I'm quite surprised there is peace between the races of people here.

[She would assume that humans wouldn't be willing to befriend bugs, sentient or not. But it seems people can still surprise her.]

Hmm. Even in other worlds, there is often a divide between the races. Especially when humans are involved.

[They do have that tendency. Which is why Cassandra says nothing to the contrary. She's not about to tell an elf not to be mad about humans as long as they know not to let it get in the way of obtaining a common goal.]

Hm. Some of the crews here seem to stuggle to understand just how much things can be at stake here. It's as if this is a game to them.

I do not believe that is the case for my crewmates. They take all of this quite seriously. But I do not believe they are capable of thinking beyond their own narrow and rigid mindsets.

[It's a little pot-kettle for her to say that, but she's got morality on her side to mitigate that as far as she's concerned.]

Hm. Some tend to follow only what they know, it is often safer, remaining with the familiar than trying something new which may fail.

That's ridiculous. Even if the things were not of sound mind, they did not deserve to be... tested upon. No one would know what would come of that, it could have made the infection spread to everyone aboard.
