A fair enough assumption. It is daunting, at first.

_{[ Hard to believe that quite so much water exists, that hard as you
strained your eyes you might see nothing else along the other end. There
was no end. Only blue sky meeting blue water. ]}

Believe you me, I have no desire to go out so far. I do not much like it on a lake, I think I shall like it far less out there.

_{[ He sipped at his drink and glanced at Felix. ]}

I am glad you came out to enjoy it though. I thought it a shame for you to remain hidden away in the ship the whole time.

[He smiled, glancing out at the water. He couldn't explain the peacefulness he felt, but it was nice to be near all that crystalline beauty and not feel anxiety. OF course, any body of water had a leg up over the Sim in that area.]

Actually, I've been keeping to the interior of the islands. There are plenty of interesting flora to look at. Pity the natives are touchy about picking the flowers.

Really? I hadn't noticed... I planned to go to a few more, make sure they did not have any trouble with the fungus, and burn it out otherwise. If you came along, perhaps we could request some samples as reward?

_{[ He would be glad of the company, as well as someone else to work the
magic with. Not that FireStarting drained him all that much, but just in
case things went wrong it was nice to have someone else besides him to
counter the magic. ]}

It might be worth a try, though in all honesty I'm not sure what I would do with them, besides perhaps hand them off to Asteiffel.

_{[ He smiles at the mention of his young former crew mate. ]}

He's a sweet boy. I'm sure he'd love them, actually. It took much gentle convincing to get him to organize the plants in the medical bay and provide room for treatment when I was on the tourist.

_{[ He paused. ]}

You could always use them to decorate our rooms or the common areas of the ship. It would add a bit of life.

[Felix chuckled] If you hadn't noticed, he already donated a few to the ship. Though we did lose a few in the attack... [A frown crosses his features at the mention of the incident, but smooths away an instant later] Ah, well, I'm not the most adept of gardeners in any case.

I might not have. If you have not noticed, I have been terribly enamored with my new musical toy of late.

_{[ He caught the frown, reaching out to brush his fingers against
Felix's briefly. ]}

I am sure he would grant you lessons if you asked. He's a sweet child.

[Instead of ignoring or pulling away from that contact, he instead turns his hand to link fingers very lightly with Vanyel. It's still a small thing, but the contact is very comforting, and he doesn't otherwise acknowledge it.]

If sweet is another word for odd, yes.

_{[ Vanyel does not turn from it either, pleased with the touch and the
contact, but neither does he grip tight and hold fast. Felix, he thought,
was much like a horse that way. To tight a hold, and he would balk. ]}

Very odd, yes. He is unlike anyone I think I have yet met. But he is a good child. I think I shall miss him being on the Starstruck. And worry a little. He and Fenris do not see eye to eye.

_{[ He shook his head, thumb brushing across the back of Felix's hand
absently. ]}

I think the Starstruck would look lovely with flowers, though.

[He chuckled]

Few people see eye to eye with Fenris.

He is a... very grumpy sort. I think he nearly attacked me the first time I set food in the armaments room.

_{[ He shook his head, taking a draught of his drink as the shore surged
in. He jumped at the cold, laughing at his own shock. ]}

[The water only made him gasp, but he hopped back along with Vanyel, catching himself on the mage's sleeve to steady himself in the wet sand]

[He knows Fenris doesn't have one, he just wanted to make the inneundo]

No, I touched his guns.

_{[ Which, one could take as innuendo as well, but it was also the
truth, which made it a bit funnier. He laughed at the other's jump,
slipping his arm around him instead. ]}

Which I think made him rather more upset. I am rather glad I did not mention I was a mage right away.

[Felix chuckled and pressed a little closer]

Wise decision. I hid that from him for months back in Paradisa. We got along the better for it...

Was he there? I do not rightly recall him, but perhaps we never crossed paths. Probably for the better, though, if he disliked us mages so.

_{[ He hummed, leaning in with him, glancing to the other wizard and
smiling. ]}

I feel better having transferred to your ship. I feel less like I will wake up with a sword pointed at me.

He may have been before your time.

[More than five years made timelines hard to gauge, and the transfer to the fleet had muddled that even further. He suspected that was by design but that thought was suppressed by something more pleasant]

Well, that sort of sword, at least.

_{[ He could not help but laugh at that. Where once he might have found
such implied innuendo galling, he now found it amusing - from Felix at
least. Three years of good friendship could make such a thing. ]}

Yes, I do recall you being as well equipped, though I am less afraid you shall do me harm.

I would certainly hope so.

[He stepped a little further from the water, distancing them just a little]

Unless you had a taste for that kind of thing.

[And again, that isn't something he'd always so freely mention]

_{[ He considered it a moment, knowing what he meant. It had not been
something he ever thought of in his moments with people, but he had
discovered a small like for biting, which he thought might be something
aligned with that? He could not rightly say, though his time perusing books
and networks both at the Castle and here had certainly opened his eyes to
the existence of such things.}

That Felix enjoyed such things, or wanted to try them, was something of a surprise, but not altogether very shocking. ]

It is not ever something I have tasted before, but I would not be adverse to a sampling.

_{[ He trusted Felix, after all. ]}

I have been told that I should branch out and try new experiences before. Perhaps I should listen for once.

[That's tempting, but in his pleasant mood, he has little overwhelming desire to hurt anything for his own pleasure]

[The flash of guilt he feels is washed away by the implant a few seconds later]

But there's plenty of time for that kind of thing. I understand the sand might be an inhibition.

_{[ He laughed, looking down and scuffing his toe through the wet sand -
it would have been cuter through dry sand, but it was at least an attempt
at being charming even as he gave Felix's hand another squeeze. ]}

Yes, there are some places sand does not belong, and it is such a bother to get out of trousers.

_{[ He glanced at Felix, wondering if he should be bold and then
shrugged inwardly and leaned over, kissing his cheek. ]}

But I am enjoying this very much right now too.
