why she feels compelled to tell Misha this, but the words fall from her mouth nonetheless. The memory bringing a few tears to Wanda's eyes as well, but she does not let them fall. She shakes her head, trying to clear away the somber feelings.]

[interspace]

[ There's a pause, then a slight shakiness to the next breath over the feed. Bit ragged, unsure. ]

I'm not saying we shouldn't do that, either. There's no one right way to deal with all this, but... if we don't keep going on, then they may as well have taken us with them, you know?

[Wanda catches the shakiness in Misha's breathing. She realizes that perhaps building the pillow fort was not just for her, but that it was for Misha as well. The thought brings a sympathetic smile to her face.]

One of the Starstruck's crew is currently using a shuttle. If we hurry, we may be able to put together some kind of fort before he gets back.

[interspace]

[ Misha is curious enough to question the change, but smart enough not to at the same time. She merely smiles to herself. ]

I'll bring Golden's stuff right over. Right?

[Wanda nods, the warm smile having returned to her face.]

I'll gather whatever pillows and cushions I can find on the Starstruck. Meet me in the cargo bay in about five minutes?

[interspace]

You gotta give me time to grab everything and fly over, sheesh! Gimme twenty. Bet your boy won't be back by then.

[notmutantbutmiracle]

You had better hope not. I do not know how I will explain things to him if he does return.

[interspace]

Maybe he would want to join in?

[ There's sounds of movement as Misha is getting up and getting ready. She can totally still answer the comm and talk and things while she gets her materials. ]
