[Clay stares at the lizard, which is still hissing at him and making aggressive, yet aborted charges at him. Ah, so it's an intimidation tactic, not a bloodthirsty beast that could swallow him whole or -

And there's a voice, not from the broadcast, but from the side. It's... MegaMan?

Awww, man. How embarrassing.

Seemingly undettered, Clay hops up to his feet and bounces on the heels of them, a big grin on his face (and a light blush on his face from that whole fiasco).]

Hey hey, Mega! I'm fine, totally fine, see? [He gestures to the lizard, which just lets out a low hiss at him. Oh yeah. He is the epitome of fine.]

[Megaman draws to a halt beside Clay by the time he's on his feet--now that it's overwhelmingly obvious that the guy isn't in any immediate danger, eyebrows rise but he's smiling a bit despite himself. Said smile widens, even, as Clay gestures to the lizard and it hisses back vindictively.]

Yeah, I can see that now! Hah, it just kind of--sounded like there might have been trouble. [YOUR VOICE CARRIES FAR CLAY...but, after noting the comm in Clay's hand, Megaman stares at the lizard himself now, bemused.] What were you trying to do with this lizard, though...?

[After a thoughtful pause, he crouches down to get a better look at it. An actual lizard from outer space! Man, Lan would be having a fit if he could see this...]

[YEAH HIS VOICE IS KINDA... LOUD...

And - awww, now that Megaman's up close, he's so... tiny! Like, even shorter than Apollo, and Apollo's a little chicken nugget. That's kind of hilarious, but also not really the topic to focus on as Megaman goes to get a better look at the lizard. The spines on its back are up as another form of intimidation, but despite that, Clay crouches down by Megaman to get a better look as well.]

I was recording it for the fleet. I figured since the videos are saved on the broadcast, I could just take this with me and show it to my captain back at home as evidence of the different kinds of life on other planets and solar systems! I was planning on bringing back physical evidence too, like some of this sand and algae, but I wanted video of something living, too. [He gives his friend a tap on the shoulder as he grins, all excitement.] Can you imagine what would happen if the scientists and astronomers back on our planets learned what we're learning right now? It could be world-changing as we know it!

[Little chicken nugget EXCUSE YOU THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER...but no there will doubtless be time to sort that out in a bit Still oblivious to the extremely rude height assessment being made in his direction, Megaman peers with great interest as the lizard inflates itself importantly, almost more amused than anything else. These days it's honestly a bit difficult for general creatures to alarm him; this lizard could just as easily pass for a smaller garden-variety virus, and those had become the least of his problems in life quite awhile ago.

Still, though, he can't say it isn't neat--and that would be saying the least. He looks up at the tap on the shoulder; Clay's grin would have been infectious enough by itself, but the enthusiastic commentary accompanying it has Megaman's smile widening all the more as well.]

Oh, I see! Yeah, that's not a bad idea at all...we probably aren't going to be staying here for too long, after all. [He hums thoughtfully, looking back over to the lizard with renewed appreciation.] If you think about it, I guess pretty much everything here would count as 'alien' in some way! Everybody back home would definitely be really amazed...and who knows what we might learn from these things in turn, in the hands of the right scientists!

[But the lizard does seem pretty offended about this invasion of personal lizard space, so eventually Megaman is drawing back to his feet, absentmindedly dusting the sand off his gloves. A bit of Clay's earlier words sinks in belatedly...]

You think you'll be able to bring everything you get here back home though, huh?

[Clay leans back too, though he doesn't stand up, because pshhh he can look up at Megaman just fine while sitting down. The lizard eventually decides that it's had enough of this bullshit and moves on, though not without a parting hiss.]

Well, why not? I mean... I know a lot of people leave everything behind. [Sheena, for example. The clothes he'd bought for her were still there after she left and everything.] But I can't ignore the possibility that maybe, just maybe, I can be one of the few who can bring some of this stuff back with me. And even if I can't, it's evidence to me that there's life on other planets. If I go, and all the things I gathered are left, then maybe someone on my crew can carry on until one day, it's brought to my world, or any world that can benefit from it. Then the evidence that there's life out there, sustainable worlds, can be used to further research of galaxies beyond our reach!

[You can practically see the stars in his eyes as he describes all of this. What a grand future he sees!]

Hm...yes, that's definitely a good way of looking at things! Who knows, we might reach your Earth or mine someday too...or even just a world that's never seen alien things before either. I'm pretty sure anybody could benefit from finding out about something like that. [Megaman watches as the lizard wanders off, parting hiss and all--but looking back over to Clay just in time to spot those all-but-literal stars in his eyes over there, well, who could burst such a hopeful bubble like that? Certainly not Megaman.

And besides, he doesn't entirely disagree either. It's not a bad way of looking at things at all! Logical, in its own way, even if a lot of it hinges on faith in their fellow fleet members to pick up the torch where Clay might leave off. Still!]

Even besides all that, it can't hurt to collect things, anyway...everyone wins all around. [He folds his arms and shifts his weight a bit; sand shifts and crunches under the heels of his boots. That's still a really weird feeling...turning properly to Clay now:] But anyway! Ah, it sounds like you've been getting around this area a lot already...have you been having a lot of fun here, so far? Didn't forget to put on sunscreen or anything, did you?

[He has lots and lots of faith in his crew okok. Clay wraps his arms around his legs and gives a big smile at that question, already answering it in his own way.]

Definitely! This place is a lot different from beaches on Earth, yet it's so similar to them, too! After astronomers spent so long trying to find planets like Earth, only to turn up empty-handed? Finding places like these is so surreal. I've been checking out everything - Oh, and I've been trying to figure out the distance of some of the stars here, too!

[Bruh he doesn't care about sunscreen, although he has been putting some on. Now he's sporting a tan that actually makes him look like he inherited more of the Korean blood of his mother than the opposite.]
