Okay, guys. Hear me out. This is going to sound like a weird suggestion, but... has anyone thought we've been almost too gloomy lately? Our mourning is all well and good. A lot of shit happened. But if you ask me, we're missing a pretty key component to the whole cycle. Where's the party? The wake. The remembrance that we're alive and we have our own lives to continue now enriched by the lives we touched while they were here.

You know. That kind of sappy stuff.

[ There's a pause, a quiet "um". ]

If anyone else agrees, I was thinking of setting something up in say—a week or so? Would anyone else be up for that?

[ No this clearly has nothing to do with the fact that her birthday is on the 11th. Mere coincidence! ]

[ She raises a hand in greeting, giving a small but genuine smile rather than try for anything over the top. Now that she's here in person, it's easy to see why she was using voice on the network: that scarring on her face is kind of intense now that she's out of stuff to cover it up. ]

So, uh, here good? I mean, or—does this place have other rooms?

[wolfuncaged]

[He doesn't seem bothered by her scarring, then again, he's not one to talk, the lyrium brand covering all of his skin in the thin, vine-like tendrils. He gives a small wave in return, not smiling back, but that's honestly nothing new. ]

We would likely have more room in the cargo bay.

[interspace]

Okay, we'll stay right here then.

[ She kind of... fidgets. Shuffles her arms out and tilts her head side to side as if loosening up. ]

Who first? Or, like, how did you want to do this?

[wolfuncaged]

[He fidgets too, he really didn't think that far ahead. ]

I...honestly had not considered. I have never had to deal with this before.

Well, okay. I'll start. Watch this.

[ She raises a finger as a wait motion, steps aside the shuttle. After a quick exhale, she turns and walks right through the smaller ship's outer hull right into the cockpit. Nothing visibly changed about her... and yet the results are hard to deny. ]

[He watches her with fascination. Huh. ]

...I have never been able to do that.

[ She comes back out a moment later. ]

No? Why not? How does yours work?

[wolfuncaged]

I am honeslty not sure. My former master had no interest in explaining to his slave how his newfound powers would work. I use mine in combat, which is how I was taught to use it. If I have any other ptoential, I have been left unaware of it.

Well, good thing I'm here! Phasing is a terrible thing to waste — not that it sounds like you've been letting it go to waste — but you can just do so much with it.

I've thought about my abilities as a curse for so long, it never occured to me to use them for much else.

[ Her head tilts, not letting his words fall on deaf ears. It just... doesn't seem her place to make any kinds of actual comments on it. What does she know about slavery or brutal battles? ]

Well... if you're willing, I'd love to show you how else they can be applied.

It is usually...rather bloody. [Ripping hearts out, yay.]

However, I am able to do this.

[The lyrium markings flare into life, a blue glow with soon takes over his whole form. He becomes almost ethereal. ]

On a battlefield, I become much harder to track and capture like this.

Yeah, you mentioned something about bloody.

[ Misha pauses, watching Fenris as he turns into some kind of ghostly being thanks to those tattoos. She lets out a sharp, long breath at seeing it. ]

Okay. So you kind of cover your physical form. That's actually a lot like what I do. What have you tried going through before? Aside from other people.

There was a collar we were made to wear on a planet we visited here in the Fleet. I was able to pass through that to remove it.

[He shifts back to solid, the tattoos still glowing lightly. He winces a little, he can't keep t up for too long. ]

[interspace]

A collar?

[ She doesn't even question why someone would want to escape that. Especially someone like Fenris after everything he's said so far. ]

Hey, wait, does it hurt you to do that?

[wolfuncaged]

It was used to make us look to appear human, so we would not frighten the people trapped in the fantasy life that was created for them.

[He says it with a sneer. He hated Mor, so much.

At her question he heaves a sigh. ]

The lyrium that makes them is a dangerous mineral. It kills most who remain in such close contact with it for a long time. I do not know why I have not succumbed, but the pain lingers regardless.

Now that sounds like a story. And not a pleasant one, either.

[ She leans back against the hull of the shuttle she just played her phasing act on. Not exactly comfortable, but showing that she isn't going to be really affected by the story. Something solid. ]

Well, there's a lot of reasons something embedded in you could be less overly harmful than people that are exposed from the outside, but... Guess it isn't too likely that the pain would fade with proper mastery?

[wolfuncaged]

No. It's not a pleasant one.

[And that's all she gets, so far. She needs to be at 40+ approval to get this crappy story. ]

I sincerely doubt it. Lyrium poisoning is a lingering, wasting thing. It would likely only speed up the effects.

[He's painfully aware that one day it'll likely kill him, and he's made his peace with that, for the most part. ]

[ Yeah, she isn't going to push. It takes time to rank up social levels and all that. ]

That makes me curious, though... Mind if I try something? Maybe—I don't know, I guess I'd just like to see if it would work. I have a friend back home who has something kind of similar to mind but not quite, but I can take him places with me. I can't do that with anyone else.

[wolfuncaged]

[He hesitates for a moment, and it is a true sense of being torn, it's written all over his face. Fenris isn't prone to trusting anyone, letting anyone in even a crack. ]

...What does this entail? What do I need to do?

[interspace]

[ Misha sees it, doesn't make any movement just yet except to shrug. What she says next is just said, not with weight but not taken for granted either. It's a step. ]

Let me touch you, try to extend my power to you.

[wolfuncaged]

[He takes even longer over this, his brow furrowing. ]

I- Is there a way to do it without? I... I do not like being touched.

[For more than one reason. ]

[ She bites her bottom lip momentarily, considering. ]

Well, I mean—I might be able to get close enough to count without actually touching you. Just to see. But it could even just be your hand or something. Whatever's comfortable.

[wolfuncaged]

I-

[It's always hard to explain, how much being touched terrifies him. It involves going into far too much of his past that he's willing to share. For the time being, anyway. ]

That would be preferable, if you could do...that.

[interspace]

[ Misha sees it, doesn't comment, doesn't really try to extrapolate. Just files it away and puts it together and lets it stay there. This isn't really something to muse on.

She walks forward, stopping on front of him and raising her right hand to hover over his right arm and gets close. Very close, enough to maybe brush the hairs on his arms but there's no skin on skin contact. Holding her hand that still and close isn't hard when she starts to channel her power, an invisible weave of thread creating a simple glove to hold her steady. Then the weave spreads out, gentle wisps latching on with no physical sensation. Her head tilts, she bites her lip again, tries reaching further with the power to wrap around Fenris' wrist and very lightly lift it up. ]

It's okay, that's just me. I can't... feel it, I observe it more than anything. Do you feel that little push?

[ She doesn't want to make him do anything against his will. She just can't tell if it's working or not unless she does something. ]
