[It's been nearly a week since the fleet's said their goodbyes to the planet full of skull face folks, and another Shuffle has come and gone. Despite what was mentioned on the last week's Shuffle about cannibalism, it doesn't seem like any crews has resorted to that, so maybe some of you have begun to relax.]

[Or maybe not. In fact, maybe you should do a crew headcount just in case1.]

[By now, some of you who handled any red stones from the planet natives may be feeling under the weather or even downright shitty. But hey! What's that to stop you from visiting the way-stations? These way-stations may be in the same crappy condition as the last way-stations - but at least they're people on these ones! Really...shady looking people! But that's not about to stop you from making friends right2?]

[Essentially, this is a game wide mingle post for this week's shuffle, November's way-stations anyone getting ill, or anything else you want to do but too lazy to make a post about! Please feel free to tag in and tag around! Just make sure to put your characters' location and communication methods (action/network) in the header and/or in the prompts!]

[ooooh, something interesting!

this little altercation is definitely snagging Tek's attention as he heads back to his ship, slowing his steps to a stop. he really can't miss out on this. despite feeling gross and sick, he changes his mind on the way, and wanders in their direction instead.

he's a little too pretty and proper to seem like the brawling type, but he's just walking right up to them all anyway.]

Well, hey... what's going on here?

[limitstorm]

None of your business. Move along.

[ riku stares at him when he approaches--he's obviously not from around here. is he one of the fleet...?

no, even if he is, he doesn't want to drag him into this. ]

He's right. Don't get involved.

[heresyandlace]

Oh, but this looks like fun.

[walks right up into the midst of it, like they're all just getting ready to play a game]

Is this guy the underdog, then? [thumbing to poor Riku] I like underdogs.

[limitstorm]

[ he blinks at tek as he strides up to them, both confused and incredulous. ]

Are you...

[ serious? is what he's about to say before the captain gets near, glowering down at him. ]

You'll be next if you keep this up.

[he grins at the captain with a mouth full of teeth that are suddenly sharp and inhuman. his whole face changes along with it--wicked and monstrous, letting his eyes glow bright, his face twisting into a hideous sneer.

he has fun with it, really.]

I'd love a turn.

[limitstorm]

[ riku's face goes from confused to shock, and then intrigue--while the captain rears back. ]

What are you?! Men, grab him!

Wh-- [ one lets go of him, the one still holding on wrestling his arms behind him as riku yelps. shit, his broken wrist--he grits his teeth as one starts towards tek.

they can't be in their right minds. riku's pretty sure he wouldn't mess with someone who just made that display. ] Get out of here!

[Tek feels like hell. he's crabby and hungry and constantly burning at a low grade of anger... so he's eager to grab the guy coming at him. normally brawling is too barbaric for him, when he'd rather just step quickly in with a weapon and not mess up his nice clothes, but sometimes breaking someone's face is simply the only cure for a bad mood.

swooping in as the guy meets him, he grabs onto whichever wrist is closest, and then lunges in to slam the heel of his free palm into that shoulder. he's far stronger than he looks. he'd really love to break something in the guy's shoulder, but he'll settle for smashing it out of the socket if he doesn't quite make it.

he's sick and a little out of practice, after all.]

[limitstorm]

[ welp.

oh, okay. um.

riku stares rather blankly at the scavenger shrieks--obviously not expecting that--and moves to grab his throat with his good hand. if he could get a hand free, he might be able to help... he doesn't look well off, if riku were completely honest.

at least, until-- ]

Break my arm, will you?! Who do you think you're dealing with?

[ WAIT HE BROKE HIS ARM

okay nevermind, tek is a badass and riku is kind of unsure. ]

[if the scavenger is going to grab his throat, Tek is going to just... let him. he can take a little bit of strangling without a problem, and it brings the guy nice and close. he's got a perfect shot like this, especially with the guy lacking a second functional arm to defend himself with.

so, he spits in the guy's face.

which again probably doesn't look like much at first.

...until a second later when the acid he spit starts to burn and corrode, however. that's going to sting.]

[limitstorm]

[ it's at that moment that the man just lets go and claws at his face, causing a murmur between his crewmates. the man holding riku stays firm but looks miffed and disgusted while the captain and the other scavenger start to give tek a wide berth. ]

Get 'em to the medbay. This doesn't concern all of you. [ the captain commands as he eyes tek, the injured man and his associate huddling together to escape to their ship. the man holding riku goes to follow.

what's riku doing? truth be told, he's giving tek a wide-eyed stare, looking equal parts horrified and intrigued. spitting acid? that's... pretty cool, and pretty terrifying. as he's nudged to start walking, he struggles to, digging his heels in. ]

[Tek's pretty pleased with himself, but he did come over and interrupt for a reason. and it would be pretty silly to let that reason just walk away now.]

Oh, sorry... I wasn't clear before, was I?

I'm keeping him too.

[still looking just a little bit monstrous, he heads right toward the guy still holding onto Riku. looking like he just intends on waltzing right up and taking him away from his captor. like he doesn't expect them to try and stop him.]

[limitstorm]

[ riku's eyes widen, and he looks around before looking back at tek. wait, what? what does he want with him? when he steps closer, the scavenger lets go of riku very fast, hands up as if to brace himself any more acid spit or anything else tek might throw at him. ]

Take him then. Stay away from my crew.

[ ... awkwardly, riku shuffles backwards, eying the crew as they start to retreat--slowly. to make sure tek isn't going to rip their heads off while they're making an exit stage right. ]

[and once Riku is safely away from the thugs, Tek contents himself with simply leering a smile in their direction as they retreat. he might have even given them a little wave if he'd been feeling better. and if he'd been in a good mood, he would have jolted in their direction with a 'boo!' to watch them jump.

he feels like shit though, so he just waits until they're definitely gone.

and then he turns his smile--now perfectly pretty and human again--towards the guy he just kind of saved.]

...Well! That was fun.

[limitstorm]

That's... sure one word for it.

[ ow ow ow his arms tho.

he grimaces and shrugs a shoulder. ]

Are you... [ okay? uh, human? what can he even say? ]

--Tek. [by way of introduction, as if that was at all what the guy was about to ask.

and then he squints at him a little, trying to recall if this person should ring as familiar or not.]

Are you part of the Fleet, then?

[limitstorm]

[ riku makes a surprised sound, before returning the favor. ]

Riku.

Y--yeah, I am. [ leaning a bit away. he's seen what tek can do, and he's a little nervous. even if he's intrigued, too. ] Thanks. For... helping me.

[and Tek quietly revels in that little bit of unease. he gets his petty kicks where he can, okay.]

Oh, well. I couldn't just stand idly by while someone gets manhandled like that, could I?

[yeah he totally could, actually. and usually does.]

[limitstorm]

[ he raises a brow. ]

You're that much of a good Samaritan, huh?

Oh yes, my heart overflows with goodwill.

[it's... hard to keep a straight face through it, really]

So what's the real reason you stopped those guys?

Because I'm in a bad mood.

[with a pleasant smile]

...And I do like underdogs. I meant that part.

[limitstorm]

[ oh. he wasn't being facetious. that makes it slightly less confusing and a little more humbling. ]

So I guess I can trust you to not spit acid when you're in a good mood?

[ ... wait. it clicks-- ] Are you sick, too?

At you, probably not. Unless you're secretly incredibly annoying.

[and... then, yeah, his smile weakens and he looks closer to just crabby and tired]

...And that does seem to be going around, doesn't it?

[ he frowns... ]
